Rescue Beauty Lounge Iconoclast Nail Lacquer

Rescue Beauty Lounge Iconoclast Nail Lacquer ($18.00 for 0.4 fl. oz.) is a new and limited shade from the Iconic/Ironic Collection. It’s described as “a richly pigmented ebony with layers of fine glitter, giving it depth and a metallic, mica-like finish.” Iconoclast is an inky black with moments of purple and blue, depending on just how the light hits the lacquer and the strength of the light. In natural light, you can clearly see the micro-shimmer but the iridescence and play of color doesn’t really come through until you’re in the sunlight–then the multi-colored shimmers reflect and shine.

my thoughts on the formula: These are richly pigmented lacquers that have nuances in both the color and finishes. Each color is well-thought out, and I’ve yet to come across a poor performer in the brand’s color range. I used two coats for opaque coverage.

I don’t think she’s going to have another one, sadly. Better snap it up before it sells out – which would happen before the sale anyway.

sonia kashuk’s ‘starry night’ nail polish (i have it on right now) looks pretty close to this. it doesn’t have rainbow glitters for the color to change but it has really small glitters in silver that are hard to pick up on once on the nail. they look pretty similiar. possible dupe?

Wth I accidentally pressed submit before finishing my comment Lol! I was going to say that I wanted to get starry night but for some reason, passed on it. I love the look of Iconoclast but don’t feel like spending $18. So, im going to go back and get starry night! 🙂

That is a gorgeous black! I’m so used to flat black creams, so something like this is so unique to me. Dark, vampy colors allllways sing to me!

I bought this polish and am kind of disappointed by it. I only see that shimmer in the most direct of sunlight and if I use any top coat there is zero shimmer. Inside, where I am most of the time, it looks like a generic black.

i really have to agree with this comment. i refrained from purchasing this polish because a lot of time, RBL polishes claim to have shimmer or microglitter, but the only time ive ever found it to be really apparent in the ones i own are in scrangie, anne and catherine (purple) of the tudors collection. i also have noticed in a couple other black polishes i own with shimmer in them (sephora never enough shoes, zoya raven, etc), that the shimmer is never apparent inside and from a distance always look straight black. i decided not to pay $18 for a plain old black, even if RBL wants to call it a “microshimmer”.

I agree! In the past I’ve tended to base my nail polish purchases on the swatches from All Lacquered Up but I find Temptalia’s swatches truer to life.

Wouldn’t have affected my purchasing decisions but I was expecting the shimmer to be more prominent based on the ALU swatches…
