I don’t own a single thing from this brand and there are no plans in the works for me to start incorporating ABH in my collection, but I still get excited when I see new releases or launches from them. They seem like such a classy, stable company that maintains their quality and values their customer base. I have been really enjoying watching the brand grow; it is the one brand that is on my radar/that I look forward to new releases just for the sheer excitement of seeing the offerings.

Erica Avatar

Oh you should definitely incorporate ABH in your life. The Brow Wiz and the Modern Renaissance are worth it. You’re truly missing out!

chris Avatar

Two summers ago, I was looking for opaque lip glosses. I looked at reviews and youtube and fell in LOVE with ABH. i currently use two of their brow products, concealer, foundation sticks and own almost the entire line of lip glosses. Try their recent fall and summer lip gloss sets for $26 or a full gloss for $16. Vintage is a great pick nude to start with. I am a MAC NC55

Kat Avatar

I think they could be used sparingly with maybe Love Letter or Venetian Red from the MR palette to have a nice sunset eye going on! I am just excited about everything in there, at least if they are the same quality of course.

Joanne R. Avatar

I need this in my life NOW! Its the perfect compliment to my collection. Can’t wait to get my hands on and dig into this beauty!! <3 <3

Seraphine Avatar

Oh, what an interesting palette!!!

I don’t think it’s worth it for me because shades like Electric, Destiny, Untamed, and Axis are not very flattering on my green eyes. And the colors that I do like in this palette are similar to shades I already own in Modern Renaissance and Sweet Peach.

But what a gorgeous mix of colors for someone else!

Seraphine Avatar

Destiny, how do you wear green eyeshadow? I’d totally LOVE to use greens, but they always seems to take away from my eye color. Any advice you can give would be great!!

Destiny Avatar

I use them as the accent colour in a look I have dark green eyes so a smokey green just in the outer corner. For this look I may have a standard nuteral look for the first chocolate bar palette then use something like c-note for urban decay vice 4 softly in the outer corner. If I wish to be super subtle about wearing a green I will pop a light mint in my inner corner and sweep that onto my lid to brighten my eyes while enhancing the colour. And lastly of I wish to go loud I will pop the green onto the centre of the lid and do not in a halo style so I have enough netural around the green to not over load my eyes; I do this a lot with Macs neoprene green. Also, sometimes I just go full ham and wear all green with a brown liner and that pulls it back. I hope this was helpful … And not to much to read lol.

Seraphine Avatar

Wow, thank you for such an awesome, detailed response, Destiny! I’m definitely going to save and try out these suggestions. The only green I own right now is in my Sweet Peach palette, so I’ll start there.

Lulle Avatar

I have green eyes too, I learned a tip a long time ago that I think works well (I think it was from Bobbi Brown): use a pop of green on the very center of your lower lash line, blending the end into whatever other color you are using in the outer portion.

Cinthya Avatar

Try adding the urban decay primer potion to your bottom lash line it will make you eye shadows sick for a nice amount of hours. If you go to Sephora they can give you a sample so you don’t spend $20 or just buy it if it doesn’t work return it. I hope my tip helps you.

Zoe Avatar

Oh no.
I have been able to not care about most Fall makeup releases this year, but this is too tempting.
That palette has some matte shades I have been considering buying as singles (axis, untamed)./

Lulle Avatar

Hmmmm I don’t know about this palette. It’s definitely a very unique combination of colors. But I’m staring at it and I don’t see looks I could do with those shades. Replace the matte orange and yellow with a shimmery taupe and a satin cool deep brown and I’d buy it right away. But then it wouldn’t be as unique…

I guess I’m not that creative when it comes to pairing colors, so the selection leaves me rather puzzled. It will be interesting to see what looks people come up with! And I’m wondering if this palette will launch or popularize new trends like the Modern Renaissance did.

Erica Avatar

I think if you took to the MR you’d take to this. I see so many color combos already. But yeah you have to like color. It’s just nice to see a,company releasing something new. How many boring taupe or champagne neutral palettes do we need? How many warm palettes. It’s nice to see somebody actually release something new and unique. Cool toned but it isn’t a palette of purples and greys.

Mariella Avatar

I agree – orange and yellow (along with the red I’ve been sporting against my will from a rash) aren’t colours that look good on me, nor do I like them at all. But some of the other shades look so “wantable”. Still, I think when push comes to shove, I will have the willpower to skip this one and check out dupes in my stash for shades I do like.

Julia Avatar

I would have thought I”d be so excited for an Anastasia launch, but this is a total miss for me! The palette is just not my color set, I don’t wear lipstick, and while I love highlighter, I hate liquid formulas! I guess it’s for the best LOL. I’ll keep waiting for the next Glow Kit 🙂

Neonails Avatar

Yeah, I think this is something I really want to see in person. I might be wrong, but right now I think I’m going to like it a lot.

Susan Avatar

I agree with you. I’m almost positive I’m going to get it — a combination of ABH quality, lots of mattes, thank-goodness-it’s-not-another-all-brown-palette, and FOMO (I waffled about the Mario Master palette so long that I missed it) — but want to see it in person. Been thinking all along that the first color is a pure white but someone said it’s actually a very pale pink. ???

Erica Avatar

You have to like color and the Modern Renaissance. If you took the chance with that, this isn’t so out there. The Mario I’d nice but ordinary. Buy a Lorac Pro palette or something from Tarte and you’ve got that in spades. This palette is unique and not the same ol same ol every company releases time and time again!

LindaP Avatar

Except for brow whiz, I have never really liked anything else by ABH. Modern Renaissance and Mario both turned to mud on me, and I didn’t enjoy using them. I know, I know…in the vast minority. I think the palette colors are interesting, but I don’t know that I’ll venture there again. Gave the last two away.

Summer_Breeze Avatar

Same for me too. Those two palettes turned “muddy” on me, I had to return them. The colors of this palette are interesting, though not quite flattering on me. I’m on the fence about this one.

Wednesday Avatar

Half the palette would be a sour puss pass with my light olive skin of the green cast kind and green olive coloured eyes.

The exceptions: All Star, Mercury, Axis, and Rowdy ..wow.. I could pile on serious love as a quad… might even be able to pull off Untamed if it has very blue base.

I don’t think this one is for me, but it will be fun to see what others come up with for this palette.
I appreciate ABH creativity. This certainly doesn’t look like what everyone else is doing. Let the copying begin!

Katherine T. Avatar

Ahahahaha! ABH MR was the palette that launched a thousand copycats, until we’re swimming in warm browns/reds/oranges. Could Subculture be the one that launches a thousand cooler toned kits? Just might if the quality is there. I think there’s a lot of pent up demand for a cooler color scheme

Alecto Avatar

This palette is inspired. So many palettes are just “more of the same”; this one veers strongly, but still has great colors. I’m looking at this from a tiny phone screen so it’s a little hard to tell, but it looks like the colors I would want matte … are. The dark purple makes me nervous, but if anyone could get it right, it would be ABH.

kjh Avatar

Maybe less than the photo on Muse, but I see yellow. Even the gray is a yellow gray. Many people are finding this hard to read, but I’ll bet Christine does some fab looks. Suspect this would look swampy on me. Will def have to swatch it in person. It is def a creative departure. You can count on ABH to do that. As Wwendy said, let the derivatives begin!

Vicki Avatar

Makes me think of the Jeffree Star Androgeny palette. He had the same teal blue and green and orange in his palette. Are all but two shades in the ABHs palette matte?

Katherine T. Avatar

Yes, those were my thoughts too! Some of the colors remind me of the JS Androgeny palette, which I have, and is killer quality, love it! I’m still interested though, as there’s more colors here

Mariah Avatar

OMGGGG I want swatches of this baby! I fell in love when I FINALLY caved and ordered the Modern Renaissance pallet, and now anything Anastasia makes gets me excited! I’ve never used SUCH NICE shadows!

Katherine T. Avatar

OMG, a cooler toned palette with some interesting, unique colors! Looks perfect for fall. And lots of mattes, too! Aaaaah, gimmmeeeee!!! And I see a purple lippie…..uh oh

What Mum Loves Avatar

I have got a feeling that I am going to see this palette 203182309 times a day now 🙂 But I get it- Anastasia does eyeshadows brilliantly x

Rachael Campbell Avatar

I wish they would have made the new palette’s holes more close together and put in 2 more shimmers, then it would be more complete. As it stands, the colors do not coordinate as easily as the MR that everyone went crazy for and will require other palettes to make looks. I don’t think this will as big a seller but who knows.

Lulle Avatar

That’s what I’m wondering too. The MR had bold shades but overall was a cohesive palette with a simple color theme throughout – great as long as you like red-toned shades. This one is much more daring with the color combo. Matte teal with orange, yellow and gray… it’s a bit more “editorial”. I think it will sell, just because of ABH reputation to make great palettes, but I wonder if people are really going to get as much use out of it as they did the MR. I’d definitely need tutorial to help me create looks.

Ester Avatar

So dang excited about that shadow palette. I’m on a no-buy/product use-up, but when this palette was first (sadly) leaked, I knew this would be the one eye shadow exception. I have been so good and not bought the UD Naked Heat, the Sephora Pro palettes, etc. but THIS… wow. It has a lot to live up to because of the Modern Ren, but I love how it pushed my limited and what I was comfortable with wearing on my eyes and this palette looks like it will do the same. I see SO many amazing look ideas already in my head, and am really glad there is a WHITE shade since I’m pale. I’m also interested in the lipsticks, some of the names are calling me like “Stargazer,” but will be good because of my no-buy.

MoMerrell Avatar

this looks great! modern Renaissance was such a messy fall-out disappointment for me so I am hoping this formula is up to par with their first release which is still in rotation in my collection. I love the colors of this, it’s very all-seasons.

Alecto Avatar

Okay … I just looked at the lipsticks on the ABH site, and they have shades with names like “Dread,” “Dead Roses,” “Rage”… I’m not usually influenced to buy a product by the name, but I don’t see how I could avoid at least buying “Dead Roses.” 🙂

Pixie Avatar

I got my Subculture palette in the mail on Thursday and I LOVE the colors. Axis is *exactly* the same color as my eyes, and it looks amazing grunge-smudged around them. I’m still playing with the palette, but I’m probably not going to be wearing many of these colors for work unless I mix them with lighter neutrals.
