Urban Decay x Nagel Vice Lipstick Palettes for Holiday 2017
Urban Decay x Nagel Vice Lipstick Palettes
The Details
We’re bringing you a serious case of nostalgia with this trio of Vice Lipstick Palettes featuring some of Nagel’s most iconic prints. These are more than lip palettes; they’re mini works of art you can carry in your bag! Each one pays homage to Patrick Nagel, whose works were influenced by the fashion and music of the ’80s and portrayed strong, badass women—always wearing bold lipstick. You’ll be hard pressed to choose just one palette, so why settle? Snag ’em all! These babies are only around for a short time—and once they’re gone, they’re gone for good.
Each palette holds five shades of Vice Lipstick, from cult favorites to exclusive shades you won’t find anywhere else. We carefully curated the lineup for each palette— including a range of shades from neutral to bright, dark to light, and multiple finishes. Each one features a mix of cult-favorite Vice shades and at least one exclusive. This is the Vice Lipstick formula you know and love, just poured into a palette. Our proprietary Pigment Infusion System™ gives each shade its super-creamy texture, rich payout and superior color dispersion. Yummy Butter Blend comforts, hydrates and enhances, leaving lips soft and conditioned, never dry.
Perfect for on-the-go use, our ultra-compact design is as cute as it is practical. We even loaded each palette with a lip brush that’s perfect for layering and mixing the shades to create your own custom lip looks. We designed the wells with a special stair-step effect that’s perfect for wiping any excess lipstick off the brush (and keeping the lipstick in its compartment, not all over the palette). When you’re done applying, flip the attached cover on top of the lipstick wells to keep the shades protected and the compact free of messes.
About the artist: An ’80s icon, Nagel heralded a new wave of illustration that challenged the status quo of traditional poster art. Shaped by the birth of MTV, the popularity of music videos like Duran Duran’s “Girls on Film,” and the emergence of the supermodel, his style defined and influenced a generation. Robert Palmer even immortalized the iconic Nagel woman in his videos for “Addicted to Love” and “Simply Irresistible.” Perhaps best known for his illustration for Duran Duran’s second album, Rio, Nagel’s work paid tribute to the rise of confident, powerful women who weren’t afraid to go after what they wanted. Descended from art deco and pop art, his stylized images featured sharp lines and a geometric simplicity that’s still influential today.

OMG, it’s, like, sooooo totally awesome!!!!
LOL! I remember Nagel’s art was everywhere in the 1980s. On the walls of rooms filled with black lacquer/gold trimmed furniture.
I’d almost want one of these just for the retro packaging, but I actually have no interest in the product itself, so I’ll pass.
I’m not usually overly concerned with packaging, but those are fantastic. I wish they’d developed new shades for the palettes, though, like they did with the Basquiat collection.
Brands sabotage themselves when they repeat shades, as I would have purchased all three had each been completely different. But the packaging is lovely!
So back when we had to learn about our fave bands via magazines like Teen Beat, I recall Nick Rhodes (of Duran Duran) stating he wanted Nagel for the Rio artwork because Nagel was a longtime favorite artist. I have to get Rio for my teen crush on John Taylor alone lol.
I bought all 3 this morning. Plus I bought an extra “Sunglasses” for my bff who isn’t into makeup but loves Nagel.
Oooh I love Nagel’s art!! But I usually hate lip palettes… Like really hate ’em. Damn.
Me, too. It’s such fun packaging, though.
As I’m a Duranie Grannie, I NEED Rio!!! I think? ?
(Yeah, my heart is still in the 80’s ladies!)
I’ve actually been listening to Rio lately…weird, right? I haven’t heard it in decades, but I bought the MP3 version a couple weeks ago on a whim.
I already have Backtalk and Rapture in bullet lipsticks (both are gorgeous shades), and I don’t like this format for lipstick. Now, if these Nagel palettes had five eyeshadows instead of lipsticks, I might be a goner.
I have one word…. The Chauffeur!
Well maybe that was two. But that is one of my favorite f$”@?ing songs ever. Not to mention the video.
I don’t even care that they’re lipstick palettes, it’s Patrick Nagel and I’m gonna buy every. single. one of these!
The packaging is exquisite. I’m so in love.
I like the idea of these, I’ll hold judgement until swatch time.
I love these palettes, and I absolutely LOVE ANYTHING by Patrick Nagel.
All 3 of these palettes will BE MINE! 🙂
Christine, if I click on the above link to UD Canada, it directs me to YSL Canada. The palettes do not seem to be showing up on the Canadian website, at least right now when I’m checking. Maybe they will be available later 🙂
I fixed the link!
Thank you so much Christine! 🙂
LOVE this size, wish they had come out with these earlier, as the Vice lip palettes are sort of too clunky to be truly portable. However, the same shade is seriously in all three? If there were better shades in them, I would be in love. There isn’t a single one of these with more than a few shades I would regularly wear. All the sadness!
Luckily I don’t have any of the shades in the first one. Very tempted to get that palette, as I didn’t get Troublemaker when it was available and I freaking love the Nagel. I already have three shades in each of the other palettes. I use the UD Vice Lipstick Blackmail palette, especially when I travel or when I’m going somewhere after work! I took out the brush and cut down my Real Techniques brush to fit. I feel like the texture of the UD lip brush makes it hard to use — too slippery.
*Nagel art. In the picture, it doesn’t look like Rapture is in the Rio palette.
The lip colors are nice, but Nagel ranks up there with Tammy Faye Baker’s eye makeup as things from the 80s I never want to come back.
