I really like the beauty sponge from Forever 21. When you wet it, it expands!
I’m loving the dark green and lime green EcoTools sponge duo available in the drugstore and Ulta. It leaves a flawless finish. I haven’t gone back to my brushes.
I wanted to try those too! I love the EcoTools brushes! Right now I love my real techniques orange sponge. I do have the beauty blender but the real techniques is my favorite.
I love the Real Techniques sponge too! I would say that the texture of the RT sponge and Eco Tools large green sponge is very similar, but the ET sponge is cut in a unique way that I really enjoy. It’s really affordable. You should try it!
I used the beautyblender loyally for years until I decided to pick up Real Techniques Bold Metals sponge. You know, the diamond shaped one? I was interested in it purely due to the price point, but once I tried it it blew my mind. I like it a lot more than the beautyblender, and I find because it’s less porous that my foundation applies more smoothly.
I still love the original beautyblender, but I think the RT diamond sponge is about to overtake it as my favorite.

The orange Real Techniques sponge.
I really like the Real Techniques sponges, but I haven’t tried the Beauty Blender…the price tag scares me ?
I really enjoy the pink L’Oreal sponge! I think it performs similarly to the beauty blender and is only around $7 I believe.
Eselin Beauty Sponge. Looks and works like a Beauty Blender, but is only 2 €
I have an original beautyblender and I have similar sponges from both Avon and Quo (Shoppers Drug Mart house brand) and quite honestly, those 2 cheaper sponges are close enough in performance to the original that, when you factor in the price difference, I’d say they’re every bit as good. But best of all, I like the Real Techniques sponge. I understand that the quality of those sponges has taken a nose-dive and I’ve noticed that at least here in Canada those packaged in 2’s seem to have a different colour and texture than the single ones I got in the US.
I agree about the quality in the two pack. My sponges are nearly falling apart, the Beauty Blender I have is still in great shape (I got them at the same time to compare and I have been washing them the same way — with the BB soap). I don’t think I would buy the RT ones again.
To be honest I’ve only ever used one because I never felt the need to try something else: the Real Technique sponge. It works well both wet and dry, it’s sturdy enough that I can keep it for quite a while, the flat side is great for large surfaces on the face (forehead, lower cheeks), and the pointy side is sharp enough to fit into smaller spaces like the eye corner.

I think I should try a blender sponge from Eco tools or Real Techniques!
Used the Real Techniques sponge for several years and thought it was great then tried my first Beauty Blender and there is no comparison for me. The BB is better, IMO.
Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge.
My favorite is the black one from Beauty Junkee.
It has the shape of a Real Techniques and the texture/consistency of the Beauty Blender.
I only have one, which I got as part of a set with brushes, but I pick it to use over the few Beauty Blenders, Real Techniques and other beauty sponges I have. As the other sponges in my stash get tossed I will be replacing with the Beauty Junkee.
I’ve tried so many and I always go back to my Beauty Blender. Even, smooth coverage and is less work than some of the cheaper sponges. I will never stray again.
I have only two sponge, the original Beauty Blender and the orange Real Techniques sponge. I really love both of them.
I’ve tried so many others but nothing compares to the beauty blender and I’m partial to the pro (black). The last two I’ve had have lasted nine months each (some tears along the way but they still work just fine) so the price is not an issue to me. You just have to take care of them… I wash mine after every use with antibacterial liquid soap, squeeze it in a towel, and dry it in the open air. Be kind to it especially if you have nails. Every other sponge I have tried either sucks up tons of product, leaves lines and streaks, or is really dense and stiff. Life is too short to use a crappy sponge…especially since I use it for 99% of the cream and liquid products that go on my face. (the one exception is my it cosmetics bye bye redness just due to the packaging mostly.. but I still blend it with my BB.)
I’ve never tried beautyblender and have no intention of doing so, because Real Techniques’ sponges work great for less than half the price.
Real Techniques’ orange sponge. Why in the world would throw money away on a BeautyBlender that I’d have to replace every month or two, when RT does the same job for less than half the price?
Hey girls — I love both the beauty blender and the RT – but I wanted to let you all know that there’s a soap that is like .97 centts @ walmart – called Zote that is wonderful for beauty sponges. It cleans throughly – and I clean my palette with it too – comes completely clean. It’s smells really clean too. I was having problems getting them clean – I don’t know what the deal was I use Milani’s Conceal and Perfect foundation – and Mac’s concealer?? But I had a difficult time even with that costly BB cleanser. Not only that but my sponges were breaking down so quickly – it was getting expensive!!
It’s a huge bar too. I think you all will really like it. I love mine, will never go back to that costly stuff. I don’t even like the Mac brush cleanser compared to it. It’s just so good. I think it’s real gentle as well. Maybe it will help someone!!!
I love the Beauty Blender; it lasted over 9 months and probably could have lasted a year (but I cut it open because I was worried about mold…there was none!). The Real Techniques one is good, but it only lasted barely 3 months before growing mold.
I now have a purple one from Quo (in Canada, this is available from Shopper’s Drug Mart), and it has been doing wonderfully. It’s a good dupe for the BB. If it lasts as long, then I might repurchase the Quo one. If not, I’m going back the BB.
I have the original Beauty Blender and the orange Real Techniques sponge. Although the Beauty Blender has a bit of a better texture, I prefer the shape of the Real Techniques sponge…and it’s only 1/4 of the price of a Beauty Blender, so I wind up replacing them more often.
