Adding to Matchmaster’s true-to-life appeal is its moisturizing demi-matte finish, medium buildable coverage, and line-reducing soft focus powders. I’m really interested to see how this performs! It’s nearly impossible to find a good foundation match for my skin :[
I am just hoping the lightest one is light enough for my skin as I’m super pale.
Me, too! I always have that problem.
I have played with these, and usually, I wear NC 15, and sometimes teeter on an NC 10. the lightest color however, was actually too light for me, and could have easily been suitable for an NC/NW 10 or even an NC/NW 5. I really liked the texture that it dried too, also.
Oh that is so awesome to hear!! Now all of us who are lighter can finally have a match from MAC! 😀
Finally a foundation from Mac that’s closer to the 10 o 5 range!. I guessing these are neutral compare to their yellow and red tones.
yayyayyayyayayayyayayayayayyay!!!!! i have been using NW15 forever which is ok but still slightly darker so im glad they are producing lighter colors!
I have been using a sample of the matchmaster 1.0 that i got and i normally wear an nc15 and can find it a little dark. I find the 1.0 to be a great match for me
I am so excited! I’ve been waiting for MAC to come out with a foundation to match my freaky pale skin.
this seems interesting im willing to give it a try cant wait 4 it 2 come out
Is it limited edition?
no, it says permanent.
This foundation sounds absoloutely perfect for my skin type 🙂 can’t wait to try it & see your review!
I’ll be interested to give these foundations a try and also see how the brush performs…the price for the brush is less than I would have expected from MAC (for a change!)
Probably because it’s synthetic.
FINALLY!!! A darker foundation range. Maybe I wont have to be forced to use makeup forever….
Preach!! Makeup companies tend to have “one shade” of foundation for WOC. We are the most colorful race ever! Not all black girls are the same shade.
i heard the 10 is equivalent to nw 60
oh my gosh, it actually comes with that pump? im sold already haha
It would be very nice a comparison between these ones and the normal NCs and NWs ones. Im from Brazil and will be buying it online, that’s why all matching help is needed.
I’m still waiting to hear from MAC regarding a comparison chart.
there’s one here, Christine, though you’ll probably want to wait for the official one from MAC?
anddddd I forgot to include the link: http://www.specktra.net/forum/thread/176359/mac-matchmaster-foundation-discussion/30#post_2146350
So that are neutral based to cover that range. ^__^
I was matched to be an NW15 but I’m closer to being an N3 so I’m anxious to see how this pans out for me! Yay!
wonder it will last through humidity. I hope so!
I’m really excited about this. I have never been able to find a foundation that matches my skin. It’s either too yellow, too pink, too peachy, or just too opaque and weird looking on me. I usually end up having to buy mineral makeup that lets you blend your own colours. I hope this works! The translucent pigments are what I’m interested in.
That’s me exactly. It is so frustrating! Very excited to try this…
I’m N3 in StudioFix powder foundation….I hope there’s a shade for me. I’m going to try this too. Thanks!
“(Except Asia), September 2012 (Asia)”
Yikes 🙁 & we still don’t have Pro Longwear foundation here! 🙁
I know! I was looking for the Pro Longwear concealor and it never came…. Sucks!
yeah, i don’t get it(i’m from a country from europe and we don’t even have mac stores here, i guess). an one year gap is weird
I have tried and played with these. No shade gaps, and the finish is flawless! Regarding texture, think Fix Fluid mixed with Prolongwear.
i can never found a foundation that matches my skin ton perfectly, as i have very light skin with an olive undertone. so these kind of claims make me laugh!
i’m with you sister!
also, why do they have 1 or 2 light pale shades, and 6 dark ones? that seems a bit unfair
are you being serious? next time you go out makeup browsing note the ratio of pale shades to dark shades. the point was to create colors for women of color, we are always forgotten when it comes to foundation…or they just don’t care to even make an attempt and put out two colors. of which we usually have to mix.
it’s just as hard to find very light shades. i thought the point was to create shades for ALL skintones?
It is had to find shades for both ends of the spectrum. As a very, very fair person I am thankful for the summer because with a tan I can use just about anything. When winter comes it is nearly impossible to find something perfect.
True but imagine how it feels when 365 days out of the year more cases than not there is nothing made for me.
IA a bit. I’m very tan and have at least 2 or 3 different shades on me, lol. Sometimes I’m light like or tan. Most people do, but that’s one of the reasons I don’t think about foundation. Even the picture I see nothing close. But the background is nice.
Maybe soon more companies can make for woc more. And not just 2-3 shades for what they think is tan/olive or dark. It’s confusing to find the right light or dark shade. It would be cool if a machine could make the perfect shade or instant makeup.
It is extremely hard to find shades lighter than NC/NW15 (I have a very limited selection with only a few brands since most do not go that light) – but I honestly do not care how many darker shades there are, more the merrier seriously.
just FYI, the lightest shade in this collection is lighter than the current colors offered by MAC. so pale ppl can be happy too
i agree though.. they added a shade darker than their usual, they should add a shade lighter as well. i know quite a few gals who would be better suited to a 10 rather than an nc15
I like the brush but I was never a fan of the MAC’s foundations.
Does translucent pigments mean neutral? I’m AA and I have yellow undertones and anything red based makes me look like an oompa loompa. Looks like I would be a 7.5 perhaps…I hate how 7 is so light and jumps to that dark 7.5 it’s like there is a shade missing which would be my perfect shade.
i was just thinking that
That’s the same thing I thought. Why the big jump?! I need what’s in between 7 and 7.5 like always. The jump in color is crazy!
i’m somewhere between NC50 and NW45 i was really expecting this foundation to be more neutral in the brown shades…but they only seem to be neutral in the lighter shades.
seems like i’m still going to have to mix foundations *sigh*
I’ve never tried a MAC foundation, but this one sounds interesting enough to add to my fall make-up wishlist!
omg, MTE
i’ve never bought a MAC foundation, but i don’t think i can resist this one!
it’s crazy that this line will only be launched september next year in Asia. hello MAC, we’re quite a lucrative market too! ridiculous.
I would imagine it has nothing to with them wanting it to be delayed by a year but something to do with imports/customs/regulations.
true that, it occurred to me after i typed in my comment, whoops! this collection has great potential here though so i can’t wait to see it on our shores soon.
Maybe something light enough for my ultra fair neutral Asian skintone? 😀 was kinda hoping it would have been a less matte finish though cuz all mattes make me look like a ghost 🙁
WHy is there such a big gap in the colours! It goes quite light to quite dark.. In the second picture the first and second are so different. I would need a middle shade 🙁
I wouldn’t trust promo bottle images – wait until it launches and either check out the shades in person or wait for more feedback from others 🙂 You really have no idea until that point!
This sure sounds nice! I hope it performs well.
I think it’s too expensive but this is gonna be the first of a new generation of foundations at MAC with improved formulas, let’s hope the colors will be suitable and something lighter than NC15 but not too pink as NW15
I’m very curious about the ingredients…usually none of the MAC skin products ever work for me because I need my foundation to be paraben free =(
This looks great! Although I have to admit, the price is making me cry – $75 here in New Zealand, that’s $62.40 in US dollars! But then again all cosmetic prices here are seriously inflated.
I absolutely can not wait to buy this. Yippee.
This sounds great… let’s see if it actually *works* though.
2012 for Asia?!?!??! What?!?!?! Booooo! 🙁
the promo image with the 2 women is so 90s! it screams 90s album cover art for me lol.
This sounds very promising…I look forward to giving it a try!
This sounds really good. I have trouble matching my pale warm skin….Will be relying on you guys for good info. I’m in australia and we don’t even have the Prolongwear yet…bought mine off ebay… Took me two bottles to get it right but atleast I have both seasons covered with some mixing 🙂
Pro Longwear has been in Australia for quite a while now. I am in Australia to and I bought a bottle from a counter months ago.
Did any one else immediately ave the thought that this just looks like MAC’s version of something that’s already been done by a few different drugstore foundations? (i.e.; CoverGirl TruBlend, L’Oreal True Match, Maybelline Fit Me, etc.)
Hopefully they will now have something for me. I somewhat matched to NC37/40 but they just aren’t quite right.
Very excited to try this. I love my Pro Longwear but anything that specifically targets oily skin is a must for me. Hope I love this even more. Even more curious as to what lippy the brunette in the promo add is wearing. Any guesses, Christine?
Any foundation that contains an SPF deserves a try in my book! I’m currently addicted to Chanel Vitalumiere, but I’ll go ahead and try MAC Matchmaster when my current bottle of foundation runs out, based on this post. Thanks Temptalia!
haha, i’m pretty sure the lightest is too orange for me
pretty exciting – can’t wait for the comparison chart! =D
it grabbed me at the reducing oil bit, not that my estee lauder double wear foundation isnt my holy grail one, i just got an obsession to keep on trying mac foundations
Hopefully ill find my match …. MAC foundation usually oxidize on my skin even with a primer .. hopefully this one isn’t orange ..
I’m hopeful that it’s awesome.. yet I’ll remain skeptical until I actually get a chance to use it.
I hope that they actually have a palce one this time. The lightest shade seems to get darker with each new foundation release. Pro Longwear in NC15 is ridiculously dark and peach!
This looks great but I just know it’ll make me break-out! I can’t wait to see some reviews especially from sensitive-skinned gals. My skin hates MAC foundation D:
‘Soft focus’? Sounds like HD to me!
Finally some new foundations, I really want to try these. Lots of A/W fashion show used this foundation and the reviews seemed quite good.
“this formula reduces excess shine-creating oil, and who could resist?” Not me that’s for sure!!!!
I’m an NC45 but I recently bought the NC44.5 in the Studio Fix powder foundation and the NC44.5 doesn’t oxidize on me or turn orange. So for people who have that complaint try as much as you can to find and buy the ‘halfie’ .5 colors. but I’m sort of a brown with orangey-yellow undertones anyway so I have no real problems with foundations oxidizing on me! LOL
I’m an NC45 and have the problem with MAC foundations oxidizing on me so I just gave up on their foundations. I had no idea they had “halfie” colors. Where did you find it?
dafgyeihurnoa;wmeir, i’m so excited!! i literally did a little happy dance when i found out about these! 😀
im so happy! this is woc friendly. mac range is getting better, i just hope the actually foundation is good!!
I stopped using MAC foundation years ago because it would break me out but I haven’t found a HG foundation yet, so I’m very interested in this foundation. Also after looking at the shade chart, it appears I will be able to find a perfect match. So I’m pretty excited.
i’m quite happy with my pro longwear in NW35. i may skip this due to the price and fact that i have enough foundations to last me a lifetime
I can’t wait for these to come out! I’m of Asian and Caucasian backgrounds, and I can never find a foundation to match my skintone. Currently, I need to mix two foundations (MAC NC20 and NW25) to get a color to match my skintone.
Oooh, and right when I’m starting to get low on my foundation! I’m definitely going to have to try these out.
it’s already available in korea.. but still waiting for the review..
is it oil free…?
Keeping fingers crossed for something light enough for me and not extremely YELLOW
=\ Aw was hoping there would be a matchfor my pale skin but I guess not…
The lightest shade has been reported MUCH lighter than NC15. About 10 or 5 (!!!).
Do you know if this is a water based or silicone based foundation? Do you know if this will work in an airbrush system?
This is awesome. I got a sample and first used it all day yesterday. This made my skin look so natural it really was “my skin but better”. All day I got compliments and I looked as though I was not wearing foundation. Even in this humid hot weather I didn’t blot once and I had it on all day. At the end of the day when it came to wash it off I didn’t want to. It still looked so nice.
Umm wtf sept 2012? That’s one year later!! >__<
Those shade numbers cannot be right. NC50 is 7.5 but NW50 is 9.5!? Granted I’m pale so I have never used them but that bizarre!
It might have to do with tones and the like – not just how light/dark it is 🙂
Just had the pleasure to try this new foundation the other day and it’s awesome! I looks great, and it gives me a perfect coverage. I’m a 1.5 skin type.
I’d love to be able to get my mitts on this baby – can’t wait til it’s actually released here in Canada.
It’s already on the Canadian site 🙂
Here on the US website, I see this foundation and its $39.00… big jump from the listed price here…. and I assume you can use your pro discount?!?!?!
Are you sure you’re on the U.S. site? The Canadian price is $39.
interesting, this is already available in the UK, so unfair! lol its bigger/has more product than the normal foundation and a pump?! oh yes, i will peeping this out when its released.
I’ve bought this foundation (I live in Ireland and out it’s here for a few weeks now) I’m usually a NW20 in prolongwear but I wanted a change so I tried this and loved it’s light texture (I was matched to a 1.5). It’s easy to apply, you don’t use as much product as it’s blends well. I’m definately giving it the thumbs up. My next purchase will be some of the prolongwear eyeshadows tested some of the colours in the shop and they are divine, thank god their permanent because I’m majorly cuttin my addiction to one purchase of one product a month.
I can’t believe this is up the site already! 🙂
on the*
I’m patiently waiting for the review 🙂
me too =)
This stuff ROCKS!!! Thanks MAC!!
i got mine yesterday and this stuff is the bomb.com!!!
Has anyone tested this in photos yet? Sounds lovely, but the SPF sort of turns me off….
I sampled this and so far i love it. Color match is wow. I am nc47-ish.nw43-ish (I have no color match in MAC foundation/powders), and 7.5 is my match. 7.0 (according to the chart) was too light. It controlled my oil and I didn’t wear primer! Decent coverage and petty lightweight! yay for matchmaster!
I bought some of this today, I have never tried any of MAC liquid foundations, I was using Studio fix plus powder, I really like it but I was almost out so I figured I would try this out, Im nw20 in the longwear concealer and a c3 in the powder my match in match master ended up being 1.0 I also go some of the mineral skinfinish powder to set it in med go figure, its what the MAC artist suggested, Ill put it on myself tomorrow. 🙂
I’m loving it… even though it’s a bit more expensive than what I’m used to. I will spend the extra for the benefit of not having excess shine-creating oil. The demi-matte finish is great.
I dont live in asia. but WOW a year later than the rest?how come?
This is great! I can’t wait to add this to my kit! 🙂
I have been trying this foundation for a few days now and the technique I use to apply to me makes all the difference. FIrst of I am really impressed and I love it so far. I have very oily skin (T-zone) and any foundations just lefts and becomes greasy looky so I try to stick with powders over liquids. But this drys to a powdery feel I am NW35 in studio scuplt, and Studio fix powder but for match master I do #5 which I may can go for #4 9which I will try. But what I do after priming my skin I use the match master applying with my fingers and pressing the foundation into my sking all over. Then I use studio fix powder (very Little) and apply to my tzone then apply sheer select loose powder all over to set in NC30 or sometimes I apply the prep n prime translucent loose all over to set. So far so good it looks amazing. One day I will try alone on my face and see how it stands up…!
I just purchased the MM in @7 I really like it!!
I absolutely LOVE this foundation!!!! It’s the best thing I’ve ever tried. I used to wear the NC25 studio fix compact. I have very dry skin, so that just made my face look so cakey and ashy. It was not a good look. I decided to try this one after a guy at the MAC store recommended it to me, and I fell in love. My skin looks fabulous. It has like an airbrush finish. The only thing that bothered me about this was that I had to go back 3 times to change the color. The first one I got was the 3.0, that’s the one the guy tried on me. As soon as I walked out the store I looked completely orange. Now, I’m a 1.5! This one fits me perfectly. I will never go back to the Studio Fix.
I’m NW15-NW20 but I like to always match myself 1 shade darker so I prefer NW25 colors and I use this in 2.0 which is pretty good match for NW25, For NW20 I’d go with 1.5. I actually really love this foundation. It’s very light and blends seamlessly. Reminds me of MUFE Mat Velvet + MUFE HD combined which is a great middle!
