Le Metier de Beaute Nail Lacquer Review, Photos, Swatches (Le Cirque)

Le Metier de Beaute Nail Lacquer
Noble Passion, High Wire, Magic at Dusk, Dynamique

A Quick Look at Le Metier de Beaute Nail Lacquers

Le Metier de Beaute Nail Lacquers ($15.00 for 0.14 fl. oz.) saw the addition of four shades for their fall collection, Le Cirque:

  • Noble Passion is a deep, iridescent navy blue with brightened blue-violet shimmer. This is a really cool shade. It glows in natural light as well as full light–not something every polish can do! It was almost pigmented enough in one coat, but I used two. It was reminiscent of Orly’s Lunar Eclipse, but while there are some similarities, they do look different and have totally opposite finishes. I also felt like a comparison could be made to Rescue Beauty Lounge’s Scrangie in the kind of feel–but the two are not the same in color at all.
  • High Wire is a mauve-tinged silvered gray with a metallic finish. With the more metallic finish, I did get brush strokes, but color was incredibly pigmented with just one coat used here. I couldn’t think of any dupes for this shade.
  • Magic at Dusk is a muted beige-pink with coppered gold shimmer. Two coats. I couldn’t think of any dupes for this shade.
  • Dynamique is an ultra deep, dark burgundy-red cream. Just one coat. It is similar to Essie’s Velvet Voyeur but with more red.

Le Metier de Beaute’s Nail Lacquers come an undoubtedly painful price point. These are tiny little bottles with still-hefty price tags, but the formula is dreamy. It’s not too thick or thin, but what stands out is the pigmentation–very rich, intense pigment in nearly one stroke. I think if I was a little more careful, I could have made some of these one coaters. I was able to get a full week’s worth of wear with just minor tip wear.

Welcome to Swatch-all-idays! To start 2011 off on the right foot (or post, as it may be!), Temptalia is going through a backlog of products we have photographed, swatched, and often tested but in a slightly different manner. Quick reviews may be partially incomplete, such as a blush may only be swatched on the arm rather than shown on the face. It is our hope that what we are able to provide is still helpful!

If you want to know more about how products are evaluated, read out Rating System FAQ! 🙂

  • Product: 29/30
  • Value: 6/10
  • Ease of Use: 4/5
  • Packaging: 4/5

RECOMMENDATION: From these four, I think three of them are really interesting shades–so in that respect, I liken this brand to Chanel. It’s a luxury brand, so if it’s something within your budget, I think they’re worth a look–especially now that the brand has increased their distribution channels.

I compare across similar brands – I’m not comparing this brand to OPI. It would make the grade of value completely meaningless, because it would artificially inflate the overall ratings of cheap products and artificially deflate the overall ratings of expensive products when the quality of the product (the product score) is really the most important part of the puzzle. Since everyone’s budgets are different, as well as what they like to spend their money on, value is something that may be seen differently — e.g. some prefer less product but cheaper prices than tons of product with a higher price tag because they know they won’t use it all up.

2/10 is a little extreme, don’t you think? If a brand is average that’s either 7/10 or 8/10 (average really being 75%, which would be 7.5, but I do not give out half points). I try to be fair in my ratings and apply the same method over and over again so that products can be compared.

For some people, quality trumps quantity. I work hard for my money. Informed decisions can only be made with the the help of fair reviews. Anger bias has no place in make up selection. I would gladly skip purchasing 10 so-so blue nail polishes to save for that one beautiful blue one. I would use that expensive puppy til the bottle went dry.

Kayla Avatar

They’re really beautiful polishes. I especially love the blue. I just can’t justify the price. Although, I can’t say I’ve ever finished a full-size bottle of nail polish…might have to talk myself into it.

That looks like OPI mod brights blue, i don’t remember the name. I really want that polish and I’m trying to save my money until i get a job. Please don’t post anymore royal blue polish swatches until i’m employed. thanks 😀

From my collection, I thought Essie Porcini could have been a dupe for Noble Passion, but Porcini looks like it has too much peach/orange in it and a bit more gold. Oh well!

*clutches heart*

The price/amount ratio on these just kills me, but High Wire and Noble Passion look amazing (and you’re totally right about not finding any dupes; I can’t think of a single one either!)

Le Metier de Beaute polishes are incredible. They wear really well. The price is not bad when you consider you never finish a full size bottle, so you waste. I am running out to get High Wire!

Noble Passion looks like just about the most perfect nail color I’ve ever seen. I don’t like to wear bright colors on my nails so something like that color is just perfect for me!

hey christine, so weird i wanted to write down the name of the beautiful beige-pink nail color and i noticed there was someone who mentioned the colors were switched. so i checked and according to the Neiman Marcus website, the pinky one is called “Magic at Dusk” and the blue one is called “Nobile Passion” (spelled with the “i” in it!) i wonder whats going on?

It’s not your fault at all! It was the shade I wanted so I went by NM’s swatches instead of the name. =) Do you know if the testers were mis-labeled?

liz Avatar

omg, so pretty. i should not have clicked, i am totally getting High Wire and Noble Passion, maybe Magic at Dusk too. I have too many similar to the other one though.

chiffonrobot Avatar

Oooh can you swatch Baltic Blue? I’ve been eying it on the Nordstrom’s website for ages because it’s a light blue and I was hoping that it might be a better color and/or a better formula than Riva.

Naz Avatar

Even if the quality of the polish is the greatest ever, I can’t justify $15 for less than 0.2 oz of polish…I have to admit, the colors are pretty though!
