Love some beachy colors, but hate that lately all the collections seem to want to make everyone shine like a glazed doughnut.
I love summer collections for their bright hues and bronzy collections. I dislike how early some summer collections are launched, well before the weather is warm.
I love the bronzes and golds every year again, so for me there is actually no downside at all. Yes, the colors are repetitive, but I don´t care.
I am okay with summer collections but since I am so pale a lot of the summer releases just don’t do anything for me. I tend to look better in jewel tones available in fall and winter. I have been trying to find a peach colored lipstick that is opaque, not too pale, doesn’t migrate into my lip lines and that I like which you would think would not be that hard but so far, nothing is appealing. I usually think of summer as the season that gets me to fall!!
Rave: the brights. Rant: coral and pinks, subjectively. They only work on the comparatively small eye area. Love them on others. Usually, it’s a money saved season.
I love bronzed looks and corals, so usually I’m really into summer collections. This year with the multiple releases all year long that most brands have embraced, I’m rather confused as to what is a summer collection and what isn’t… Some of the identifiable ones were released in the winter which I find annoying!
I get sick of bronze bronze bronze. The items that aren’t bronze are usually always good though. I also like how people have been putting out orange and coral colors in the last few years that are more cool tone friendly.
Rave: bronze-y, gold, coral, light warm tones suit me. I like the lighter-to-neutral sparkly glosses more prevalent in summer. It’s more acceptable to wear less make up in hot weather.
Rant: nothing specific. I know by August I know I’ll be craving deeper colors, more visual texture.
I dislike how a lot of brands come out with the same damn thing every year, and I dislike how many collections there are (same goes for collections in general, as we have a veritable deluge of them these days) but I like the focus on more natural looks with sheerer formulas. The more bronze-y and metallic stuff is pretty dupe-able year-round though.
Since I wear less makeup during this period (except eyeshadow and lipstick), I tend to buy less.
I also love the gold and bronze themes but one can get so many of them ?.
I feel more comfortable using brighter colours!
It is getting hard to identify collections as the brands are just flooding us with products. I’ve rather checked brands releasing relevant products for the season (mufe with their new aqua paint), or which cater small collections (Chanel)
I definitely go on a much lower buy through spring and summer. The Fall and Winter collections are typically a bigger part of my game and that speaks to the colour choices I don’t have those beautiful medium skintones and darker that look so amazing in bronzey goldy shimmery beachy looks. Nor do I have a light enough or cool enough complexion to really rock out pastels. I’m just a tempermental NC20 ish light olive finicky skinned individual who can, fortunately, do a bright lip very very well so that tends to be my spring/summer anchor.
I love the bronzy shades and bright colors! Sometimes we just need a pop of color!
Rave: Bright lip colors — red, corals, fuchsias — I love them all. Coral blushes are my favorites, so summer is great for those, as well.
Rant: Eyeshadow collections often feel the same: Mostly neutrals, a shimmery gold, a shimmery bronze, and a pop of blue. Bronzers are always too dark and warm. Dewy, glowy, bronzed skin doesn’t work on me.
