Natural light is always my preference but rarely something I can achieve!

…..Even…. lighting? If you have uneven light on your face you can’t get a sense of how even your eyeshadow is…
i prefer my bright artificial strip light next to my mirrir, but i do like to do a quick check in the window just in cases 🙂
Hi,
I am a new fan of your site. Love your articles.
They are really useful.
I was trying to find a post in which you describe your daily skin care routine. However, I was not able to find it. Can you please provide me a link to the post if you have one.
You have lovely skin 🙂
Thanks,
Smitha
My skincare routine is constantly changing! I don’t have a set one!
As long as it’s even, bright enough, and neutral-toned, anything goes for me.
Natural, it’s oddly the most forgiving on my freckles and poors
Not trying to plug anything here but I recently got an Ottlite makeup mirror and it’s a blessing. Ottlite uses “natural sunlight bulbs” and is used a lot with crafters to shed light on projects requiring intricate detail- or to take the strain off eyes. My ex boyfriend who tattoos told me about them and upon research I saw the makeup mirror and had to have it. It has a normal side and a magnified side. They aren’t the cheapest in the world, but lets face it neither are a lot of makeup products I’ve invested in. I might as well take the one time sacrifice on something to see accuracy of all the other things I invested in (and when you sign up for a new account they send you a 20% off coupon- they’ve also had great holiday emails).
Bright incandescent light that I can direct any way that I need. I like it. I make a point of checking my makeup in natural light, though.
I just use the bathroom light. Ive tried searching for natural lighting makeup mirrors but they are WAY to expensive. And those makeup mirrors in target are no better than regular lightbulb lighting but some do have a daytime light setting (but bright enough)
Omg I prefer natural light. It’s funny how i search my whole house looking for the perfect lighting to apply my makeup. My room only has one window and the lighting is terrible. I’ve decided to buy the vanity mirror online that has the light bulbs around it. I’m hoping this will help me! lol
i did use to like doing makeup in the daylight, but i notice my makeup looks much better in artificial light, and even better with my new lighting mirror from boots, the no7 one, my makeup looks so flawless, but that could be because of the new elf studio stipple brush!
I need the whitest light to p ut my makeup in. Dont get good lighting from the windows 🙁
Natural/daylight for sure! But it’s hard to achieve especially because it’s dark in the morning when I wake up. Here’s a silly question! Are there special lights you can buy that mimic daylight?!
checkout Outtlite.com. They have a makeup mirror that has a normal side & magnified side. They use “natural” white light. I love mine.
I’m not too picky with lighting! I use what I get 🙂
Definitely natural daylight. It is the best light for makeup application. If I have to apply makeup when natural daylight isn’t available, I use the brightest daylight setting on my makeup mirror.
Natural, but at home it’s very difficult to have full natural light so I have to rely on the neon light around the mirror of the bathroom.
luckily I have a skylight in my bathroom so I have lots of awsome natural light! After 7 years as a makeup artist and 15 years of wearing makeup…. I really feel like I can do my makeup in any lighting. I feel that lighting is more important when you do other people’s faces or if you don’t feel confident in what you are doing.
I just want full light. Shadows can make it hard to see shading properly.
Natural. I have a window near which I have set up my vanity and supplies- it’s the only way …
if it’s day, natural daylight! i bring my round mirror in front of the window and i even prefer to put my makeup in a smaller mirror and taking only the makeup i need with me instead of having it all under my hands, than putting makeup under artificial lights…
Natural light.
I use a natural light lamp to beat my winter depressions and it works miracles as a makeup lamp Even in the evening, I have the perfect light to put on my makeup!
I prefer natural light from the window. If natural light is not available, I do my makeup in the bathroom. If I want to check if its in good shade, I take picture using my camera with flash just to make sure I don’t look like a ghost hehe
Hi Christine! What kind of lighting setup do your take your photos of your makeup in? The ones of your face that is. 🙂
