Make Up For Ever #12 Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick
Make Up For Ever #12 Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick ($19.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a darkened magenta pink with a frosted finish. Because of the drier formula, the frost finish is particularly harsh and noticeable, so this is a shade that I like mixed with either balm, clear gloss, or some other lip gloss to give it a smoother look overall. It’s almost a matte-frost, actually. This shade really clings to lips, and it was a touch drying for me after five hours of wear.
About the Formula: The Rouge Artist Intense formula is typically opaque, and while it’s not a moisturizing lipstick, it’s not a drying one either (but #12 was a bit drying after a few hours for me), though it does not feel creamy against the lips (it may take a little more pressure to apply than your average lipstick). With lighter shades, I see four hours of wear, but with this brighter shade, I get around five to six hours of wear.

FINAL THOUGHTS: This is a pink that will suit cooler skin tones particularly well, but warmer skin tones should be able to wear it. Try pairing it with a cool pink cheek and purple eyeshadow. I do not recommend this particular shade to anyone with dry or cracked lips.

When you use the term “clinging” in reference to lipstick, does that describe what happens when a lipstick instantly makes ones lips appear more wrinkly, even though the product is spread smoothly, but the lips do not look or feel smooth and plump?
Kind of – it’s really the feeling of the color sticking to your lips, really tightly.
OMG… you look so super pretty…. and i need this one right now!
This is a lovely color on you, Christine.
Looks pretty!
NOOOO! So 80s and not in a good way. heavily frosted pink lilacs should stay there!
I agree! D:
I have this color! it’s the only Rouge Artist Intense lipstick I own and I totally agree with your final thoughts, especially that last part about dry lips. I think the color is so pretty though, and try to make my lips more hydrated with lip gloss 🙂
This kind of looks like a matte version of NARS Downtown l/g.
Gorgeous! 🙂
The color will not look goo on me since I am tan NC40 but this is a pretty shimmer violet pink for lighter and cooler skin tones.
Ew, looks kind of frosty.
It’s too frosty for my taste, but the color itself is very pretty. It suits you very well Christine!
Barbie pink! As in, my Barbies would actually wear this…
I love it, I want it so …
I love the colour but it’s a shame it’s sooo frosty, they always look terrible on me do frosts.
I own this colour with the #33 , they both are gorgeous colour, but like christine said it’s not suitable for dry lips…
