What have been your favorite TV shows lately?: Lucifer, Open All Hours, Class, Doctor Who…don’t watch a whole lot of tv
Haul: While on vacation, we stopped at an outlet mall with a Cosmetics Company Store and when I walked in they said “Everything is 50% off the marked price today for Memorial Day!” WHAT?? So I indulged in a Bobbie Brown Shades for Days gloss kit ($17), BB Glow to Go highlighter palette ($25 omg deal of the year) and the MAC x Brooke Shields Veluxe Pearlfusion palette in Mortal ($15). I probably could have skipped that last one, but it’s not bad and for such a low price I really don’t regret it. I also caved after I saw your review on the Jouer Skinny Dip palette – I’m a sucker for metallics!- and that should arrive today.
Weekend plans: Got my little veggie garden planted this morning (self-five!) and I’m headed into the city later today for a coworker-friend’s birthday happy hour. Hoping to buy some large planters for the patio this weekend and fill them with herbs and flowers. This warm weather has my green thumb twitching 🙂
What have been your favorite TV shows lately?: My husband and I just finished the last available season of The Great British Baking Show – it’s so cute and everyone is nice to each other which is such a change from American competition shows. I’ve also been re-watching all of the old seasons of Project Runway on my own.
I also love The Great British Baking Show and you are right – one of the nicest features is the admiration and support the bakers give one another (I remember in one series, because they all share a fridge, one baker accidentally took another one’s custard that was chilling and he felt dreadful; on a US “reality show”, he’d have been only too happy to sabotage “the competition”). They all seem really humble and they clearly like one another and are so sad when someone has to leave.
Great deals!
Oh I forgot about Project Runway and Great British Baking Show! Great shows!
Congrats on great deal/haul at the CCO!! They seem to have more pop-up sales than they used to. I wish they had a customer call list when these come up as I’d happily take a drive to my CCO for a sale on top of the normal % off!
– Get some rest! Sometimes, the best answer for some period of just too much-ness is a thoughtless fun activity like binge watching a favorite show for sure.
– Haul: Anastasia eyeshadow singles in China Rose and Soft Gold (am liking both a lot); Nars soft matte concealor in Chantilly (so far so good). It will be a low-buy period for me for awhile, just found out I must replace my house’s HVAC unit, ugh.
– Weekend: nothing in particular, the usuals: pilates, errands and tasks I cannot get around to addressing during the week.
– Favorite TV show lately: Dr. Who. Just got a new cable package, it has BBC America and now I’m totally hooked on Dr Who series.
The Anastasia China Rose is my go to Lid Color with Fresh as my go to Under Brow color . Soft Gold is on my wishlist !
Haul: Nothing this week so far unless you count two new computers and an ac unit.
Weekend: I’m not sure yet, but I’d like some brunch pls.
TV: I’ve been watching The Leftovers, all the CW superhero shows, House of Cards, Master of None, and The Last Kingdom. Out of those the Leftovers and Last Kingdom are my favorites. I love Master of None, I’m just upset that it’s over over. No more Dev, Arnold, or Denise 🙁
Haul: Baby clothes- my little baby is already outgrowing her clothes and she’s only two months old! ?
Weekend: gym, having a friend over on Sunday to meet baby.
TV: I’ve been working through shows on Netflix. We finished Master of None and are starting this season’s House of Cards. While I’m home alone with baby, I started getting into Parks and Recreation and I really like it!
Parks and Recreation is the only comedy style show that I watched in its entirety, all episodes, all seasons. Loved it!
Haul: I got the Tarte Clay Stick Foundation in Fair Neutral last Friday and have been testing out since monday. lol
Also from Sephora deluxe samples in Buxom Big & Sexy™ Bold Gel Lipstick in Pink Decoy, Smashbox Photo Finish Oil Free Foundation Primer Pore Minimizing, and Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Quickie Contour Stick.
I also got 4 of the L’oreal Infallible Lip Paints and 5 of Maybelline Color Show Lip Crayons.
Weekend plans: Work and resumes again. Going to see the new Alien movie on Tuesday.
What have been your favorite TV shows lately?: Doctor Who and Cosplay Melee (watched the first episodes on youtube, but starts in Canada next week) & Orphen Black when it starts next week. 🙂
I saw an interesting cross-breed the other day. I didn’t get the chance to ask but it looks like Golden Retriever / Chow Chow. I could have been another mix but it had the fluff (but long and not sticking outwards ) coat and build of a Chow with all the Golden Retriever colour and ears with a shorter and wide mussel.
I will have to ask the owner if I run into them again.
Interesting. When you know a fair amount about dogs, the cross breeds can be the most interesting. When I taught jr high, their favorite book was a remainder called What kind of dog is this? It was about cross breeds, with photos and blurbs. I loved it, too. The kids marked it up dreadfully. I saw these two dachsies again that look like smooths with terrier vests, rather than like wirehaired dachshunds. Love ’em! We also have a Catahoula-husky maybe pit of mastiff cross. You see the first two, but the general body shape is confusing. I may have a long history of purebreds, but I have great appreciation for variety and hybrid vigor.
Haul: Elf eyebrow pencil in Dark Brown, Estée Lauder Wild Poppy Pure Color Love lipstick, Physicians Formula Bronze Butter Bronzer and Plum Rose Butter Blush–used them both everyday this week, but they’re going back. I can’t handle the smell. Who is lying to me saying it smells like a delicious vacation?! Y’all, I only get synthetic butter popcorn lollipops.
Weekend plans: My husband is home from police academy so probably lots of farting around and restaurants. We are homebodies who love a great meal.
What have been your favorite TV shows lately?: Parks & Rec, NCIS, Sherlock
I’m sorry you’ve had a hard week, Christine. Hope everything is okay. Praying for you!
I wanted to share with everyone that my wonderful doggo Gogi, a 7-year-old Pitbull Rottweiler, is doing so much better. I don’t think I’ve ever shared his health struggles here–he has severe allergies to all plants, grass, trees, etc. so he would chew and scratch his skin so much that he lost a lot of hair. Docs prescribed a medicated shampoo that completely destroyed his back. He’s been on prednisone for a year, and that kept the edge off, but he was experiencing side effects from prolongs use. My husband and I would only walk him at night because we thought people would think we were abusing him (y’all… we’ve spent thousands on this little guy. Nothing seemed to help). But a few weeks ago, he received a shot of something and that’s really helped. He’s growing lots of hair back and is more playful. My husband and I are just so overjoyed!!
LOL I kind of agree about the scent of the Butter Bronzer and Blushes– it’s definitely buttery! I’m glad to hear your pup is doing better; hopefully the treatment is sustainable and he get back to a more normal dog life!
Yay Gogi!!! So glad he’s improving. You just hate to do long term steroids. People prob would not think you were abusing him, but you’d have to have far too many conversations/explanations. Watch out for nighttime wild canines!
Oh so glad to hear your dog is doing much better!
I’m glad to hear your dog is doing better.
Good to know about the butter scent. Fake butter scent makes me nauseous.
I’m so happy Gogi is doing better. Poor dog.
It must have been s hard time for you all.
I hope he’ll keep getting better.
I’m sorry you had a rough week, Temptalia! I hope you get some much deserved R&R this weekend. Thanks again for all of your wonderful reviews, they really pick me up when I’m feeling down.
Haul: MAC Extra Dimension Blush in Cheeky Bits
Weekend plans: A grand voyage to Costco with my partner.
What have been your favorite TV shows lately?: Jane the Virgin for sure.
OMG yes Jane the Virgin is soooo good!
Whatever mood he’s in, he’s always too adorable !
* Jouer Skinny Dip metallic shadow palette – OMG, this is stunning, just stunning!!! Thanks Christine, I was going to skip this one until I saw your sneak peek swatches, then my jaw hit the keyboard, so glad I grabbed this!! The light pink (Bikini) was the only one that was stiff and dry, but it’s workable and buildable with a stiffer brush, but all of the others were super pigmented, buttery smooth, and insanely metallic . So far, I’ve only tested the light silver on my eye, and it was a winner. My lids are super oily, but I only used regular primer (no glitter glue), there was no fallout during application (a miracle considering how shimmery these are), and it lasted 11 hours with no creasing or fading. At $40 for 6 stunning shadows, I think this palette is a total steal, esp. with 20% off +cash back from Dermstore. And I can’t say enough good things about Dermstore – very frequent 20% off sales, cash rewards program, free shipping and free returns with no minimum, and super fast delivery. I usually order my goodies around 10 pm at night, they ship it out the next morning, and it’s on my doorstep within 2-3 days, even though it’s coming almost 2,500 miles away, from East Coast to CA.
*ColourPop – Birthday Shadow (OMG –where have you been all my life??? I have been searching and searching for you. The perfect shade of metallic rose gold, just stunning, and it’s free too! They need to make this baby permanent), Blotted Lippies in Candy Floss and Sucker (wanted to try the formula), Highlighter in Perilune (love the unique green shimmer), Pressed Shadow in Pep Talk, Highlighter in Martian (kind of sheer but can be built up. Suggest getting CP Sticky Sweet instead, I have it, it’s 99% dupe and much better quality)
*Weekend – invited to Sephora VIB event this Sat to preview fall product releases, but not sure if I can get up early enough. I’m not a morning person at all and love sleeping in on weekends, but I’m curious, so we’ll see….. Birthday dinner with friends, test makeup, then the usual chores
*TV -don’t watch much but I like watching Dateline investigations when I have time
Katherine, I ordered mine, too! It is due to arrive on Monday, and I can barely wait! ?Not sure why pinky metallics tend to be like that (think UD Provacateur?).
And I feel exactly the same way about tomorrow’s Rouge event. Too early for me! Early a.m.’s can wreak havoc on the rest of my day sometimes. ?
Are any other Rouges going to the event? I have to work so I’ll miss it, but I’m curious to know what items they are previewing.
Oh Nancy, that Jouer palette is going to look stunning on you!! If you post some looks with it, let me know. Yes, those light metallic pinks are so tricky to get right, but I think it’s workable, just need to be a bit more patient with it. Ahahahahaha! Yeah Sephora always has them super duper early on weekend morning, like 8:30 am, that’s the earliest I roll out of bed on weekends, and by the time I shower, eat breakfast, get dressed, do my hair, and put on my makeup, the event is over. So I might have to skip a few steps to make it there on time, hope I don’t scare anyone there 😉
Oh Christine, my gosh, I just read your comments, so sorry it’s been such a rough week for you
🙁 Yes, please take some time off. I’m sure we’ve all gone thru tough times and had to do the same. But I hope nothing too serious, and whatever it is, please don’t be so hard on yourself. Love you and and hoping the best for you!
Sorry to hear you’ve had a rough week 🙁 Hope you can take some time off, and Mellan will be of comfort to you . Love you and hoping the best for you!
I decided not to go to the VIP Rouge event when I learned one of the palettes is being released mid-June. It might be a birthday present but I have time to wait for the reviews. For those who are attending, I hope you get pampered for rising early Saturday morning.!
Haul: Dose of Colors EyeScream palette and Purple Rain lipstick, three lipsticks from Necromancy Cosmetica (Deadly Nightshade, Life Is Peachy, Segunda Plaga), Darling Girl Unicorn Frappucino, and earlier this week I bought Smashbox Chill Zone.
Weekend Plans: My fiancé and I are going to Charleston, SC for a mini vacation on Monday so I’ll be packing and getting ready. No big plans other than that! Maybe I will film a few videos as well if I am feeling ambitious!
What have been your favorite TV shows lately?: Lately I’ve been watching The Handmaid’s Tale, RuPaul’s Drag Race, Project Runway All-Stars (re-runs on Hulu), and Say Yes To The Dress.
Haul: I picked up from colourpop, Topaz face palette (the bronzer abd highlight one!) And they had a flash sale, last Sunday, and had three extremely LE items. And I picked up the plummy/mauve blush they had! I also got birthday cake eye shadow for free along with it!
I also found out I’ll be getting a bonus in July, so I’m currently planning some new MUFE artist shadows! 😀
Weekend plans: SLEEP! I had my best friend from Quebec here for a week, and then I was Anime North last weekend. And Iv had 4 drs appointments this week! So iv been go go go the last two weeks. I need to catch up!
Favourite shows recently: the only tv show I watch is Law and Order SVU, and I’m really enjoying the newest season!
Hi Mellan!
Haul:
Guerlain Meteorites Voyage Exceptional Compact Pearls. Love and swoon. Such a lovely product. A few weeks ago a friend gifted me her 03 pearls, which I fell for hard. The compact has a bit more lavender, which I wanted, and I can take it traveling. Truth me told, I bought the compact refill and am using it in a Z palette, and it’s working just fine. The $179 price tag for the product in the Guerlain compact — not going there.
Two new lippies:
Dior Lacquer Stick in Rosewood
And another Givenchy Brun Createur — this has got to be at least my 6th tube of this shade! Just finished another one.
Living Proof No Frizz Styling cream. I like it in combo with the No Frizz oil to get my hair super smooth.
Weekend plans:
“It’s actually been a really rough week,” says Christine. Is it something in the water? Me too. Good thing I’m going on vacation soon as I want to bite everyone’s head off at work. There has been a lot of unnecessarily annoying-ness.
So, going to start packing for said vacation — we leave next Friday. Get ahead with some work projects, and keep it low key. Swims, the pups, lots of TV cuz I need to veg.
What have been your favorite TV shows lately? Oooh, two we finished — Broadchurch and Shetland. If you like smart, well done detective stories where the cinematography can sweep you away too, these are good choices. Both on Netflix.
We started The Same Sky on Netflix (Cold War Germany drama), and it’s shaping up. Got back into House of Cards, but as of episode 3, I’m not really feeling the acting or the story line. We’ll see how it progresses.
Dior Lacquer Sticks are just so good!
I love the lavender in the Meteorites too.
Hope this coming week flies by! I am taking vacation the same week you are for my daughter’s wedding. I had this week off too, trying to do a kitchen remodel before the big day.
Mellan looks SO content just lulling about on his very own little “hammock”! It really does make me think of air permeable hammock.
Haul: From Dermstore-Jouer Skinny Dip Eyeshadow palette, from UD- Quiver Afterglow Blush and Sheer Slowburn Revolution lipstick, MAC- Steve J & Yoni P collection Sugar Or Syrup Blush, Touch Me Baby e/s duo and Yoni Crush lipstick. Discovered that I just cannot do those crazy MAC vigils so easily anymore. Yesterday, I was TOAST from the night before (up till 3 a.m.) and up at 6:30 a.m to check whether it had gone live ( it had), ordered my 3 things I had wanted, but was so restless because of there having been a tech glitch at first that I went full panic attack and didn’t fall back asleep till after 8:30! Woke at 1:30 p.m., day wrecked. I’m getting too old for this!
Weekend plans: Catch up on food shopping and getting my lovable felines their food, hair, possibly nails, meeting on Sunday.
What have been your favorite TV shows lately: Hmm….well until this 62 inch monster decided to act up; American Crime Story (I believe that’s its name?) even though it made me cry and get quite upset and angry. Because these tragic events really are going on right under our noses.
My apologies, Christine. I wrote the above half asleep, scrolled all the way back up to your comment and then noticed that you have had a really rough week. Whatever it may be, please know that you’re in my own, plus many others on here thoughts and prayers. I truly hope that things get better on your end, and that whatever it is that’s giving you troubles resolves. ?
The one in which Lili Taylor has actually been abusing her Caribbean Nanny? And the pregnant girl who was tricking was murdered? And the migrant workers got burned up…and Benito Martinez went undercover to figure out what happened to his son? OMG. That series is always OMG. Love the idea of a core cast that plays different roles every year? LOVE Regina King.
Yup, KJH, that’s the one. Admittedly, the 62 inch flat screen TV a friend gave me went on the fritz after I had seen just 4 (maybe 5) episodes. So I had to go look up what happened to Shae (the sex trafficking victim who was pregnant). Very raw, but REAL show. This stuff is going on. On farms. In homes. On the streets. I really shouldn’t be watching shows that are SO disturbing, though, because it does get my hackles up against those who victimize people in such ways.
Christine, Hoping you get some rest and recovery.
Haul: I texted my Florida Tom Ford counter girl (she is my go-to for all things Tom Ford, ever since she found me a Nude Dip palette back when they were LE and sold out everywhere). I asked her if she could find me the original Tom Ford bluses in Love Lust and Flush, and she did it! Prior to calling her I spent a couple hours calling every Tom Ford counter in Illinois, with no luck. I should have just asked her in the first place.
Shows: We are currently watching The Americans (such a great show) and just started I Love Dick. I Love Dick is unlike anything I’ve ever seen before but it rings so true to the art-types I knew when I lived in California. The writing and acting are first rate, and I’m looking forward to seeing where this show goes. This type of show is clearly not for everyone: steer clear if you don’t like graphic sex, graphic language, and people who live unconventional life styles. The show has quite a bit to say about gender roles and sexuality. I love it that the muse is male–I can’t remember ever seeing a show with a male muse (and it’s Kevin Bacon).
I have both those blushes and rotate them regularly. Love ’em. Glad you got them!
Very sweet photo of Mellan. Sorry you had a rough week it’s good to just take time off and chill & do what you want! For me personally watching TV is relaxing.
Haul: I said I didn’t need it and wasn’t going to purchase it because I own T.F.’s bronzer & V.B. Bronzer BUT I purchased Marc Jacobs limited edition Bronzer & the limited edition bronzer brush which I definitely don’t need but it looks like it would be great for blending. The bronzer in the newest shade Tan tastic. Also, I added to my collection of Chanel Premiere Ombre eye shadows in cream 802 Undertone, & in powder shadows: 10 Flesh, 28 Sable, 38 Titane, & 34 Poudre D’Or.
Weekend plans: Grocery shopping is definitely first on the list.
TV shows: I think I have seen all of Law & Order SVU’s & the new season just ended. Also, If loving you is wrong by Tyler Perry but this seasons episodes just ended. I also watch the Crime Network a lot!
I forgot to add to Haul: Perfecting Cushion No. 23 Medium Beige by
Sulwhasoo I have read good reviews on this foundation & have wanted to try it for some time I hope it works and the shade is right. They don’t have many shades to pick from.
As Wendy mentioned, the sulwhasoo comments weren’t open. I would really like to understand the Asian color system and what the equivalents are. There’s an adorable sulwhasoo LE cushion with birds, but pretty sure it’s sold out by now. It’s reviewed on Snow White and the Asian Pear. But if we don’t know what color to get, how do we jump on these things?
I saw the limited edition with the birds I think it is just the case but I am not sure it is very pretty. I just went with what I am usually a medium beige but I can easily be deep beige which has yellow undertones. I never ordered it before because I didn’t know what shade to order but if it isn’t right I will try and return it. If you google it you will find a lot of reviews with swatches of all the different shades and that might help.
Haul: A week of firsts! Placed my first-ever Beautylish order to purchase my first-ever Jouer products: the Skinny Dip eye palette, Skinny Dip lip topper and the Pamplemousse long-wear lip crème.
Weekend plans: Doing “Doors Open” in my city with a friend. It’s a cool chance to see inside of buildings that aren’t normally open to the public!
TV shows: The Handmaid’s Tale has been blowing my mind a little…it’s AMAZING. We’re also working our way through the most recent season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
Hope you get the chance to decompress this weekend, Christine…self-care is important! 🙂
Lots of the exterior shots of The Handmaid’s Tale were shot around the corner from me and the exterior of the Commander’s house is around the corner and in many of the outside shots, I could see the house that belongs to an acquaintance. Many a morning, driving into work, I’d find the shooting still going on – lots of police, lots of women milling around dressed almost like “gleaners” – burlap coloured dresses and head scarves – and many extras dressed in the white bonnets and red cloaks like Offred wears. I watched bits of the first episode, just to see what made it into the program. What I found interesting is that the home owners of “the Commander’s” house got a fabulous 2 car garage/coach house out of it – I guess they needed it for the filming. It’s got a steel roof and the production company took care of all the by law issues and building permits (we live in an old area of town and almost all of the homes were built before the current by laws and building codes were in place so often, trying to do an addition or build an out-building or pool house, etc. is a difficult or impossible issue because of new regulations; those people got paid for the use of their home and got a seriously fabulous garage out of it too).
What an amazing coincidence! I am going to check out this show.
It’s based on a Margaret Atwood novel of the same name and was made into a film some 20 or more years ago with (I think) Natasha Richardson in the main role. I didn’t like that production and didn’t really watch the new one except to see the homes I know. It’s almost sacrilege to say it, since she’s a Canadian icon but I’m not a huge Atwood fan. I liked The Edible Woman, which I read as a teen but haven’t liked anything since.
Haul: Absolution Rejoice cream (lighter moisturiser than what I use now), Absolution Aura mask (HG hydrating mask… I needed a back up in my magic drawer ?). Viseart warm matte and chroma palettes. The obsession continues!
Weekend plans: find an outfit for the coming family reunion for my niece’s communion… Quite a struggle. Deep cleaning of the balcony to install a baby swimming pool for the little one! ?
What have been your favorite TV shows lately?: I watched “3%” recently. It has only one season so far but it is nicely done and different. Which I always find refreshing!
Hope you’ll find the rest and peace you need to refill your batteries. Sending you a lot of positive thoughts!
Viseart Warm Mattes!
Haul: Pixi Glow Lotion (I finally found an SDM that carries it near me); Sephora Girls Night Out eyeshadow, Peter Thomas Roth Rose Stem Cells facial cleanser and for my DD (at a Sephora “closed door event” – UD All Nighter Setting Spray and Sin UDPP – she needed replacements for both.
Weekend plans: the gym, Costco, inviting MIL over on Sunday to have dinner and watch The Victorian Slum House
Favourite TV shows: hubs and I both tend to like “rewatching” old favourites – so Corner Gas (a great Canadian comedy series about life in a small Saskatchewan town), Doc Martin, Schitt’s Creek (another Canadian comedy about life in a fly-blown Ontario town) and the above-mentioned Victorian Slum House
I need to get caught up on Doc Martin. I’m at least 2 seasons behind.
Iv ALWAYS, for YEARS eyed sephora girls night out! So pretty
Sephora is in the process of discontinuing so many of their really good shadows (and the liners too!) that I figured I’d better get it before it was gone. I am so glad I picked it up because I didn’t want to find all of a sudden that it was gone and that (if I was lucky) I would have to wait and hope that it turned up in their sale stuff. The savings are great but some stuff just vanishes entirely.
I love Schitt Creek!!
Daniel Levy (as David) is a scream…he has really eclipsed his father in terms of his comedic timing, genius and writing too. And Catherine O’Hara as the mom – honestly, the get-ups she wears, those creepy wigs hanging on the wall, her lipstick sliding all over her mouth….it’s so silly but we enjoy it so much and all that laughter can’t be anything but good for the soul.
David is my favorite! The expressions he makes and things he says kills me! I love him!
We like watching some old favourites too. Both of those you mentioned sound pretty funny.
Haul: Some Colourpop stuff that hasn’t arrived yet and the Huda Pink Sands 3D highlighting palette, which for the record is AMAZING, IMHO. I look forward to your review 🙂
Weekend plans: Visiting our new nephew, who is a week old and then spending time with a dear friend who lost someone very close to her earlier this week… life is precious, please go hug someone you love today!
Favourite show: Brooklyn 99 always makes me laugh.
I love Brooklyn Nine Nine!
I keep adding stuff to the Haul because I just received my order in the mail I ordered ages ago but it finally arrived Giorgio Armani Sunrise bronzing & highlighter for face. Mine is a little loose in the case but a few people that wrote reviews on this bronzer/ highlighter said theirs were loose also it doesn’t fall out but when you open and close it: it makes a sound like it”s loose.
I hope you have a relaxing and rejuvenating weekend and that next week goes smoother!
Haul: I got a little splurgey for my birthday. Marc Jacobs Tan-tastic Omega Bronzer Coconut Perfect Tan bronzer in Tan-tastic and Nars Liquid Blush in Orgasm (I was shocked to find both of these in store at my local Sephora), Kate Sommerville UncompliKated SPF 50 Soft Focus Makeup Setting Spray, and a travel size of the Supergoop SPF 50 Setting Mist. And my Storybook Cosmetics Witchcraft and Wizardry Palette finally arrived!
Weekend plans: Relaxing and take-out tonight, proctoring the SAT and seeing Wonder Woman tomorrow, going to see Kinky Boots with my family on Sunday.
Favorite TV shows lately? I have been watching Casual on Hulu and liking it, and tonight I’m starting The Handmaid’s Tale with very high hopes that it will be as great as my friends have hyped it up to be.
OMG enjoy Wonder Woman and Kinky Boots!
Thanks! I have high hopes for both!
That LE Tantastic is my favorite bronzer!
I am loving it so far! 🙂
Haul: I received a bunch of stuff I ordered last week: my Kate Spade handbag (love it!), my Lancome F&F sale order with the summer blush/bronzer, the gold liquid eyeshadow, and two new Juicy Shaker shades in black and white (not gonna lie, I didn’t buy them for how they would look on the lips, but because they looked really cool together!), and my no-slip yoga mat towel (hope it will help, I’ve had some mishaps during classes where I almost face planted because my hands get super sweaty and slip on the mat). I also ordered the Volupte Oil in Stick lipstick in Rose Rive Gauche and Glossy Stain Pop Water in Dewy Red from YSL (I looove the Pop Water version of the Glossy Stain for spring/summer).
Weekend plans: go to the laundromat because our washer and dryer have died due to flooding caused by a leak in the water heater. Yeah it’s as fun as it sounds… I’ll try to go for a long walk too, and possibly visit some friends on Sunday.
Favorite TV shows lately: still watching a lot of Midsomer Murders on Netflix – pretty good to empty your brain from all the stress and not anxiety inducing like some crime shows, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and that’s about all I’ve watched lately.
Hope you have a relaxing weekend and next week is not as rough for you Christine!
Oh no Lulle – will you be able to get a new washer and dryer from insurance? Otherwise it all sounds very expensive to me. Visiting a laundromat is not fun at all.
Haul: I just ordered a bunch of (aka too much) stuff:
from Amazon- I finally got over myself and ordered the Cetaphil Daily Hydrating Lotion with Hyaluronic Acid and it’s AMAZING and waaaay better than the high end stuff I was using, lightweight enough for summer, and it’s very good for uber sensitive skin so will be great given how the meds are messing with my skin sensitivity. I also saw it at Target the other day so have it close by me instead of online if I need
from Glossier- two of their Cloud Paints in Beam and Puff
from Sephora- Lancomé Matte Shaker in Beige Vintage and Laura Mercier Paint Wash Liquid Lip Colour in Orchid Pink (also out my birthday gift in the basket as it’s now June)
from NARS- the NARSissist L’Amour, Toujours L’Amour Eyeshadow Palette (been wanting it for a while and finally said f*ck it)
from Nordstrom- two of the new liquid blushes from NARS in Dolce Vita and Torrid (I kind of want the other two as well…)
so that’s my overkill for the month. I think I stress-ordered because of the whole Paris Treaty pullout.
Weekend plans: Nada for me. I hope you get some recovery time this weekend (with Mellan) Christine.
What have been your favorite TV shows lately?: Sense8 is my absolute favorite and was just cancelled yesterday (ON THE FIRST DAY OF PRIDE WTF?!?!) so that sucks. I’ve also been really liking the TV adaptation of American Gods as Neil Gaiman is one of my favorite authors (I met him and he signed my copy of American Gods and shook my hand!). I also really like The Expanse (also based off a book series) and highly recommend it for any sci-fi fans.
Happy Birthday Anne! Wow, what a great haul, glad you could treat yourself to some goodies!
Haul : not a single thing! Preoccupied with my misery of 12 days of no Well water (aaargh) and a root canal . I’m with Christine – happy to have this week behind me .
Weekend – Party here for 20 Sat. I’m a little burnt out on hosting things at our house . Sunday is Pentecost, Brunch and then off to a meeting at which of our U.S. Senators will speak . I’m very politically involved .
TV – The Leftovers, Better Call Saul. Started watching the new Season of House of Cards but having trouble getting in to it.
Have a great weekend, everyone !
Haul: jouer collection– I caved and got the eyeshadows ( so glad I did) the 2 highlighters and 3 lippies. Also Phyto Secret de Nuit and a free phyto hydration mask.
This weekend I’m doing yard work using my new chain saw on a tree that fell down and some mowing/ pulling weeds. Gonna swim, ride my bike and run! Can’t wait!
My fav show is How to get Away with Murder but I’ve been watching the Mindy Project and love it!
Kisses to sweet boy Mellan!
Sorry you’ve had a rough week. Definitely take some “me” time.
Haul: Just cotton pads and makeup wipes.
Weekend plans: Camping near Mt. St. Helen’s.
What have been your favorite TV shows lately? I’ve been catching up on the last couple seasons of Supernatural. I’m need to finish A Series of Unfortunate Events. Other than that, I haven’t been watching much.
You should get some Mt St Helen’s obsidianite. The color would be perfect for you.
Yes, the obsidianite is really pretty. I probably won’t get any this time, as I’m still out of work till the 15th. Next time, though, I might. We’re by Portland, OR, so Mt. St. Helen’s is only a few hours away.
A very pensive photo of Mellan. Sorry to hear you’ve had a rough week Christine. You do seriously need to take more than a few hours off. Take a good break.
Haul: Crabtree and Evelyn hand creams, on sale. They are beautiful.
Weekend plans: Nothing really special planned for this weekend. Domestic chores on Saturday and we’ll be having our grandchildren over on Sunday as their mum and dad are re-arranging the spare room in their house.
Favourite TV shows: I have been watching all the shows I have taped over the last few weeks and the bummer is when I forget to tape one of the episodes. I really like the BBC Crime shows, so I have purchased The Level and Broadchurch Series 3 to watch.
I should mention I got my order from JCPENNY Sephora. I had ordered the Viseart Posey Palette. Prior to the arrival I mentioned it on ig and Viseart said it was a scam and never released. When I got it, it was the Boehme palette so I returned the pix online showed a pastel palette.
Christine you work so hard you should take a day off to do nothing or something fun you like. Take Mellan swimming? Good luck relaxing and chilling girl!!
Christine I have to say I really enjoy your site sooo much especially reading everyone’s haul and weekend plans and what they like or don’t like. Thank you for having such a great site that is not only educational in the latest in beauty but also fun.
Haul: bad words, bec I tried to copy and paste from notes, and I can’t do it. CP: the $aucey and Zingara sets, dreamboat, and I owe you. S: Thessalonique, PV sinful, Surratt la rosee du soir, a couple of double sided Zs in Sephora stripes…they’re half off. Know I forgot s.t., but I threw away the packing slip. U: due to come tomorrow. But I might trot over to get brush cleaner and the mod ren I’m getting for points!
Plans: maybe a dog show tomorrow, but rain and outdoor shows don’t mix. The venue is dangerously close to a CCO. Then I have to go to night job. It’s so excellent to have either Fri or Sat off every week. Mess with my dogs, too.
TV: pretty much addicted to investigation discovery. Don’t even watch pbs, though I am a member….except on demand. Now I know where pbs series go…Netflix! Do watch some other things…mostly crime oriented or nature. River Monsters is ending…boo! Am
Thinking about doing Amazon ( Asian skincare!) and Titus Welliver as Harry Bosch on their video. Read all those Michael Connellys… also thinking of getting CuriosityStream. Lots of David Attenborough I haven’t seen, etc. I would watch lots of the things readers mentioned, but I have low end cable and zero subscriptions. Esp Handmaid’s Tale, though I haven’t read it.
Mellan looks like he’s chillin’! I’m so sorry to hear you had a rough week, Christine. Sometimes you have to turn the mind/world off, watch a bunch of shows and cuddle with a furry friend. Here’s hoping it leads to a better week next week!
Haul: Chanel: Precision Eye Definer in Prune Noire (so lovely!!), Longwear Eyebrow Gel, and Ombre Premiere cream shadows in Pourpre Profound and Silver Pink and a powder shadow in Talpa. The Ombre cream shadows are so drying on me that they irritated my eyelids despite primer and layered primers and having oily eyelids. Talpa has little pigmentation against my skintone (I bought it to layer over Silver Pink). Silver Pink and Talpa are going back. I’ll keep PP as its an interesting shade and to experiment with, and have Desert Rouge on order as my Chanel counter didn’t get it in. Chanel online told me the new formula is drier to make it longer wearing and pointed me to the Ombre powder eyeshadows and to the Illusion D’Ombres Velvet shadows (LE, 3 are online) and presumably the ones in the regular line. My local Chanel counter told me Chanel is keeping the top 4 best selling Illusion D’Ombres, including New Moor and Mirage. (P.S. Christine, I’m taking your advice and ordering a quad instead: Jardins Eclatants.)
Weekend plans: U2 concert (The Joshua Tree 30th anniversary tour)!! The forecast, though, is calling for rain and thunderstorms and the stadium has no roof. Yikes! We’re watching the forecast and hoping the thunderstorms stay away. Then, have to get the place in order before the in-laws arrive early next week to picture perfect weather!
What have been your favorite TV shows lately?: The Leftovers, The Unbreakable Kimmie Schmidt, Scandal, Madame Secretary, Young and The Restless (always). House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, and Master of None will be in the queue soon. Late Night with Stephen Colbert and Charlie Rose are late night favorites.
Update: Returning Chanel Pourpre Profond after major irritation in one eye last night and the need to soothe both. There’s something in this formula that causes a reaction. Hopefully, I’ll have no problem with the powder eyeshadows.
OH NO!! 🙁
I wonder if it’s the whole formula or a dye/pigment used?
Haul: it’s my anniversary at Ulta so I went nuts and bought Fiona Stiles’ Matte Finish Foundation in 08 and 09, her Soft Cheek Veil in Lex, Invisible Loose Setting Powder in Golden Honey, Full Cover Perfect Finish Concealer in 04, a MAC oldy but goody Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle, another Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray, several different Ardell lashes (their new faux minks are my favorite) and more moisturizer. I’m going back tomorrow to pick up a few more things…I’m a sucker for points man
Weekend plans: Working, hanging with the fam. Would say eating, but I’m on a weight loss journey so I just watch them indulge. No big deal though – I have an end goal in mind!
What have been your favorite TV shows lately?: I like Little Women of LA/Atlanta, The Flash, Beast Master; I haven’t had much time to watch TV, but I started watching Unbreakable on Netflix and omg it’s hilarious.
I’m sorry to hear about your week :(. I’ve had an awful week too – luckily it’s the weekend!
Happy Dog!

I’m researching stamping polishes and mats and hope to finalize an order soon. I like to keep my nails short and thought stamping might not look right but they’ve got some great designs and I’m excited to try them.
Weekend Plans: Leisurely cooking, light cleaning/tidying up, lunch at a winery. Washing brushes on Sunday and picking out a look for the week. I might go get a makeover with the new Fruity Juicy collection. The weather is gorgeous and I can’t decide if I want to leisurely lounge or be out and about.
What have been your favorite TV shows lately? So many! Fargo, Vikings, Black Sails and we’re eagerly awaiting Game of Thrones. We’ve watched the Iron Fist, Santa Clarita Diet, Archer, Black Mirror, Rectify, Bloodlines and are keeping an eye out for The Fall, Glitch, Jessica Jones, and a few others I can’t remember at the moment. Love all the super hero/mythical type stuff.
Haul: I finally paid the customs charges on my Colourpop haul (£16!) and it arrived. Staycation lippie stick set and Mile High Super Shock eyeshadow. Lovely but I’m going on a no/low-buy now! I also got a free full size sample of Soap & Glory’s Supercat Fat Eyeliner as I signed up to their e-newsletter.
Weekend plans: Taking it easy probably. My daughter started nursery this week and I’ve been taking her there and back, she will go 4 days a week for 4 hours each day and I’ve been picking her up an hour earlier than the time stipulated because it’s her first week and the teacher said it was best if I picked her up early. She’s got a cold now and was a bit unwell today so we’ll see how she is over the weekend. She’s only 3 but at home I have to watch her all the time or she tries to push the boundaries constantly which is hard work! I’ve been able to catch up on the housework this week which is well overdue, it’s nigh on impossible to do chores when she’s awake or she makes sure she does something to get my attention (like make a mess!). It’s never-ending lol.
What’s your favourite tv show? We haven’t been watching tv, my way of switching off is to look at Facebook or beauty blogs. The tv aerial in our rented flat is too flukey to be any good so we only watch the occasional film or tv prog on Netflix. I really want to see the new series of Twin Peaks.
Haul: Glossier Cloud Paints and their new sunscreen, and the Jouer Skinny Dip palette (I have Christine to thank for that lol)
Weekend plans: Work, pack to go leave for Chicago on Tuesday
Favorite TV show lately: Star Wars: The Clone Wars, pretty cheesy but still really well done. As a Star Wars nerd it’s so cool to see the expanded universe. They’re taking it off of Netflix on Wednesday though 🙁
Yes, I blame Christine too for the Jouer Skinny Dip palette! Oh is that the Glossier Invisible Shield SPF 35? Curious about it –do you like it?
I’m still finishing up the tube of sunscreen I have right now, but I’ll let y’all know! 🙂
Hope you’re getting to relax with Mellan!
Haul: NOTHING. I’m so proud! Though I must say, I was REALLY tempted to pick up a NARS foundation (Sheer Glow or the Luminous one) at London’s Heathrow airport, as it came to about $34 USD from the duty-free store. While the foundations impressed me, I have many to use up that I also like. Still…if any of you have experience with NARS foundations, please let me know what you think of them! I have combination oily skin. In the meantime, I’ll use what I have!
Weekend plans: Back in The Netherlands, and going to a music today!
Favorite TV show lately: GAME OF THRONES is coming back very soon!!! 🙂 Other than that….Orioles baseball, does that count? 🙂 Though they just had a rough patch last month.
*music festival, that is!
Mellan relaxing, so cute.
Take care of yourself Christine. Take a lot of time to relax. I do hope next week will be a lot better.
Haul, I know I shouldn’t have, but it sort of just happened! 🙂 I went to Sephora to get my birthday gift and my “spend X amount of money get a gift”. I wasn’t going to buy anything but went away with Kat von D Shade and Light palette and Alchemist holographic Palette. I also got the smallest sample of her Lock It foundation in an almost OK match, but I swear some of the sales persons seem to think they are pouring samples of their own products. It seems quite good, but it doesn’t stop the oiliness coming through.
I also bought Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil in 3. It’s a bit light but I thought it would be good as I have a darker one and I think two colours might help making my sparse brows look natural (at a distance).
I bought a soap and som cotton pads and the woman at the cash register had lovely red lashes, she had bought the mascara from MAC, so to MAC I went, of course they were all out of red mascara but I got som other stuff,
MAC, Goldfinch lipglass, pigment in bluse Brown and two mascaras, Zoo Lash in Plum Reserve and Opulash in Flighty
NYX, two lipglosses in Tuesday Night Disco and Do the Hustle, Cosmic Metals Lip Cream in galactic, Butter Lipstick in Hunk, Roll on Shimmer in Olive that one was on sale, Illuminating Stick in Lavender Lust and Duochromatic Illuminating Powder in Twilight tint
From LASplash Studioshine Lip Lustre in Amor Eterno, Eternal Love and Smitten Liptint Mousse in Hermione, Chrystallized Glitter in Bloody Mary
And
From Lime Crime, and I swear I had no idea of their past antics, I read about it in Doe Deere Lies on line after I bought. or rather had ordered a lipstick in Third Eye
from Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief, Pep-start Eye Cream and Fresh Pressed Daily Booster with pure vitamin C 10%
i also bought a nailpolish remover, some clothes (two tops) two handbags (purses) one small in brown leather and one from Lauren Ralph Lauren (on sale, much reduced) in a lovely summery coral pink.
Oh, I also got the last of the The Ordinary foundations, now I have all four I wanted to try, two formulas, two colours.
I have a few orders coming in, hopefully next week, among them Jouer Skinnydip eyeshadow palette, Yay!
Weekend, not doing much, getting some things for the dogs. I really should do some cleaning around the falt, but it feels so boring 🙂
Favourite TV shows, I just finished watching The Good Wife, started rewatching Supernatural, season two of Broadchurch so I don’t feel confused beginning season three, I really like Broadchursh so much, the landscape, the actors, the acting. We got HBO so we can watch Twin Peaks, (it’s on HBO here) so I’ll have a GoT marathon and I started watching Big Little Lies (it could be Little Big Lies) with Reese Witherspoon, not sure what I think yet. Other than that I keep watcing Criminal Minds, NCIS, NCIS New Orleans and Boones.
I got some good ideas from you all for other shows to watch.
So sorry for this long post, little to say, but I used a lot of words to say it 🙂
It should be MAC Pigments in Blue Brown and Zoom Lash.
I am so sorry for my sloppy typing. I really do know how to write, even though one might think not.
Again, sorry!
Happy Birthday Helene!! Wow, what great hauls -very dangerous to be near any stores on birthdays 😉
Thank you!
I actually stayed away, far away around my birthday. Last year I came too late, and didn’t get anything, bad service, they could have taken any sample. This year I went there within three months from my b-day. I got a sheet mask and an eye mask, I hope theye’ll be good.
I really like the Kat von D eyeshadows, I wasn’t going to get them, but no matter how many matte palettes I had I seemed to lack one shadow, having to buy singles or use two palettes, well, sometimes three. With this one, Shade and Light I actually need only one matte palette. The Alchemy one is loads of fun, as I’m sure you know, Katherine.
The NYX stuff is so much fun, inexpensive but good quality.
I’m having fun, playing.
Haul:
Maybelline Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter and their new angled eyeshadow brush
Weekends: birthday party for my niece. She’s 5…woot woot!
Favorite TV Shows: TBH I don’t keep up with most new shows and I don’t have Netflix or Hulu. I watch reruns of Big Bang Theory, Golden Girls and Roseanne lol. Then I love travel food shows like Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown or Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern
Haul: MUFE Artist shadows in Metallic Navy, Onyx, and Acidic Green, Briogeo Rosarco Milk, and UD double-ended eyeliner in Naked.
Weekend plans: Saturday was a rough day, so today I plan on reading Temptalia, watching makeup videos on Youtube, and playing Witcher 3.
What have been your favorite TV shows lately? I’ve been re-watching Friends on Netflix…it’s just very relaxing to watch.
