Quick Review: Guerlain Terracotta Terra Inca Moisturizing Gloss
Guerlain Terracotta Terra Inca Moisturizing Gloss ($30.50 for 0.17 oz.) is described as a translucent formula with no sparkle but “packed with pigments.” It’s non-sticky with a “delicious sheerness.” I gather it should also be moisturizing, given its name. For summer, three shades were released: Tango (09) (flamboyant red), Salsa (07) (neon fuchsia), and Mambo (08) (sunny coral).
The gloss has a lovely jelly-like feel on lips that’s moisturizing; very cushioned and slick without being sticky. It is scented with Guerlain’s signature violet fragrance, and it is one of the stronger scents in higher end makeup, so if you’re particularly sensitive to scents, you might want to sniff first before purchasing. All three shades from the summer launch are shimmer-free with a healthy dose of glossy shine. The color is certainly not sheer, and all three had that translucent quality you’d expect from a gel-like gloss but they do yield quite a bit of color on the lips.
Tango (09) was a semi-opaque pinky red. Salsa (07) was a semi-opaque medium-dark pink. (neon fuchsia), and Mambo (08) was a semi-opaque muted orange. Tango and Salsa looked somewhat similar when worn–there is a difference, but it is not as large when worn than it is when swatched on the skin.

I cringe think these are $34 CAN, the packaging is nice but it is really worth $15 more then anything MAC puts out. *__*
They’re not really comparable in texture to the lipglass/lustreglass line-up – closer to Cremesheen Glass, which is $18.50 a pop and contains 0.08 fl. oz. These are non-sticky, which is why they’re more comparable to the more expensive Cremesheen Glasses but you get over double the amount! It would just depend on someone’s tastes 🙂
Absolutely love Guerlain KissKiss Gloss but do not like the Terracotta Gloss at all. It’s awful!
I usually don’t care much for packaging, but I have to say, these tubes are so pretty!
do they not have some lighter shades?
This is the summer trio, so they went with brighter shades. They have other Terracotta Glosses, but those have shimmer, so I don’t really know if that is what you’re looking for.
These just scream Urban Decay for some reason! Definitely will pass on them.
They look amazing *o*. They look like tints too. I love the mambo
The Mambo looks awesome! Very nice…
Too much $$$ – too much else just like it out there cheaper. Gloss dries out my lips – getting to be less and less a fan of it and using tinted balm/stains and waiting for something better to come out.
These are beautiful. I especially love the packaging. I think I’ll scoop up a couple of these. Thank you for swatching!
hi christine!! you and temptalia are the best!!! i had to respond to this because i wore these all summer. i mixed all 3 together. the best lip glosses ever! long lasting, beautiful! i highly recommend them. i live in a small city so, these are limited edition at the counter i go to. i went through 3 sets. wishful thinking that next year the glosses will be larger. wait until holiday collection comes. i have not seen any new glosses since summer. i hope they have new for holiday! xo
Seeing as ‘moisturizing’ is one of their claims, you didn’t touch on that aspect of the product in your review? Do they fail or succeed on that front? And was that reflected in the overall score?
They were moisturizing – this was a quick review, as noted above, which means it is not designed to be a comprehensive review and only a quick review.
These are gorgeous. But the scent is a deal breaker for me.
Pretty surprised at the love/loathe “meter”. These sound wonderful. You had me at “jelly”, and “shimmer-free” and then again with “violet” – I’m all over it. Thanks for the review as I would have surely missed them.
Never ventured into Guerlain before but these might just persuade me.
whoa! so expensive for lipgloss 🙁
hi, christine! what eyeshadow are you wearing on your lids! it’s absolutely gorgeous!!
I like how.. deep the colours are, if that makes any sense. But whoa, the pricetag, damn!
i like the second one 😀
The packaging is so beautiful! The colors are so blah, though…
I’m very impressed!
I have them all, and they are great either on their own or to fix the tone of lipstick/gloss underneath. They are very sheer – my lip color shows underneath.
