NARS Summer 2011: Ecume Nail Lacquer

NARS Ecume Nail Lacquer ($17.00 for 0.5 fl. oz.) is described as an “opaque white.” The description is dead-on–this is a pure snow white polish that’s opaque in three coats. It’s streaky with just one, and to even it all out, I felt a full three were needed. It dries to a semi-glossy finish, though the swatches are with a top coat (Zoya Armor). I typically get a week of wear with NARS’ polish, and despite NARS’ formula being on the thicker side, this one seemed normal and not thick at all.

I find it funny that in the USA (and probably other countries too) white nail polish is a normal wearable color. Here in Brazil, we normally use it for the white tips of french manicures. There`s pretty much no other use for this color of nailpolish. I particularly don`t like it. When I want a whithe kind of color I use something that is between clear and white.

Good to know China Glaze White Out is a good dupe.. I already have that color so I know I’m not missing out! NARS does great polish in terms of wear and longevity, but it’s the unique colors I like.

Yes they did! The one I’m thinking of is Vestral White. Ecume is interesting but I doubt I’ll get it. I have OPI Alpine Snow if I’m ever in a HOLY THAT’S WHITE mood.

Thats what I thought. I am not buying it, I was just wondering. I dont like the look of white all over the nails. I think its meant for a french to have on the tips. I did buy the MAC one a few years ago b/c it was in style… but I think I wore it 2 times. What a waste of money (my bad… haha).

Now this is a great nailcolor. It’s clean, neutral, screams “SUMMER” and how gorgeous would this be against medium to dark skin or a bronze goddess faux tan? Awesome!
