I think they’re really nice, but only when they have a sort of, gel like consistency,I think that the ones that are sort of like benefit’s benetint are hard to work with, if you don’t blend quick enough it looks like just stripes.
I love this feature every week, but I do wish you’d put your opinion on too! x
I’ve only tried Benetint-type cheek stains. I agree that they are definitely find them hard to work with since they tend to dry faster than I can blend.
I have yet to try gel-like consistency ones, but, purely based on assumption, they seem like they would blend better and be less drying.
Don’t love them since I already have a lot of reddness in my cheeks to begin with when I do use a blush it’s over top a full coverage foundation anyway.
same here 🙂
We’re learning to love each other. I like to use them mostly when I’m on vacation in warm weather, for a hint of pretty & natural and not “made up.” My favorite stains are made by Tarte! Amazing products that wear fantastically.
I love cheek stains because they look so natural. However, I don’t like that they tend to look a lot darker when you first apply them and then have faded more within a few minutes. It can be hard to judge how much to apply.
I have Benefit Benetint and another cheeksatin from an unknown brand. I think they apply a bit blotchy. The problem with these is also that you need to rub them to blend them in which often causes you to lose some of your foundation.
^^^I’ve found the solution to that: apply the stain FIRST. That way not only do you not risk having it ruin your foundation but it also makes you look like you have a nice *glow*
I really really really want to try a cheek stain underneath my blush to keep it on longer because my mac blushes always fade, I cant seem to find one that is affordable though but I’m still looking!
Do you have Hard Candy ones in your local drugstore? I have heard great things about them. They have two different shades in each stick and they are only $6!
Almay(drugstore)makes a gel in a tube that conforms to your skintone(just like Smashbox’ O Glow, only much cheaper).
I like tarte’s stains, but they’re so expensive!
I have dry skin on my cheeks (from old acne) and cheek stains only accentuate the dry patches… 🙁
I love the look of cheekstains, but I feel like they only work on people who have good skin! They tend to rub off the foundation on the cheeks when applied, and I have pimples/scars on my right cheek, so it can look odd.
I am just going down memory lane here and wishing that Clinique would bring back Color Rub. They used to have this in blush worthy tones back in the 80s and I loved it. Easy, creamy and looked so real. The true stains are beyond my ability to work with. And the stained fingers after are a major pain.
I had the same issue with lip stains! Pink finger tips all day, definitely not my idea of a good result.
I wasn’t sure what to think of them at first, but I really like Tarte’s cheek stains. I’ll wear that, a little concealer under my eyes and mascara just for school. I look alive but it only takes about 2 minutes for makeup in the morning. 🙂
I have been wanting to try them. I have combination skin so my cheeks are dry in the winter. I am a huge fan of cream blush so I’ve always been curious about stains but I have yet to try any.
I don’t <3 stained fingers. MUFE HD looks way more natural (on my anyway) and #8 really imitates a natural flush perfectly for lt-med (11 on med-dark)
I love Pixi Cheek Gels. They are by far the best I have ever tried. Work great on bare skin or over tinted moisturizer, stay all day on my oily skin, and all of them look so natural. Natural is actually my favorite color : )
I use them only on summer, when all that hit makes me sweat and ruins my makeup, cheek stains comes to rescue me.
Mecca beach tints are gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous! They blend like a dream, look so natural and stay on. Perfect summer makeup
Yes I’m an old lady that posts here but I can’t help it I still have an undying lust for makeup. I remember using the Bonnie Bell stain way back when (70’s? early 80’s?) and it just wouldn’t work for me. It was such a horrifying experience that I haven’t tried another. But reading the answers above me I can see many have had the same probs I had with stain. I’ll have to stick to cream or powder!
I can never get cheek stains to blend in well, so I end up with circles on my cheeks. They also don’t last as long as powder blush on me. Not a fan!
tarte’s cheekstains are amazing! I like dollface because it’s pink and smells nice 🙂
I don’t care for them, I prefer using a cream blush (I like ones from Nars and Mac) and layering it with a powder blush for longevity. I think stains like Benetint dry too fast and are difficult to blend. Also, I don’t like the consistency of Tarte, they are easier to blend but they never seem to dry and then it mixes with foundation or looks cakey with powder over it. I have oily skin so I always have to powder.
I’d like to try benefit’s benetint!
My favorite? Benefit Posietint & Benetint!!! Love, love, love!
I also like Stila Convertible Color (Orchid) & Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge (Calypso Coral). I have Stila Pomegranate Crush & Mango Crush, I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it either. I wish they can stay on a little bit longer like their Convertible Color though.
The least favorite would be The Body Shop Lip & Cheek Stain. Oh gosh, this stuff fade in seconds on my cheeks!
I haven’t tried Tarte, in fact I haven’t tried anything from this brand, maybe next time I’ll give it a shot 🙂
I love cheek stains! Any makeup that lasts ALL day is good with me!
I love benefit and the body shop tint! I just rub one of them on my freshly cleansed and moisturized cheeks, then i put my mineral powder foundation over so the color just peeks through and it looks perfect! 🙂 + The stain stays on much longer than regular blush 🙂 But I think using them every single day can be a bit drying for the skin.
I love cheek stains. I’m actually wearing one right now! On my oily skin they are the only thing that last all day on me. Regualr blush is nice but I have to retouch it at least 4 times a day.
I’m an old school cheek stain gal who began using them in the 70’s. I LOVE a blush that lasts all day, serves as a base for additional bronzer or blush/highlighter, and for making a too-warm or too-cool blush shade work (by laying down a thin base of gel blush in a shade to counter the warm or cool shade, ie. pink gel then the too-warm shade/a peach shade to make a too-cool blush shade work). I apply gel blush first, then mineral makeup, then additional bronzer or blush in a powder or mineral form. I’ve tried them all and the BEST gel is still Bonne Bell’s original gel blush, available on their website for only $4.50 each. They smooth on differently than any other and feel differently on your fingertips; this is the best there is. I highly recommend the Peach shade for spring. My remedy for removing fingertip stains: Use toothpaste. No gels, but a white basic toothpaste formula. It’s worth it to keep a cheap tube on hand just for this purpose.
Oh and: Dampen your fingertips with water – just slightly – before blending. This blends them beautifully.
becca’s beach tints would be my absolute fave – and they work very well on lips as well. the color range is expanding and well, i guess that means i’ve got to get more!
Cheek stains are my favorite type of blush! I’m a huge fan of Beaute liqui-gel lip & cheek stains (I’ve got the bright fresh pink and the deep flushed red), they take longer to dry than your average stain (more blend time!) and last ages. Stains look so natural and last for ages!
My favorite have to be the NARS tints that they released last summer. I find them to dry down better that tart cheek stains and the scary orange one (Turks and caicos?) to look absolutely amazing and natural in the summer.
I love benetint, but the tarte cheekstains are too sticky and hard to blend in my opinion! Powders are more convenient unless I’m traveling, in which case I’ll take my trusty travel-sized benetint with me!
I’m new to cheek stains, so can’t speak on other brands, but I just picked up Urban Decay afterglow in Crush on the weekend & I really like it so far.
It’s easy to blend & build up the colour. It lasts all day & doesn’t fade. I think these are nice for days when you aren’t wearing much makeup to give a bit of colour.
I wouldn’t be surprised if I end up picking up some of the other colours later on. 🙂
the only cheek stain I have is from the body shop… lol, I am sort of hesitant to buy more because a)I don’t think I would like them, and b) I just think they’d be hard to work with and I just don’t have kind of time in the morning!
I’ve tried them out, but I don’t really think they work on me. They seem to make my pores look bigger. I think powder blush is easier to apply, too.
