Too Faced Peanut Butter and Honey Eyeshadow Palette ($36.00 for 0.39 oz.) includes nine eyeshadows in more satin to matte finishes (one shade was more shimmery). The eyeshadows are scented, though it smelled more like sweet vanilla than particularly nutty or honey-like to me. The palette officially debuts on March 1st (it was released for one day for Ulta Platinum members last week).

Christine, I love the look you did with this. It is one of my favorites you’ve done. The yellow really makes the green in your eyes twinkle. The whole look is so, so pretty!
I have a question: Do you think it is healthy/okay to put scented shadows like that near the eyes? It kind of worries me! Also, how strong is the scent; does it fade quickly? I almost want to buy this (depending upon your review) but the scented thing has me not sure. I’ve never bought one of the scented Too Faced products (PB&J palette, Peach, etc.) before. Thanks.
I’m not a chemist, scientist, or doctor, so if you are concerned, I would talk to your doctor about it, who is going to be far more informed than I! 🙂 The scent will vary from product to product – some Too Faced products are more scented than others, and it depends on how sensitive you are to smell (and good your nose is!), as some can smell it lingering and others cannot!
So far so good! I haven’t really been into the whole Too Faced Peach / Peanut Butter range so I’m not too surprised at the colour selection here!

Overall this looks interesting, but I hate how their tin palettes always have such pale base colors. Those three larger pan shades would be pretty much useless on my skin tone.
If only these did NOT have sodium saccharin as an ingredient, I would buy this one for the actual shades. I love these kinds of warm, yet zingy neutrals! And that eye look you did, Christine, makes me really hate this weird sulfa allergy even more than before! ?
Miska
Nancy,
Your “sulfa allergy” comment gave me pause. I myself have a sulfa drug allergy and was wondering if I now have to keep an eye out for an irritant in cosmetics that has to do with sulfa allergies? I’ve had some gnarly reactions to things in the past so any wisdom you can pass along would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Miska, my reaction to the Too Faced original Chocolate Bar Palette was due Too Faced adding sodium saccharin to their chocolate/ peanut butter/ peach smelling eyeshadow formula. When I bought mine 3 years ago, I had no idea that this was an ingredient or even that saccharin was a sulfa, as I don’t consume any artificially sweetened foods in decades. The reaction was bad enough that I wound up having to get in to see my opthalmologist. This additive serves zero purpose in making a great eyeshadow. We do not need flavored eyelids.
kellly
Yay! I don’t have a saccharin allergy but I love your comment about “We do not need flavored eyelids”! Thank you!!
Kayla
I have seen you on here before Nancy, cursing your sodium saccharin allergy, and I’ve always felt so terrible because you have to miss out (I have food and drug allergies myself, but it isn’t quite the same as missing out on makeup!), but I didn’t realize that saccharin was a sulfonamide-derivative! You sent me into an overprotective panic research mode because my boyfriend is allergic to sulfa drugs as well (though he was a baby when he was tested, so who knows how bad it is now at 27), and my brother is a diabetic so his wife is constantly making diabetic-friendly desserts for family functions that my boyfriend will graciously eat (he’s too nice) and now I’m just like “OMG, I have to check the ingredients lists on everything! Don’t ever consume anything with Sweet’n Low, babe! Avoid saccharin!” And he’s just like “…k?” Haha. So thank you for this, really! I appreciate it!
Kayla, that’s GOT to be hard for your boyfriend! And you! Especially being around foods that need to be made using artificial sweeteners. The only one I can use without any allergic (saccharin) or gastrointestinal issues (sucralose, aspertame) is Stevia. Needless to say, I’d be in trouble if my sugar levels ever got out of control. Perhaps, she could use Stevia instead? At least when she knows you’ll both be there?
Kayla
Yeah, all of the artificial sweeteners do tend to cause some gastrointestinal issues, especially if consumed in excess, and also tend to have a horrible bitter aftertaste (in my opinion, at least.) Thankfully, my boyfriend and I are not diabetics so we can consume real sugar and avoid them when we’re able to, haha, but again, he’s such a nice guy that he’s willing to eat whatever they put in front of him. My sister-in-law usually uses box mixes for her desserts, and per my research, they tend to contain mannitol sugar alcohol, sucralose, and acesulfame potassium (which is sulfUR-derived, but not sulfA-derived) so I think we’re safe. But I will just double check from now on to be safe. Thanks again!
Kayla
On second thought, I am allergic to mushrooms and shellfish, so I do have to look at ingredients lists thoroughly, especially when it comes to skincare! It’s all the rage to put mushrooms in things now, especially.

Don’t forget Cosdna, best resource on th planet. I had no idea that saccharine was sulfa derived, either. I have to avoid chem sunscreens and aloe. The sunscreens are dreadful…at times not listed as such, and some have multiple chemical names for products with virtually no difference. And then there’s Benzyl salicylate, which can function as a sunscreen OR a fragrance related ingredient. The good news on allergies, is that in about ~7 years, you might cycle out of that allergy. I outgrew wool allergy. But I’m not willing to try penicillin again!
Kayla
kjh, yeah, I’m allergic to penicillin, shellfish, and mushrooms, and I know I’m at least “sensitive” to chemical sunscreens when they are applied to my face (but not on my body…?), so I’m constantly Googling the latin names on all of these things because you never know offhand if it’s a flower extract or a mushroom or what (unless you’re in that line of work or a pro gardener, maybe, heh.) Cosdna is great, such a helpful resource!
I don’t think I’d wear that yellow shadow – I can’t think of a look that would make it flattering on my skin tone – and the rest is very classic, dupable, and too red/orange for my taste. Easy pass!
This palette looks pretty similar to a few of their recent offerings and the honey/peanut butter scent is quite a turn off for me.

I like this palette, but really I have colors like this, so a pass, plus I already ordered my eyeshadow palette for the year, too faced shadows used to be my fav when I first started collecting but I have not bought a too faced palette in about 6 going on 7 years. Deep down in my heart I wish bare minerals would revamp and bring out some more ready eyeshadow palettes, they are my favorite formula of all the palettes I have. I doubt it will ever happen.
Miska
Nancy T.,
Again, thank you so much for sharing this information. I had no idea…and I’m so sorry that happened to you! THANK YOU so much, you saved me from having a reaction for sure. Sending good karma your way 🙂
My biggest problem with TOO FACED tin eyeshadow palettes is how large those “transition” colors are. Who needs THAT much light based eyeshadow? It would make more sense to add a nice dark brown for smoking the eye out and lower lash line. I think the Peanut Butter & Jelly one has better color selection too.
This one does nothing for me personally.
Betty
Your eye look is inspiring who knew a little touch of yellow would make such a difference in an otherwise neutral look? On the other hand, I don’t think I’d buy this palette just for the yellow shade…
Nope. It’s not terrible, but the only shade in this palette that’s unique is Honey Buns, and I understand there are dupes out there.

Where’s the pigment?????

Hmmmm….Not great. Though I find Too Faced shadows work much better over primer.
The eye look you came up with is gorgeous!
I have and love my PB&J palette, probably don’t need both but these colors are lovely.
I don’t hear this palette calling my name.
I really like the look you did though, Christine.
The colors aren’t going to work well for me , but I may pick this up just because I love honey!
