Dior Gris-Gris (034) Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Dior Gris Gris Eyeshadow Palette
Dior Spring 2011: Gris Gris
Dior Gris-Gris (034) 5-Colour Eyeshadow Palette ($58.00 for 0.21 oz.) is new and is part of Dior’s spring collection. (I’m not sure about the permanence of this product–still waiting for confirmation.) It is aptly named, as it consists of five shades that are variations on white/black/gray.
There is a blue-tinged white with a frosted finish; medium-dark bluish-gray with a satin finish; pewter gray with a metallic-frost sheen; bright snow white with a high metallic-frost finish; and a dark, matte black with silver micro-sparkle. For the traditional, more monochromatic smoky eye, this is a perfect palette to create those kinds of looks. I like the gradual intensity of gray from white to black, which allows for a lot of different variations in how light or dark you want to go.
This quint has very smooth, buttery eyeshadows that are nicely pigmented, not powdery, and effortlessly blendable. I did not feel like there were any problem children in this palette, which is really nice to see, because often there is at least one imperfect shade in any palette.

FINAL THOUGHTS: It’s a high quality palette with rather classic shades of white, gray, and black; whether it’s a must-have depends on your stash. None of these shades are out-of-this-world unique, but they work well together and come in a convenient palette, too.

4 of the 5 shades in this pallet almost looks exactly like the quad that loreal makes called blackened smokes!!
Beautiful colours. My poor purse is crying at the thought of all the new make up it will be funding this next month! It’s tough being a girl – haha. Thanks for all your hard work 🙂
i love these types of colours for a snow bunny look! I used UD mary jane, mac scene, UD virgin, UD gunmetal and smashbox midnight black on Christmas day for snow bunny eyes! I won’t buy this because I have a lot of similar colours though I love the combination
Beautiful. But I need to see more NC 40-NW55 to wear these shades. But this palette will suit beautiful blond hair girls perfectly, I think.
looks gorgeous, think a matte black would have been better though. kinda reminds me of lorac’s evening star. love greys but I usually think of them as winter collection not spring?
dior shadows generally seems a little overpriced to me vs other brands
That black shade looks so lovely. It’s amazing how you can capture the sparkles in that, Christine! Loved your “problem children” reference. I actually giggled out loud!
Really boring colours…
Being a total gray eyeshadow ho I love this – everything but the price tag!! I will probably pass on it due to the cost.
What a beautiful collection of greys
Good color payoff
If I did not already own NARS Underworld duo and Bobbi Brown’s Midnight Metallics and a few other shadows which Gris-Gris dupes, I’d buy it. What a gorgeous palette for blue-eyed blondes!
I’ve been stalking Nordies for it, can’t wait!
Gris Gris bags are given out in New Orleans as good luck charms. I wonder if this palette brings luck to all those who wear it LOL. I do agree though that it is a beautiful collection of grays.
I’m loving this one! Of course I have these types of shades already, but I loving the pigmentation of them as well as the convenience of having them all in a palette. By the way, Gris (grey) means pig in swedish. The Swedish word for grey is ‘grå’.
I love the black…
Christine, and will you be reviewing the Eye designer palette? I’m dying for it and can’t wait for your review xoxo
No, I won’t be, sorry!
Love Dior’s palettes but I’m tired of the sparkly black shade. I already have it in Twilight and Night Butterfly.
why do some websites call this palette Symphony while others call is gris gris? confused…
There’s a photo included in the post of the back, which shows the name! 🙂
OMG!!! I am so getting this! I think those colors are made for a classy/mommy/smokey eye look. {yes, I am a mom..lol :)} Colors seem somewhat standard to me. I am sure I must have something in my collection that will be very similar to this, but I am willing to splurge on the convenience of having all the colors in one unit packaging. Yay!
Thanx for the Post FAQ. I can’t wait until it becomes available.
I usually HATE Dior’s eye shadow palettes (too powdery), but these colors look really nice. Pigmented and smooth. Seems like they’re all easily dupable though.
Does anyone know if it’ll be available in Europe and if so when?? I want this so badly!!!!:-))
I adore the texture of Dior shadows but cool colors look horrible on me! I’ll be skipping this one.
I love any kind of Dior quint! Love Love Love! Thank you for the review Christine 🙂
This doesn’t remind me of spring and it looks like a quad that has been done many times. This is also very similar to the Smokey Eyes quad from Chanel.
You know as much as I adore Dior, I will have to pass. I have to many similar grays, whites and blacks.
My god, that is funny: in my country, “Gris” means “pig”, so this is a double-pig! Best looking pig ever, though!
I’ve got 2 other quintets by Dior and I don’t like them at all. First, the colours are almost the same (each palette has the same black with micro-glitter and the same matt grey as this one so, the more palettes you buy, the more dupes you get). And second (and most important), colours are NOT PIGMENTED AT ALL. A friend of mine said this is done on purpose, since it’s for women of a certain age that aren’t so good in make up or don’t want to show too dark eyes o_O If I spend money on a palette, I want to wear in a way that colours are visible. No more Dior palettes for me. (colours are wonderful on my fingers or for swatches… but on eyelids they disappear)
If I would be blond it would be screaming my name! Perfect also for dark haired girls with very fair skin. Really nice I think.
So beautiful 🙂 I’ve already these colors but it’d be cool to have them all in one box, plus that black is amazing!
Ps: For the ones saying it’s nice for blonds, I’ve dark hairs and green eyes and these colors work great for me 🙂
