I love how you can easily control how much pigment ends up on your cheeks and how you can use most of them on your lips too. I hate how some dry too fast for you to blend them out so you have obvious streaks on your cheeks! 🙁
Very difficult to apply….messy….all over my fingers…leaks esp. the Lorac one I used to have. Pretty and flushing if applied well.
never tried one but i’m looking forward to
I LOVE cheekstains because they give me a glow that looks natural. Although, the glow does not last on some of the products. Right now, I really like the Tarte stain in Flush.
I love cheek stains/ cream blushes! They are so versatile and you can get bright bold color all the way to a thin sheer just blushed look!
They always look so much more natural, and never over done.
OCC Lip tars make AMAZING cheek stains, that last longer then any other cheek stain i’ve tried.
I definitely agree with this. They give a more natural look than putting a powder on.
Love this tip re: OCC lip tars!! Thanks!!
I love stains! Especially the Benefit stains, specifically Cha-Cha. I like that you can get a sheer wash of color or build it for a brighter look. I also love how easy it is so apply, I can throw it in my bag on the go and use my fingers to get a nice look. Yummy.
my favorite color for a lip/cheek stain is Stila Yumberry Crush, but i find that the color is so concentrated, I am never able to blend it properly! I have tried every technique, and several moisturizers to try and blend it, but still end up with clown cheeks. Can anyone suggest a dupe blush for the color? The color is so gorgeous I wish they offered it in a powder blush.
If you mean the liquid and gel ones like Benetint then I must rave. Apparently I’m much too slow for these things! I’m sure they’re great if you’re incredibly fast!
If this may include creme blushes (I feel like Tarte’s are more of light creams instead of stains) then I’m a HUGE fan! Depending on how you apply it they can look intense or beautifully natural. I tend to aim for the natural.
I think they look really pretty, I especially like Cha Cha Tint, but I’ve yet to find one that doesn’t break me out.
I only use the Tarte and Urban Decay cheek stains and I’ve had no problems with them. They glide right on the skin and blend easily. It’s also very easy to build the color. I like them a lot.
–LOVE–
I love how natural they look. They give THE most natural flushed look EVER. Super pretty and last all day
–HATE–
They go on so streaky on me. I have SUPER dry skin, so as soon as I put it down, my skin drinks it up and it’s absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to blend. Then after I have my lovely racing stripe of blush, it’s a pain and a half to get off my fingers.
Tarte stains are my absolute favorite–I don’t even reach for powder blush anymore, that’s how much I like them. They do take some practice, though, to get the right balance between too little color and Bozo the Clown.
I love Benetint and Posietint. Wish I could afford Tarte cheek tints
I’ve tried and loved all 3 of Benefit’s lip/cheek stains. I relied on them all summer to give my face some color, because everything else melted right off! My favorite way of wearing a cheek stain was blending it on bare skin, then putting my semi-sheer foundation on top. I’m scared of bright blushes, so I always try to tone them down.
I used to hate using Benefit’s stains on cheeks because I always wound up with stripes on my face no matter how quickly I moved. And then I got a tiny kabuki as a free Bare Minerals gwp. I brushed a bit of the stain onto the kabuki, then used that kabuki to quickly buff the stain into my skin. Ta-da! Nice even flush, no stripes! So now I love it. I use some form of Benefit stain every day on my lips and cheeks, to keep myself looking alive.
I really like the Tarte cheek stains in the tubes. They have a new one in a pump that stains SUPER fast and I feel like it takes way too much effort to get it on without being blotchy. It looks lovely when it’s right and lasts all day, but I don’t want to spend that much time making sure one product gets applied exactly right with little room for failure.
the only ones I’ve tried are thebalm staniac and thebodyshop one. I like the concept, but honestly, they’re to much trouble for me to bother with
I really like the two that I’ve tried. They are very blendable & have enough play time that they don’t end up streaky.
I’ve used Tarte in Blissful , which is more coral on me, and Josie Maran’s Color Stick in Rosey, which is a a lovely shade of pink on me.
I prefar “stains” as a formula for a blush, because nothing else stays on me more than a few hours.
p.s. Rebekah, try to mix the stain with your foundation!
I used to love the original benetint. I am pretty hopeless at blush application and it was so easy to do a natural look with that stuff. However, the plastic cap (on a glass bottle) with it’s inadequate threads broke… at the threads, getting cheek stain all over my other makeup. Two different bottles. I won’t buy it anymore 🙁 and am now struggling with powder blush.
Woohoo, I looovvvveeeee… cheek stain!!! My face is such a grease ball, no matter what blush I had on, I always put cheek tint underneath for insurance 😀
I love all Benefit’s cheek stain, UD, Vincent Longo & TheBalm’s Stainiac, but Posietint is my favorite among all!
Maybe I’m gonna try the one that made by Hourglass next time.
i like the natural blush it gives, but hate it when it stains my finger tips.
Benefit’s Cha Cha Tint and Posie Tint are the only cheek stains I own but I love these little beauty helpers. They provide a natural, healthy glow and are easy to blend.
I am absolutely loving my Becca beach tint – beautiful color, long lasting, very easy to apply… what else more can I ask for?! Love it!!!!
I have a darker skin tone (nc 42) and can’t seem to get cheek stains to show up on my skin. I love the idea of them, but both benetint and the one from the body shop fail to show up a whole lot
I’m an NC42 in the summer, and I still wear stains then. Just layer your applications, letting each layer dry down. It will stay longer and the colour will come out stronger…and I don’t like brands that are balmy or waxy like Tarte’s stains…my skin’s combination. I feel like it doesn’t grasp onto my skin strong enough. I like the liquid versions from Benetint. Hope this helps! 🙂
Cheek stains are a MUST for me, esp since my skin starts out combination the first few hours, then progresses to oily by the end of the day if I don’t touch up. I apply the stain right after I let my moisturizer settle in, that way the stain is uniform throughout my cheek area. I layer a few applications, THEN I apply my liquid foundation or powder. It then looks like a natural flush, like it’s my skin’s natural colour, not like I’m wearing a layer of powder blush. And since it stained my skin, the colour lasts, even when my foundation begins to slip by the end of my day. Benefit’s Benetint and Cha Cha Tint are my trusted faves!
I’m not into them, the liquid ones you have to work so fast to blend them. And I apply before foundation and powder so it doesn’t always show through the way I want it to look. I tried the Tarte stains years ago when they first came out, I don’t know if they since changed the formula but I did not like them. They never seemed to dry on my face. However, I do like cream blushes, I can apply them over my foundation and set with a powder blush to make the color last.
