Who is your ultimate beauty icon?

Who is your ultimate beauty icon? Share!

I really don’t have one — I have never been into celebrities, so there was no one I looked up to or idolized in any respect.

I have several beauty icons but they are all women that, while gorgeous in my opinion, are also quirky, strong, intelligent, and independent. You will never hear me say that Marilyn Monroe is a my beauty icon. I prefer women like Pink, Bif Naked, Alanis Morrisette, Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslet, and Helen Mirren.

I have always really liked Jennifer Aniston’s style…but lately I have really been getting into Ashley Greene. Her and I are the same age, and i wish i could dress like her…even though i know she has a stylist. Oh! or Blake Lively.

I don’t really have one either. If for some reason I was forced to choose someone, I’d say Angelina Jolie because she’s a goddess. I also love Cara Maria Sorbello from the MTV Challenges. She’s absolutely striking.

i got into celebrity women because I have always suffered with acne and wanted to know what they used for perfect skin. So I would pore over tons of magazines to find the “celebrity formula”. Took me years to discover that they also have issues with skin. Their advantage was heavy makeup and lighting! They suffer from the same crap we do!

You!!!You are smart, independant, opiniated, and beautiful…what more could I ask for?!!! Temptalia is my go-to for beauty info 🙂 Could not ask for a better beauty icon in my opinion…you are a great idol 🙂

Makeup artist wise it would be the amazing Lisa Eldridge and Kabuki. I too have never been very into celebrities but I LOVE Nicki Minaj’s and Katy Perry’s style.

Maybe Isabella Rossellini (I think one of the beauty houses – maybe Lancome – used her as their “face” for a few years) because I think she’s gorgeous but she’s also intelligent, funny, self-depricating and never seemed to take her role as “beauty icon” too seriously.

beachgal Avatar

She was the face for Lancone for years – then they dumped her when they came out with a new line that was for aging. She would have been perfect for it, but they wanted to target the 30 something market. If you have seen Isabella in the past 2 yrs you almost would not recognize her – she has really, really changed looks – she looks like she is maybe close to 72 and she is not I know – but she always refused never to have any cosmetic surgery – so ya wonder how much was airbrushed out in the days she was ‘the face’ of Lancome???

I, too, don’t have a beauty (or celebrity) icon, but, I’ve always enjoyed Oprah’s makeup. Reggie’s a wonder mua. It’s amazing what mu can do to improve on ones’ appearince.

For me its RuPaul, I saw Rupaul on a talk show talking about MAC so I tried MAC at the time there was only 12 places in the US to get MAC

Ashley Avatar

Twiggy, Lydia Hearst, Jessica Stam, Christina Hendricks

Big eyes, bold eyeliner, emphasizing the eyes 🙂 that’s what I like to do personally

beachgal Avatar

Oh I agree! I should have thought to put her down. She is amazing. My dad covered the old photo in this old antique frame hanging over their bed with a Life Magazine size photo of Rita!!! My mom left it for a long time just to bug my grandma!

Marilyn Monroe – for her beauty and wit, sadly marred by the media’s determination to portray her as a “dumb blonde.” She had wonderful outlooks on life (especially civil rights) and it’s a shame things went so badly for her.

Dita von Teese for her skills in bringing vintage fashion to modern day so well – and being so pleasant and sweet, and perhaps Veronica Lake for appearance only. 🙂

Heather Avatar

I don’t really consider her a “beauty icon” nor do I obsess over her but I find that I get a lot of inspiration from Lauren Conrad’s looks from her hair, makeup and clothes. Whenever I see her in a magazine I go “Hmm, I kinda like that..think I’ll try it.”

Lucie Avatar

Karen O (of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Dita von Teese, and Tilda Swinton! Three very different looks but they each epitomize beauty in their own way!

Chris Avatar

Katherine Hepburn. She wore pants at a time when most women wore skirts, and she always stayed true to her personality through her wardrobe. To me, that was really gutsy and courageous of her.

Kayleigh Avatar

A model called SJ Whiteley (google her). She’s absolutely different from the rest and has her own outrageous style which I love.. and she’s completely beautiful! I always try to style myself on her.

TM Avatar

The late Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy will always be my #1 hair, makeup and fashion inspiration. Her mother-in-law, Jackie O, was inspiring as well, but only after her years as First Lady. She could rock a turtleneck and some huge shades like no one else.

Ariel Avatar

I don’t have one because usually what works for other people doesn’t work for me. It’s all about what looks good on each individual person. I really trust MissGlamorazzi from Youtube when it comes to finding quality products and creating classic makeup looks.

Mine is not really a beauty icon but a musician, and it’s not a woman.
It is Brian Molko, singer of the band Placebo.
When I got to know that band (that i’m now in love with) i totally loved that man that wore (at that time) heavy black make up on his eyes. And that’s actually when I started to wear make up. Even in the band’s past, that man is known for his make up and the fact that he sometimes wore dresses on stage. And even if now it’s not as dramatic, he’s still wearing make up. To me when I learned make up, it’s thanks to his dark almost panda like eyes that i started and I also loved the fact that he dared to wear make up even as a guy. That was new to me at that time and it was a total message of tolerance of freedom to me. So all that makes that he’s my ultimate beauty icon.

I do not idolize any celebrity, let alone their lifestyle. I only read a lot by coming here on Temptalia.com. Although I do not idolize you, Christine, I DO respect you and everything you do. Your hard work—an inspiration I can always adopt.

Elle Avatar

Billy Corgan got me interested in eyeliner, so…him, David Bowie, RuPaul, Angelina Jolie, and whomever creates the looks for everyone on “Mad Men”. They are geniuses.

Mel Avatar

My beauty icon is Beyonce.

My all time makeup artist beauty icons are Kevyn Aucoin, Francesca Tolot, and Samantha and Nicola Chapman.

I learned about makeup brushes from Francesca 15 yrs ago.

Mimi Avatar

#1) Grace Kelly
#2) Isabella Rossollini
#3) Marion Cotillard

None of them wear a ton of makeup. They enhance what they were born with instead of trying to drastically change themselves as the fads and styles come and go. They are also “their own person” and don’t try to mimic anyone else. All 3 had/have class which is always beautiful.

Kathy Avatar

I don’t have a beauty icon per se. I follow some beauty and makeup philosophies that shape my view on makeup, though. Whenever possible, I follow the minimalist, natural beauty taught by Kevyn Aucoin and Bobbi Brown. I would rather use a powder to even out a complexion rather than heavy liquid bases to hide it, for example.

Violet Avatar

Kate Winslet and Audrey Hepburn. I love those classic beauties.

Although in recent time I’ve branched out a lot and started wearing more colour, so I draw most inspiration from people like you, Christine, who dare to wear!

Nicole Avatar

I love the look of Sandra Bullock, because she looks amazing and her makeup looks very natural, not to bold.

I also like the style and work of Lisa Eldridge. Her tutorials are great and a good inspiration.

Kimberly Avatar

Mainly Kat Von D, because of her confidence to wear bright as well as smokey looks during the day, which is what I do. I also like that she wears lipstick, which is so different from what a lot of younger women wear nowadays, which is just lip gloss (where I live anyways). I’m not too much of a fan of the quality of her cosmetic line however.

Kim Kardashian is another woman I would consider to be my beauty icon.

Michilicious ~ Avatar

I don’t have one absolutely complete beauty icon, as I feel that perfection comes in many variations. I love natural beauty, Gothic beauty, Visual Kei, quirkiness, classicness, colour, Gyaru, Ulzzang, and that’s not all.
Bloggers and YouTube gurus, just pure inspiration, something in my head, a description, a painting…
However, two celebrities that pop up in my head are Emilie Autumn and Marilyn Manson, because they are two of my greatest inspirations (and gods on earth, really) and gorgeously different.
Then again, although I know this probably isn’t what you’re looking for, I also want to say J.K. Rowling, because of the way she created one of the most beautiful things I know, Harry Potter. ~ ♥

Kaitlyn Avatar

My ultimate beauty icon would have to be Beyonce, she represents fearless beauty. She’s always looks amazing, and her beauty seems to be effortless. She exudes just the right amount of confidence.

Megan Avatar

I love style from the 1920’s-1960’s. Clara Bow, Rita Hayworth, Edie Sedgewick, and mant more. I love classic Hollywood and Mod the most. Also Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette is beautiful.
