New Design is in Bloom!

Just a quick announcement to assure you that you are not going crazy — we have changed the design and layout of Temptalia! We hope you enjoy the new look and feel. 🙂

As with any new design, there might be a few bumps and bugs along the road, and we’ll be on the lookout for them ourselves, but if you discover any, would you please let Temptalia’s resident tech guy know? Send him an e-mail with the problem you are having/seeing along with any browser information (e.g. which version of what internet browser you use).

Notes:

  • We have changed the narrower font per user feedback.
  • If there is an advertisement in the background, the flowers + blue background will not show up.  We are still tweaking the way the background will look when these run.
  • We are continuing to improve on the search.

If you’re using Internet Explorer and something doesn’t look quite right, click “Compatibility View” (circled below) to see if the bug persists.

I love it! It’s much easier on the eye than the old design – really calming and pretty. The only thing I’m not too keen on is the font change for the titles; I find it a bit narrow and harder to read.

I really like the new visual, but the hdeadline text (the title of the post, the black “new design in bloom” in this case) looks a bit blurry on safari. I just got the new safari for windows a few days ago so I’m not quire sure where to look for the exact version, but it should be the newest one as I literally got it 3 days ago. Really do like it though, good job! 😀 I’ll shoot an email with details to the tech-guy as soon as I’ve figured out the version of my browser!

I love the cherry blossoms and warm blue color! It feels so open, cheerful and relaxing – the contrast between the blue and your signature pink is really nice. It will be especially welcome in the winter for those of us who live in the cold as a reminder of spring. It also reminds me of the anime I watched as a kid when I lived in Japan in the early 1980s!

I love it – it’s very fresh, bright, and clean. I also appreciate the fact that it is still as easily navigable as before, but has the modern updates with the colors, subtitle fonts, and moving features on top of the stationary background. Excellent job, Christine, as per always 🙂

I was surprised when i was searching something on google and landed to new layout … to make sure its My VERY OWN Temptalia ….
I opened it again in other browser and saw this post …

I really really hope your new design includes a faster loading mobile version with potentially less ads (to increase the faster loading). I really really hope for that!

I just got home from a long day at work and the new layout immediately perked me up. Nothing like pretty and girly to make you forget about your annoying co worker! Good job Christine and Shaun! 🙂

on a more serious note, i LOVE the new organization of content – the pseudo-dropdown boxes at the top are amazing, and i love that if you click ‘view more’ there’s a dropdown box to view all choices for refining on the results page. so organized, so easy to find what i’m looking for!

The new layout is spiffy. 😛 Although I miss the signature pink and this is quite bright; maybe bold the font for post titles as well? I LOVE the link bar on the top that now shows links for you to click on when you rollover a category, so much easier. I love your site Christine, I’m glad I got to see how much it has changed over the years! You’re doing a great job, and your boyfriend too.

The new site is so beautiful,Christine!! I especially love the flowers in the background…it will feel like Spring every time I visit Temptalia,even in the cold,dark Winter!! Kudos to Shaun as well.

I love it sooooo much, Christine! Although I could be a bit bias since I love white, blues, pinks, and pastels ATM xD! It’s so refreshing with hints of oriental style, though it doesn’t lose the professional feel of Temptalia 🙂  It seems so happy and refreshing to look at, like mint for my eyes xP

Looks sensational! I am on safari and have no blurriness of any fonts. I love the new fonts! The only tiny bit of feedback that I can offer is that the “New Design in in Bloom” title, the black on pink (not subtitle in aqua), kind of gets lost a little because it is in the middle of 3 pics and a fair bit of pink….Not sure if it really matter though 🙂
Great work, you (and tech-man) are really talented!

🙁 I can’t see it 🙁
I see it for 2 seconds and then it gets covered up by all of the adverts around the edges of the page 🙁
Also the typefaces look strange, there are shadows missing from ‘Get updates by email’ and when I was scrolling down the main page, the MAC makeup bag post looked strange because the release text looked to be in Times and I wasn’t sure it should be as nothing else is in Times. The condensed typeface for the headings looks the same as it always has, nothing like your screengrab. The tabs along the top are in the wrong typeface (not condensed). Some of the coloured boxes are missing too. I’ve tried the compatibility view but that makes everything worse – boxes on top of each other.

The screengrab looks great though lol! Look forward to seeing it properly 🙂

Hi Jennifer,

Per user feedback, we changed the titles of the fonts. The shadows behind “Get Updates By Email” show just fine for me. Perhaps you could share browser and its version you are using – it is hard to help you if we don’t know what program you are viewing the site in and again, if you have issues, please email our tech guy so he can help you! 🙂 Thanks!

I love the new design. Very calming.

One thing though. Maybe that’s just me but I’m missing the “home” button. It made going back to the front page easier. Now when I’ve read a post in total, I have to click on the address bar and have to change it manually. But as I said, maybe that’s just me.

Christine, wow…LOVE the new look – i’ve been staring at the screen for the longest time – so pretty n chic. Adore the cherry blossom wall paper n the new colours. I’m just getting around to exploring all the changes – i see the tabs are insta-info and more user friendly – hah never thought u’r blog could get better and then u and Shaun surprise me again, and again, and yet again. I am having issues with page loading; the ‘like’ button vanishing when i click on a post etc. but i’m sure those kinks will get worked out in a day or two. Great job once again – and thanks for all that u do.

Christine, i am using IE8 – ‘like’ + ‘love it – leave it’ buttons are now fixed – thanks – couldn’t reply earlier as each time i clicked on ‘comments’ or ‘reply’ or any page beyond homepage the IE stopped working – and auto reloaded – kept getting a message ‘problem with this webpage caused IE to stop working’…then ‘tab has been recovered’…blah blah 🙁 keeps happening 🙁

I’m on my iPhone right now, and I see the gorgeous design when the page first pulls up, but then sadly it disappears once it’s finished loading… Just wanna let you know

I absolutely love the new design, so gorgeous, so feminine and so fresh !
This light blue background is a very good highlight for the posts, and the combination of this light tealish blue and pink is really pretty !

Hi Christine, beautiful background. Love it. In the past, when I viewed your website on my smart phone (which I do 9 times out of 10) it was in ‘mobile view’. Now it is not?

i like the flowers and header but the actual reviews (aka why i’m on this site) are hard to read compared to the old skin.

When there’s an ad for the background, the logo doesn’t show up.
Other than that, it’s really nice. Will take some time getting used to though haha

Yep, the ad becomes the background, so the one we have normally will not work – since we just made the change this weekend, our ad network still needs to adjust the background (the white – it was white because of the previous layout). Thanks!

I kinda like it, although I think the turquoise is a liiitle too bright. I’d love it a lot more if it was a shade or two paler to be honest. Something else I’m not crazy about is, the shade of pink of the top bar doesn’t work with/match the lighter shade of the cherryblossoms and the one used everywhere else. It’s just too red based.

Otherwise, quite beautiful.

Haha, I like it! I was wondering recently why the site was pink when your favorite colors seemed to be green/teal.. glad to see there’s a color scheme that’s more closer to your favorite colors! The cherry blossoms are a nice complimentary touch!

The really bright background with the faded top menu and font and all the buttons , links and ads just make it kind of obnoxious to look at .

Also I ‘ve noticed now that I can ‘t properly access the website on any computer other than my iMac , if I try to on my laptop it immediately takes me back to the previous page I was on .

I agree with the person up there ^ who commented asking for the option to view it in the old layout .

Hi Sari,

If you have having errors, would you consider emailing tech support? I can’t help you with those, and they can’t help you if they don’t know what’s going on. We only support one layout – sorry! The good news is the top of the website really isn’t something you would be focusing at if you’re here for the reviews 🙂 I’m sorry you find it so obnoxious.
