I do not own any NARS eye shadows. Are they fantastic? I like Man Ray and I am very tempted just by the packaging.
I find that the Nars eyeshadow formula doesn’t play nice if you practice a windshield wiper motion for eyeshadow blending. You have to pat them in and then blend out if that makes any sense.
I can’t wait to see this collection in person.
They are easily my favorite eyeshadows. Sometimes the formula can be off, like with the single matte eyeshadow Outremer, but very rarely does that happen.
I wouldn’t say they’re fantastic. I would say they are mostly really good, with some occasionally duds.
I’m in love with this collection. That Glass Tears palette will be mine.
Me too Asche I love it!
I’m obsessed with this collection. Love all the palettes and the duos with a cheek product and lipstick are adorable and I want Impassioned, Deep Throat, and more. This one is going to be dangerous for my bank account….
I’m trying to remind myself of how disappointed I was in the Andy Warhol collection, because my first impression looking at this lineup is that it’s easier to pick the things that I don’t want. Both eyeshadow duos appeal to me. So do both Audacious sets. So do both the blushes. And the golden highlighter. And the combination of Rita and Hot Sand.
tl;dr I’M DOOMED
Kate…do you mind sharing why you were disappointed? Maybe it will help me control myself. Thanks.
Unfortunately, I don’t know if the problems would apply in this case. Most of the Warhol collection products were made to look like his paintings (not just the packaging, but the makeup). As a result, the products looked nice enough, but were difficult to use.
These, on the other hand, look glorious
Thanks for the reply.
Wow– gorgeous, clean and original. Let’s hope the quality of the eye shadows is good.
W.O.W.
Now this looks pretty good – gorgeous, colourful eye shadows, bright lipsticks and some great looking blushes.
Eye candy
Man Ray was a major influence in Dada and Surrealism. Mostly known for his photographs, he always saw himself more as a painter — the colors in this collection reflecting the palettes he worked.
I love this. As a long time devotee of Man Ray and his oeuvre, this is the first interpretation of an artistic force that I have not felt cynical about. It’s artistic, it’s real, and it it is reflective. Color me impressed. And color me using some, if not a lot of this collection. My no-buy/low-buy may be broken for this.
And, as a Boston girl, Linda, do not forget the tie in of the lips with the Black Dahlia murder. The highlighter is so wow, that I want to get it and gaze at it, while sipping oolong from my fur lined teacup! Or maybe get a pocket tee with the lips as the pocket. Tha latter, I would actually use. 20 year’s ago, I liked Nars shadows. Today, not so impressed. These are certainly must swatch, if not must get. Prob only in on the coffret with the darker lippies.
Sorry this is off-topic, but…
YES, kjh.. Man Ray and George Hoedel were “best buds”. There’s a theory that Elizabeth Short’s killer was trying to impress or “one-up” (for lack of a better term) Man Ray by restaging “The Lovers” (aka “The Lips”) as a living piece of performance art.
NARS seems to base a lot of collections on questionable (often at least suggesting misogyny, IMO) themes.
Best holiday set yet! Love the palette
Crap…I think I’m in trouble. I haven’t really seen anything I just couldn’t pass up until now. I love that eyeshadow palette, and the gold highlighter. And those cute Love Triangles in Orgasm, Impassioned and Anna, and Hot Sand and Rita. And I always have trouble passing up mini lipsticks….crap…
Gimme! Sad Laguna has to be part of that gorgeous cheek trio.. hrmpf. Love the purple duo shadow, but the packaging looks to be same old same old. As I break down the collection piece by piece.. there is less that I want/need.. but this post certainly looks gooood all together.
I hate how early we are discussing the holiday collections, but this is pretty. I might have to work a few pieces into the budget
Oh WOW – what a lot of lovely items. It’s difficult not to want almost all of them!
The blushes will be mine. The shadow duos look interesting too, but dupable.
Oh my word, be still my heart. I love this collection. Everything about it speaks to me except for the fact that Nars is no longer cruelty free. I have to get over that since my daughter has repeatedly told me how hypocritical I am being. I know I am. It will have to score very high for me to consider dropping my hypocritical stance, however…. Waiting on reviews and videos. If it is gone when I am ready then that is the universe telling me I don’t need it.
That Glass Tears palette is calling my name! I like the look of this entire collection.
Most tempting holiday collection yet. So many pretties!
Beautiful collection! Oh I want that cheek palette. I luv Nars blushes and the packaging is to die for!
Can I just say I want to own allof it just to look at it? Holding my breath for the reviews…
Too palettes (NARS and ABH) with such pretty green. I just wish something in this same color only matte.
Two ??
This is it! The collection that is knocking my socks off (well, actually my chaclas because it’s still hot here, but I digress!). Wouldn’t be so bad, except I’m saving for a move in January. Between this and the Fenty holiday stuff; I’m falling into a black hole as I type this out! Can barely wait to see all those beautiful eyeshadow swatches. They look delicious!
The Love Game palette looks really good, shade-wise! NARS is out to get my money and I might just cave, if the reviews are favourable. I really hope they have been working hard on their eyeshadow formulas. Otherwise, everything looks good, except for Glass Tears which looks too cool for me. I have been wanting to try the Audacious formula and heres my excuse 🙂
What a fabulous collection 🙂 I’m impressed at first glance; will wait for reviews as NARS quality isn’t always consistent. But I can see myself ending up with about half of this collection if the reviews are good! Those shadows *swoon*….
Wow… this is so beautiful. The lipstick coffrets are the most tempting to me just because I don’t own any Audacious lipsticks, but the packaging on the palettes are stunning.
Wow, I’m interested.
Ok, that set with 4 red lippies!! Gorgeous!
What a well thought out holiday collection. I love it all! Nars for the win with this holiday collection! I will definitely pick up a few things! I’m thinking about the blush palette, the small shadow palette, maybe an eye duo and a blush/lip set. Well done Nars!
Omg, I really, really want quite a bit from this collection and the love triangle sets are just so cute! I’m just annoyed they put Laguna in the cheek palette.
I’ve never owned a NARS eyeshadow palette. this one looks nice but who is Man Ray?
He was a very influential visual artist/painter/photographer who influenced Dadaism and Surrealism.
I want Debauched eyeshadow duo, Intensley Blush, Nagoya eye liner, The Veil Cheek Palette, and the Noire Et Blanche mini lipstick set
Could not be more excited about this collection, I really hope it doesn’t disappoint. Well done, NARS.
This is the most promising holiday collection I’ve seen yet. I’m adoring the packaging, and the colors are gorgeous.
Noir et Blanche looks like I might need it. I love the colors in there.
How did I miss this!!!!! Gorgeous! Why, why, why Pat, Natasha, and now Nars!!!! Santa please help me!
Looks like this collection went live today with everything except for the Love Game palette. Do you know if that one is releasing later, or only at certain retailers?
According to NARS on instagram, the Love Game palette isn’t being released in the US.
I got the Glass Tears Palette at Nordstrom last night. It is so on point! It has a creamy texture and includes a Gold gold, a beautiful medium deep green (pure forest without leaning khaki or brown, very deep emerald), a gorgeous deep ruby burgundy, the “brown” shade is actually a super deep green with red, green, and gold pearl, basically a combo of the gold, green, and burgundy shades, but deep enough to be your crease shade or outer V, and then there’s a matte black and a matte sandy cream. Basically, it’s so many complete eye looks on any skin tone and any eyelid texture. I was blown away. I love this collection!
Can’t find the Love Game Palette anywhere!
Christine, do you know if it’s exclusive to a certain store?
@Christine, NARS has been saying on IG that they aren’t releasing Lovd Game in either Canada or US; did they send you that palette in their press kit?
Seems an odd choice to send if it’s not going to be available in one of your primary markets.
Temptalia’s audience is 50% international, actually 🙂
Hi! … if I REALLY had to choose a highlighter, what would you recommended for my skin tone? MAC’s “Whisper of Gilt” or NARS’s “Double Take”? I’m so torn between the two.
I am a NC42 at MAC, NARS Luminous All Day Foundation in “Cadiz” Fenty “370” and “425 Bisque W” in Lancôme’s Teint Idole Ultra Wear.
THANKS : ) <3
They’re very much the same in color… Whisper of Gilt is just going to be more metallic.
