How do you organize your eye products?
I keep my favorite eyeliner formulas in glass cups on my vanity, eye primers in my vanity, and a few liquid/cream go-to eyeshadows (one and done kind of products) in my vanity. I have palettes in a closet with more permanent palettes (as well as freestyle palettes with singles in them) by brand and then limited edition palettes in clear bins. For everything else, I keep it by brand >
I have everything organized in byAlegory acrylic organizers:
– paint pots and eye color creams sorted by brand in a drawer
– palettes and eyeshadow singles sorted by brand, on a shelf in a tower display
– eyeliners and mascaras in separate glass vases, on a shelf in a tower display
For my vanity area and daily use, I have a glam tray that I prep and rotate products through every week.
Glam tray, I love that!
Better than my cheek products…. one drawer of Sterlite container stores most of my premade palettes, the drawer above it stores most of my eyeshadow singles, gel liners, eye makeup brushes in a tall tumbler inside the drawer (because cats make destroy them if out!), full-sized mascara. There’s more e/s palettes in my sock drawer which is directly in front of me where I sit to apply my makeup. There are more e/s singles and all my Nyx palettes in the top drawer of a chest. Self-made MAC and a Viseart Theory palette in a MAC holiday container? A plastic thing has all my sample mascaras, tweezers and eyeshadow primer, and almost all my eye pencils held together with a hair elastic. I obviously need a better system!
I have almost all my eye shadows in a self made palette that I keep ij my everyday drawer and the rest by type in my vanity.
I have struggled with how to organize my eye shadows and I am hoping that someone will have a wonderful idea that I can steal. I have tried dividing them by color families, type of shadow (powder, crème, etc.), manufacturer and I haven’t been happy with any of the options. Currently I have my single eye shadows divided into warm and cool undertones, then by color families within those categories. My palettes are stored alphabetically. I do have smaller palettes, trios and quads that I store separate from the larger palettes. I keep them in one drawer.
Eye products are my jam… So they are a bit all over the place! ?
My eyeliners are with my eye brushes, because I just have a few.
I shop my cream shadows regularly so I have a few in my “essentials” vanity drawer to access them easily on a daily basis. Mascaras (waterproof and non waterproof) are also there.
Now for the palettes… I cut the packaging of my viseart palettes in two to attach them together. This way I can store my palette straight up in the first drawer of the small Alex unit I have at my vanity. I also label them for accessibility. My others palettes are tidied flat next to it. All my singles are in palettes (except one back up), I dislike going through small items ?.
Organize? HA!!!! I have eye products in 3 different places, with the products I use most often in my bathroom cabinets and in a small basket on my bathroom vanity (this is my ensuite, which only I use) for stuff in current/constant use. Then I just hope I can find/remember where I put the stuff that isn’t used as frequently (oh, the time I’ve wasted looking for an eyeshadow and just a few days ago, I spent a long time searching for the Anastasia Mario palette only to find it moved around in the “frequently used” cabinet.
Sounds about right! Aside from my daily essentials that I carry around in my purse each day, I have a stack of plastic drawers where I try to “organize” all my makeup. For eyes – single shadows, eyeliners, mascara, and small palettes in one bin and full sized palettes in another. But after I use an item (especially the small ones) and put it down somewhere in the apartment or in a handbag – guarantee I’ll be searching at least 30 minutes for it the next time I think to use it!
I often “misplace” smaller items but this was a whole palette and I was getting frustrated looking in the 3 places where it “should” have been, totally forgetting about the 4th place I keep some quads and palettes (and, oddly enough, some I use quite often). I’d have ended up tearing things apart except that, quite out of the blue, a light bulb went off and I recalled moving it to this other spot because I had a half inch of room to fit it in!
I totally feel you! Happens to me all the time to the point where my husband ignores me when I say I lost something lol!
I have a jar for eyeliners and mascaras. I put palettes in a basket on top of a lg. organizer. I have an acrylic organizer on my vanity with eyeshadows I’m currently using. I have drawer with just MAC eyeshadows
For brush/tube shaped things (e.g., mascara, brushes, brown pencils, eyeliners) — I use antique glasses; I enjoy shopping for these at flea markets, and they’re pretty one the counter. For eyeshadows in palettes or pots, that’s a little less organized… favorites and most used I try to keep in my top drawer in master bath, but they tend creep out to be top of counter during stretches of days when I’m rushing to get to the office. I probably should figure out something more practical for those.
I store my products in a large drawer. I have rectangular organizers for most products. I keep my mascaras and eye primer together, my liners, and my brow products in their respective organizer. I have a larger acrylic tray for my single shadows. I keep my lashes and lash glue in the back of the drawer. For my palettes, I have a separate drawer, which is the same size as the one for my other eye products. I lay the palettes flat, since the drawer is shallow.
I keep my stick eyeshadows in empty balm containers arranged on my vanity. Most of my eyeshadows are in stick from, but I also have some single eyeshadows and palettes stacked next to the containers. Empty product containers make for great storage!
I keep my shadow palettes in an acrylic display or stacked on my table. I don’t have enough room to store them, lol! I keep my shadow singles in wine glasses because I don’t drink, but I have wine glasses. I think it looks cute. Liners and mascara go in pencil bags to keep them all together.
I keep them in little plastic containers one for crea one for powder ( larger) and a plastic pencil container for eye liner pencils and mascara. My other pencil container has my brushes. I’ve recently gotten some paltettes they are stacked on top of the powder. I love buying stuff and don’t want to get a lot because it’s overwhelming to me and it’s counterproductive.
I’ve had that issue with clothes I get too much can’t even see what I have. Wished could see pix of everyone’s system. I’ve peeked at Christine’s –organization is fascinating to me.
I keep all of my quads and palettes together standing from biggest to smallest on top of my shelf/stand beside where I keep my skin care, and I have two plastic bins where I organize my single eye shadows I don’t use every day.
And then for singles I do use every day/often, I keep them in my acrylic organizer!
I also keep mascara, eye liner, and eye primer in my every day acrylic organizer because I use those things every day!
Eye palettes are stacked on shelves. De-potted singles are in color-coded Zpalettes. Eyeshadow singles that can’t be de-potted are sorted by brand into boxes. Loose shadows are sorted by color in clear containers. Quads, quints, and smaller pallettes get a drawer in my vanity. Eyeliners are sorted by color in cups on my vanity. Mascaras are keep in a makeup bag in my vanity. Colored mascaras are in a separate box. Eye primers are kept in the acrylic organizer on top of my vanity along with my foundations and face primers.
I had a feeling that you would be a very organised person!
Ha! I’m more successful in some areas than others, though. LMAO
I have a similar setup to my cheek products, just one drawer down in my Alex-5 drawers. I have 3 Glossyboxes and two acrylic bins along the side in the drawer. From frontmost box to farthest, I have- palettes, then single shadows/cream shadows (though my ColourPop ones and some cream shadows are in Muji drawers I just got during their sale for $10 each on the tabletop), and in the back GB I have larger palettes like my UD Vice one and UD Spectrum palettes. In the side acrylic bins I have liners in front, and mascaras in back. I also have a small circular glass thingy (was once a seaweed shaker) that I keep stick eyeshadows in in front of the two acrylic risers.
I have all my eyeliner pencils (and lip pencils and an eyebrow pencil) wrapped up together and sitting in my brush cup (a metal flower pot from Ikea). I only own a few cream shadows, so if they come in a kit (ColourPop quads) I leave them in the packaging and the others are kept in a large plastic baggie with all my gel eyeliner pots and other products that come in small jars (Nyx eye base, ABH dipbrow, etc.). That baggie resides in my makeup drawer, as do all my palettes, both freestyle and pre-made. My UD eye primer and whatever mascara I’m using live in my makeup bag.
I’m so disorganized with my makeup it’s actually sick 🙁
Like Pearl, I have my eyeshadows and blushes in byAlegory acrylic organizers in a deep drawer, along with shadow singles, foundation, powder, q-tips, mascaras-in-waiting, etc. In a shallow vanity drawer I keep my staples – moisturizers, primers, eyelash curler, mascara, brow sculpter, etc. The only thing I keep on my vanity is my brush holder – a rectangle glass “vase” from Save-On-Crafts filled with filler plastic pellets from Amazon. Brushes are a HUGE weakness of mine so I like to look at them.
I love the information from you and all of your followers.
I keep all my eyeshadows in the second-from-the-top drawer of my Ikea Alex drawers. I just stack them on top of each other, smaller in front and larger in the back. I have 8 in that section so it’s not hard to find things quickly.
On the right side, I have a narrower two-section organizer that holds cream shadows on one side and singles on the other.
Then, I have a three-section organizer in the back of that same drawer that holds smaller palettes and quads, like Naked Basics-size and smaller. I can see pretty much every shadow and palette just by opening the drawer.
On top of my vanity, I have a drawer for eyeliners in my acrylic organizer. I keep my mascara on the very top of the organizer, where products are kind of “on display.”
IKEA Alex drawers
My liners, pencil shadows, etc are stored in small glass jars in the back row of a clear tackle box with the top taken off. Liner pens are stored point down in one jar, regular liquid liners are in another jar, and there are other jars for high-end liner pencils, DS/Ulta liner pencils, and shadow pencils My single shadows and cream/gel liners are divided between two other compartments. (All the other compartments are used for lip products.)
This tackle box I use as a makeup organizer sits on top of three plastic drawers. The bottom two are full of eyeshadow palettes. As a general rule, the middle drawer is all my UD, Too Faced, ABH, It Cosmetics, and any HE I only have one of. Bottom drawer includes Tarte, KVD, Buxom, my one little Bare Minerals palette, Juvia’s Place, and all my DS/budget brand palettes.
Basically, I have my quads and quints organized by colour (blues, greens, neutrals, greys); my larger palettes in my ensuite cupboard and a bag on the vanity that contains my blush, mascara etc. The palette of the week or the month that I am using sits on the vanity. It’s very far from perfect.
I keep my go to products in my roll up makeup organizer for my heavy travels. I have backups on the ready in a zip lock bag so I can see what’s in there. My vanity houses all the extras that were once my go to’s.
I have a 4-ft tall Sterilite drawer tower with two large drawers for palettes, corralled with upright mail organizers, then on top of the tower I have an acrylic organizer that holds mascara, eyeliner, and primers that are used frequently, spoolies, lash combs, lash curlers, pencil sharpeners, etc. on the side that looks like it should hold lipstick. In the three drawers in the acrylic organizer are my WNW 8-pan palettes, the next has NYX Prismatic singles, some indie brand loose pigments organized by color, then my L’Oreal Infallibles/Hard Candy Fierce Effects in the bottom drawer also organized by color.
I have some LORAC pro palettes between the acrylic organizer and a small drawer tower, then two drawers of the tower house all my Colourpop supershock shadows organized by color and finish.
A small square plastic drawer organizer holds my paint pots, daily use color tattoos, crayon/stick shadows used for base, along with my everyday concealers and foundations for easy access.
For lesser used items, I have a long thin drawer organizer filled with cream shadows in pots, organized by brand then color. Lesser used cream stick shadows are in a three-compartment acrylic organizer on a small decorative shelf above my vanity, which also holds all my makeup removers and pointed q-tips for fixing eyeliner mishaps. Single shadows are in a plastic Sterilite shoe box, glitters are in a Sterilite shoe box, as are all my false lashes, which are on a large shelf above my vanity area.
Mostly I group by like-products by brand, then color within brand so the items with the same packaging fit neatly in the same space. The plastic drawer organizers from the Dollar Tree have been a lifesaver for organizing, as have plastic desk organizers and acrylic organizers from Marshall’s!
Love! Love! Reading everyone’s comments I learn so much! I simply place my eyeshadow palettes the longer shaped ones rectangle or square (I avoid buying the huge ones for the very reason of taking too much space and do not want to over spill more makeup items to my drawers). I have three glass shelves/three drawers on each side of my sink, I used to share one with shelf with my daughter but she moved with her boyfriend close to home luckily. I just place them outside the cardboard box by stacking them up laying flat. The smaller sets I line up by size small first, bigger after, in a pretty flowered gift box I received from my sister in law with some fancy candles. The mascaras, eyeliners or plenty lip glosses I put in round glass containers I have brought home given to us from weddings. I love the idea since I can easily spot a color through the glass and they look neat and organized. I think I’m a bit OCD too as others mention here no doubt! Lol! But is is great when it comes to makeup! I’m always hunting pretty candles, cups where I hold my brushes by function blush, highliters and stiple brushes, thicker and thin. I make it fun, tidy and pretty as I possibly can.
