Unless I’m going to be outside for a prolonged period of time,
the weather really doesn’t impact what I wear (or don’t wear). If it’s really hot outside, then I’ll wear minimal makeup or no makeup so I can reapply sunscreen!

Unless it’s hot, or worse yet, hot and humid, it doesn’t really matter. But once we start hitting 105° and up, I begin to simplify a bit more often, ie; BB/ CC cream with SPF usually replaces regular foundation so that my skin can breathe. Additionally, once it gets humid or anytime I know that there’s a possibility of rain, I don waterproof mascara religiously!
I wear lighter bases and maybe more cream products when it is hot.
If it’s hot/extremely cold I’ll wear less but otherwise it doesn’t really change. I will usually wear less eye makeup in the summer as well.
Basically only my foundation changes. If it’s humid out I will bring out the big guns – Make Up For Ever’s Matte Velvet+. It’s usually on par with the change in color as well. Otherwise, I don’t change anything else.
Ugh!! Makeup and weather when you live in one of the rainiest cities in the nation (Mobile, AL) just don’t mix well! Not to mention, the H-E-A-T!! For me, foundation doesn’t much happen from May-September (unless it’s a special occasion or a not-so-muggy night). BB creams w/SPF are the go-to! They are also a blessing since they combine so many products into one and don’t leave me with a greasy, heavy feel in our hideous, horrendous, heinous humidity (did I use enough “h” words there?) I used to use powder foundations more, but with age, has come dryness. BB creams have become my new “Best Buddies”!
The only thing that I change is my foundation. I generally tend to go with a lighter more matte finish in the summer because while I like to look slightly luminous I don’t want to look like a grease ball.
Very much so!! I wear bb cream or tinted moisturizer, cream blush and cream eyeshadow. Bobbi browns eyeliner gel is bomb proof mountain biking at 97F for 3-4 hrs.
Or if I’m riding or running by my self it’s nothing.
I wear more metallic highlighters on cloudy days–along with shimmery bronzers and blushes. Typically these: Wet n Wild Ticket to Brazil bronzer, MAC Sweet Vision blush, Wet n Wild Precious Petals highlighter.
So along that train of thought, I wear more satin cheek products on super sunny days, think: Physicians Formula Bronzer Booster bronzer, Almay Coral blush, Essence Be My Highlight highlighter.
Winter skin = dry skin so I wear more hydrating foundations (e.g., Neutrogena Healthy Skin liquid foundation)
Summer skin = oily skin so I wear more matte/powder bases (e.g., TruthGirl mineral foundation, CoverGirl Clean Matte BB Cream).
Humidity: BB cream and powder, less eye makeup
Dry winter days: bourjois healthy mix foundation with powder
Summer sunny days: minimal makeup, reapply sunscreen.
When the hot and humid weather typical of S. Ontario summers hits, I wear much less, opt for lighter feeling powder products, make sure I’m wearing a high level of SPF (I wear it all year ’round but really increase the level in summer) and also make sure, if I’m wearing makeup, that I’m also wearing really reliable primers (face and eye). In the cooler weather, I still wear sun protection but it’s much more comfortable to wear whatever I want in terms of makeup, unless it’s blizzarding or bucketing down rain.
winter/fall: liquid foundation when my skin is drier, in humid weather in summer use a long-wear foundation /or nothing depending on the occasion. springtime-usually my halo hydrating powder foundation from smashbox:)
I wear less in the summer. I’m also more likely to use a multi use product in the summer like a Multiple or something. I also tend to wear heavier makeup in the fall and holiday times, more sparkle and more drama. I also tend to shift to coral or hot pink in the summer and save berries and reds for fall.
I use more matte products and lighter products as the temperature goes up. For foundation I stick to powders or light bb creme with spf and a powder mix. I use waterproof products so that nothing moves. I will also use a lighter hand in my application of eye or lip products.
It really depends!!
I live in cold, cold, Canada. And we usually have snow from October to April. So most of the year my makeup is made to be snow proof!
When it’s “hot” here, I keep a setting spray/spray sunblock with me, and I’ll spray it on my face and chest throughout the day. And I carry a small flat round sponge with me in my purse, so I use that to blot off sweat from my forehead and upper lip! (the life of a sweaty gal!)
I generally find I go for a much lighter look in the hot months, simply because that’s all I can handle as I positively wilt in hot weather. I also go more for cream products (like the Hourglass Illume trio) and more tinted moisturizers than full-on foundations. I do find I reach for more corals and raspberries for my lips and cheeks in the hotter/sunnier months and more plums and dark wine colors in the colder/darker months, but that’s also a reflection of what clothes I have for that type of weather and what shades they work well with.
The weather doesn’t really have a huge impact on my makeup – except I have a stronger layer of sunscreen under my foundation.
I do find that I wear different shades of lipstick in summer – more peachy/coral and for autumn/winter I use more cinnamon/berry shades.
It only changes during the hottest part of summer. I’m in the Portland, Oregon area, so usually that’s just August.
I have oily skin on top of the sweating, so I wear a higher SPF sunscreen (Neutragena’s face stuff, so it absorbs and isn’t sticky), Too Faced Hangover Rx face primer, and loose powder foundation and mineral veil (under and over my foundation). Then it’s just powder blush, Too Faced Shadow Insurance, a “one and done” nude shimmery powder eyeshadow, mascara (black or colored), setting spray, and either a tinted lip balm or a liquid lipstick (If I’ll be out and about; I don’t want to worry about lip products melting in my purse). I skip contour, highlighter, eyeliner, lipliner, brow products, etc. That all will just melt on my face and look awful.
With my skin, in the Winter I go a little more matte. But for Summer, I like a lighter foundation but still want coverage. Covergirl Vitalist Healthy Elixir Foundation, just recently released is checking all my boxes for a summer foundation. Coverage that feels light on my skin with a little luminosity.
With colors, in the Winter, I’m all about the Drama! Dark eyes and lips. Spring and Summer I suddenly want from light to vibrant colors on my lips and eyes. Pastels just go with Spring and by the Summer I’m into purple, blue, orange, etc.. Also love romantic looks. Low key bridal and prom looks.
I like to change everything for lighter. Love using a ‘does’ it all such as Loreal BB cream or light tint foundations getting older I’m shying away from full cover foundations and going much lighter also beginning to use cream blush find a bit more tricky to use but with a very natural result than powder ones. I like both. I have decent clear skin so that’ll be great. Just enough to even out some sun spots/redness. I like to change my colors to peach and corals actually loves the shades and pinks. In winter more into berries and soft to medium eyeshadows. I live in S. California near Mar Vista/Venice beach I love our cooler nice weather not looking forward to hot Summers they make me feel tired and lazy. Worst for a run also!! Yuck! Just uncomfortable over all.
Looking for recommendations on BB creams and tinted liquid foundations to try.
I live in India so the hot & humid Summer/Monsoon does require a change in my makeup. Being closer to the equator I need 50 spf EVERY DAY. In the Summer/Monsoon I wear EL’s Double Wear Light layered over La Roche-Posay Anthelios 50 Daily Anti-Aging Primer and set with Essence’s Mattifying powder. The EL Double Wear foundations are the only ones I’ve found that can withstand the MISERABLY intense heat & humidity here. My skin is dry everywhere but my nose. On super hot & humid days I actually put matt powder on my nose over the primer then foundation over that and THEN set everything wish a light dusting of matt powder. Putting primer & powder under ELDWL actually looks decent & keeps my nose from going ‘dotty’ in 4 hrs.
Fall/Winter’s here are mild but very very dry. So I switch to IT Cosmetic’s Bye Bye foundation for daily wear. The ICBB foundation is quite moisturizing, has 50 spf, and does not require a primer.
For special occasions I always use my CdP Silky foundation though!
The weather impacts in the colors i chose only
Depends on what I’m doing. When it gets really hot and sticky, if I’m not going to be in A/C, I rely on my tan and a great pair of shades to carry me, and often just use lipstick or gloss. Not much matte in the summer. I’m more careful about what I put on my lower lids in the summer too, because that area tends to smear more.
