Do you get inspired by celebrities’ makeup looks? If so, who are your favorites?

I don’t, but I’ve never been someone that follows celebrities (for anything)!

Not really, no. I’ve been a die hard Angelina Jolie fan since 1995 and I can’t say I’ve ever said “Ooh, I want to recreate that look!”. However, I did see a photo of Olivia Wilde in an US Weekly and tore it out because I loved her eye makeup so much and wanted to give it a shot. I ended up throwing it away because I’m lazy and it was just too much effort.

Thank you for sharing your inspiration! I didn’t know 2NE1 but I googled them and I think they’re fascinating, and not only as far as makeup goes 🙂

I don’t follow celebrities specifically, but I have a fair amount of interest in fashion and follow quite a few blogs as a result. A lot of the looks I try stem from what I see popping up on there and in magazines.

Yes, of course! What’s the point of having a huge makeup stash if you don’t play with it. Recreating celeb looks is fun. Like JLo’s On the Floor look. uh-mazing.

divinem (Melissa) Avatar

No, I do not follow celebrity looks. I know what looks good on me. I do follow current trends and adapt them to complement my features.

Yes, I get inspired not to look like them or to wear ALL that goop they put onto their face or to put botox and/ or restylene all over their face…Examples….Kim Kardashian too much makeup. Nicole Kidman, Meg Ryan too much botox….cant even move a facial muscle. Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez…looks too old for their age. Kate Middleton (Duchess of Cambridge)…if you call her a celebrity….too much eyeliner makeup makes her look old and harsh. Same with Victoria Beckham. Now, Mila Kunis, may wear alot of makeup….but I wouldnt mind looking like her…she looks good at all those red carpet events!!!!

Yes, I love watching the red carpet makeup looks and what products was used. I believe that’s more realistic than seeing these celebrities made up in magazine ads.

I’ve always adored Angelina Jolie’s cat-eyed look and nude lips. Her skin is luminous.

Anne Avatar

I have absolutely no interest in celebrities whatsoever. I don’t even know a who a lot of the people that others discuss are! I enjoy playing with make up and making my own ‘looks’ that way.

artemis Avatar

sometimes, yes 😀 usually when i see new crazy colors
i once done rihanna’s make-up in who’s that chick, the one w/ yellow and pink, and everybody at school complimented me and said i look like a doll :”>

Liz Avatar

hmm… yes and no. Inspired yes, but I wouldn’t copy or even emulate a particular look or style. I have naturally big eyes and a lot of very dramatic looks actually make me look like a cow (like: O___O). I’m also freakishly pale and everything that involves bronzer looks just plain silly. I like looking at celeb looks, and maybe taking something away from them, but only let them “inspire” me in the widest definition of the term.

I love kim kardashians heavy smokey eye look, and then i see another celeb like anne hathaway and i love her simple look. I really like bollywood celebs makeup as im south asian too and there makeup is always fab, my fave has to be sushmita sen or rani mujherjee

Marina Avatar

Kind of, I’m not super exact about it or obsessed with it. But if I see in a magazine that X celebrity is wearing (for example) bright lips and winged liner, I might try it out. I’m also inspired by beauty trends, even fashion trends tend to influence my makeup.

Celeb looks really have nothing to do with the celebrity wearing them. Since red carpet work is done by top professional hair and makeup artists, it is fun to see how they translate their ideas into something that is flattering and photographs well – pure runway work is experimental and may not translate into real life. These celeb portraits for me are really about seeing the work of some great pro teams, and the person wearing them is really just a model in this case. So thanks for posting the look breakdowns of major events when you can stomach it, Christine!

I take note of hair color if I like it and hair style – sometimes new ways to do eyes or that great ‘star glow.’ I don’t have time to look at magazines anymore and long ago stopped all my mag subscriptions because I never get to them.

Lee Avatar

A bit. I love retro looks like those worn by Gwen Stefani and Dita Von Teese. And I’m always on the look out for celebs with eyes similar to mine (hooded) to see what tricks I can steal.

Meiya Avatar

Yes, definitely. I’ve been inspired by movie or red carpet looks – love Mila Kunis’s looks in both movies and in real life. The new TRON movie makeup looked fab, love Charlize Theron’s look in Hancock (her more smokey/dark eyed looks).

I think the reason why so many women enjoy seeing celebrities is because we know they’re trendy and/or trendsetters. Not for much else.
I particularly like to see them all, but do prefer to look closely at the ones that represent my coloring most.

Steph Avatar

Absolutely, I love to see what looks celebs are wearing and it can give me inspiration. Celebrities’ MUAs are usually trendy so it is good to see how to wear trends. In particular, I love Kim Kardashian’s makeup. I think she wears too much sometimes, but I take cues from her because I love dramatic lashes, glowy cheeks and nude lips.

Devi Avatar

Not at all. xD I actually don’t even know who is who to be honest. If you were to show me a picture of Tom Cruise and one of Brad Pitt, I wouldn’t be able to tell you who was who. xD And I don’t read magazines or cruise through sites that revolve around celebrities, so since I don’t know/see their faces, they are no source of inspiration for me. xD

Maureen Avatar

I normally check out what celebrities are up to if I’m going in for a haircut, but I remember there being one eye-makeup look that Dianna Agron did that I really liked.

anna_a Avatar

I really, really love the red carpet looks of certain actresses like Diane Kruger, Kirsten Dunst, Charlize Theron… These are looks I would suggest for bridal makeup because they’re glamorous without erasing a woman’s natural features and her charm.

However, my personal favourites are all the wonderful fashionistas at the front row of every major show- i.e. I copy them mercilessly 😉 like Kiko Mizuhara at the Chanel couture show. She’s my new love!

Pamela M Avatar

Yes, I get inspired by Kortney Kardasian. I love the way she does her makeup. She wears the least makeup out of her sisters. I love the idea of just mascara and a bright lipstick and a top knot bun…she rocks this look alot, I am too today!

Bribri Avatar

I’m mostly inspired by celebrities with my same complexion. I love kelly rowland’s make-up and it usually inspires me to take more risk colour wise.

Britni Avatar

Nicole Richie is my style all-around idol. She’s the queen of blending bohemian and Old Hollywood, soft and edgy, in my personal opinion. I often recreate her makeup looks, then tweak it to match me perfectly.

Ayzee Avatar

Yes! I sport a K-Pop (2NE1, SNSD, 4Minute) inspired look on a daily basis but for special occasions, I channel Marilyn Monroe and Dita Von Teese. 🙂

Meg Avatar

yes!! but not the kind of celebrities that everyone loves… I’m more into women in metal music so my makeup it’s kind of dark smokey eyes and red lipstick… haha
