Make Up For Ever 3 Frozen Orange Star Lit Powder ($21.00 for 0.02 oz.) is a cool, white base with pink to golden orange shift. It had semi-sheer, buildable coverage applied dry and opaque coverage applied with a dampened brush. The finish was shimmery with slightly larger sparkles here and there, but it did not emphasize my skin’s natural texture. It wore well for eight hours on me before fading slightly.
I was so frustrated trying to take photos of this one applied–I think I have shot over a hundred photos–as I could not get the shift to show up on camera like it appears in person. The shift has delightful movement from pink to gold to orange, as the orange is more of a yellowish orange than a really dark or reddish orange. Straight-on, the color did appear a bit sallow on my complexion, so I have found that for actual wear, it is best paired with another blush to minimize the base color coming through while still enjoying the shift. You can see hints of the pink and orange appearance in the cap, and the color there is very similar to the shift at the other end of the spectrum on the skin!
The Star Lit Powders can be used to “highlight eyes, lips and cheeks” with an “ultra-fine loose powder” that can be used “wet or dry to customize coverage intensity and luminosity.” While checking the weight on these, I noticed that the weight differs from shade to shade; this one had a mere 0.02 oz. while others ranged from 0.03 oz. to 0.09 oz. I also noticed that it appears the brand identifies what area you can use a shade on by listing an icon on the back of the jar in the shape of a pair of lips, an eyeball, and then a face (presumably for cheeks).

Frozen orange looks so fabulous in the swatch, but I’m struggling to see it in your full face photo. I will trust your review. I’m thinking I need this: don’t really have anything quite like it.
It’s definitely visible on the face, but it is somewhere between the lid photo and the angled swatch 🙂

Aahahhaaha, yes I know what you mean, it can be SO hard to capture the color shift on camera! Have you tried doing it by camera video? That usually does the trick for me.

I am very interested in this shade and frozen green! Did you try them on the eyes? I have hooded eyes so I wonder if I would need some sort of strong adhesive to make it work there. (most pigments just disappear on me)
