Definitely liking the looks of those magnetic empty palettes! Now that would be useful for me for sure.
Idk about the rest. Perhaps I will feel an ounce of excitement if and when you decide to get some or all of these? But for now, nothing rocking my boat!
They’re pretty much the only thing that interests me too, Nancy. The thing is that MAC’s pro pans all have magnets already attached (I found this out when I tried to put them into a Z palette) so these would only work for my MAC shadows if I found a way to melt/pry the magnets off (and then, of course, they would no longer work in my MAC quads). I wish MAC would go the way of almost every other company and put the magnet IN the palette and leave the pans without magnets attached.
Mariella- right?!? At the present time, I have roughly 95% of my MAC e/s singles in a bunch of those $1 e.l.f. empty quad palettes! Ridiculously inconvenient. Would so much rather have them in something like this, where I can have more together in one spot.
Nancy, have you figured an easy way to get the magnets off the backs of the MAC pro pans? I’ve never depotted a MAC shadow – just way too much trouble and risk – but I know from watching how to do it that you then have to get a stick on magnet to get them to stick into the MAC palettes. ABH, MUFE, Buxom and Inglot all are in plain metal pans without magnets on the bottoms and they stick beautifully in Z palettes or in the ABH or INGLOT System palettes but not MAC – the magnets make ’em fall out since the magnets repel one another.
Tbh, I’ve never tried to do that, Mariella. Always scared I’d ruin them. Well, there is the MUFE plain metal palette? I *could* get creative with some pretty fabric and a glue gun, eh? ?
Rather boring 🙁
Aw man I thought the eyeshadow palette was a blush and Highlighter palette. I would have been all over that!
That was my first thought too, Indya – I also thought blush and highlighters/contours. Even so, I’d probably have passed on it but as eyeshadows, they seem a bit ordinary.
Me too. I was all excited that was a blush palette. I like Tarte blushes, but not so much their eyeshadows.
I did too..that wudda been cool
Weird how many of us assumed at first glance that it’s a blush palette — I did too. If it were, I probably would have gotten it, even though I see some potential dupes. But eyeshadow? Nah.
I bought the Mermaid Lipstick and the Glitter Liner sets early this morning!
Those were the two products I had my eye on as well. They seem to just be mini versions of the Rainforest of the Sea Color Splash Lipsticks and those LE glitter liners they had a few months back. I wonder if the formula of the lipsticks is the same… (*fingers crossed*)
Oh boy. . . I thought I was more or less over tarte, but man, I love the packaging design! Let’s see how well I hold out against these.
The brushes are pretty.
But they’re not blushes, they’re eyeshadows. Too bad!
The brushes are nice. I’ve never used any of Tarte’s brushes so I don’t know how well they perform. I usually just save for the Wayne Goss brushes one at a time.
The packaging is always cute on these sets and they’re affordable, but it’s starting to feel like the same lip colors are released year after year. The only interesting thing here is that face palette, to me. It also seems like every brand does a glitter liner for New Years’, and they rarely turn out well. Glitter liner is a difficult thing to formulate and it tends to turn out patchy. But we’ll see!
Tarte already released the glitter liner in those three shades (first the gold & silver, and then the rose gold), but they were semi-LE products (pretty sure the gold & silver released holidays last year and was sold through for months, and the rose gold was for the unicorn collection I think, but i could be wrong.) I feel, in theory, that they should just be minis of those previous releases and have the same formula, but since they’re holiday releases, it wouldn’t surprise me if they had a different formula than the originals. IIRC, the originals were decent quality though.
Looks pretty solid
I do not see the Spice up your stare LE Tartiest liner set listed here? Perhaps not part of the holiday release? I picked it up this morning.. couldn’t resist ?
I NEVER find packaging particularly enticing and am always a little baffled when people talk about how cute packaging is and how they want to buy something just to own it. But this stuff is so up my alley it is ridiculous. I still am not actually planning on getting anything (am on a no-buy) but gosh I love the way this stuff looks. (Except the layout of the actual shadows in that palette. Plus, 20 Shades of Beige zzzzzz.)
I initially thought the eye shadow palette was a blush one – with all of those plummy shades. And I was thinking how nice it was – anyway, this looks like a pretty good collection – versatile shades and not too large.
I was just looking at that eyeshadow palette on their website. I have those types of colors many times over, but the palette sure is pretty.
That eyeshadow palette is ridiculously attractive to me. Fortunately for my wallet, I’ve never been impressed by Tarte’s holiday/special/limited editions.
I wonder what those eyeshadow shades would look like used as blush shades? I’ve done crazier things with my makeup
I’m willing to bet they’ll make better blushes than eyeshadows.
The only thing that really stand out to me in this collection is the packaging. The colors look kind of nice, but kind of boring too, so I guess I need to swatch them and see if the quality convinces me.
Tarte has never been one of my favourite brands, but I really like the look of those brushes. This might be the first time I purchase anything from their holiday collection. 🙂
Is it weirding anyone else out that the “reflection” of the not-a-blush-palette is … impossible?
LOL!!!! I just noticed that, too!
And now I will never be able to unsee that. ?
So so pretty.
Love the eye palette
That palette had me fooled, as initially I thought it was blush!
I can’t handle how pretty the packaging is for these products! Seems like a nice selection, too. I don’t NEED those brushes, but I sure do want them.
I am very intrigued by the Quick Dry & Glossy Lip Set!! I love their matte lip paints! This would be awesome to venture out with shades!
I remember a couple years ago I read a comment on the tarte holiday release page that said that tarte always releases the same type of products and colors and I’m kind of starting to agree with that. I feel like I already have all of these products!
I haven’t ever seen an eyeshadow palette that is so “me” – I can’t wait for your review on it!!
the design of the eye shadow palette is gorgeous.
Does anyone know if there’s a difference between the two empty palettes asides from their prices? I want to know how many mac, ABH or Makeup geek pans can fit into them, especially the purple one
