When you want to pamper your skin, what do you do?
REALLY pamper, then I’d go to a spa and get a facial. For at-home pampering, I would exfoliate and then do a hydrating mask!

I go to a spa and get a facial. LOVE the facial massages that are done during facials.
I have only ever had one facial in my life and that must have been 30 years ago. Now that I live in Montana and way out in the country, I don’t foresee ever having one again, LOL. So, for me to pamper my skin I use a good exfoliator and then one or two face masks. I really like super hydrating masks and deep cleansing masks so I will sometimes do a deep cleanse, exfoliate and then follow with a hydrating mask. I try to get testers of more expensive skin care line and then I like to try them on a pamper night to see how they feel. Not always good to try a bunch of new stuff at the same time since you will never know what works or what caused your skin to react poorly but it is fun to play with new things.
You’re extremely right about not trying a bunch of new stuff at the same time. But that’s what facials do to you… so i wouldn’t say you’re missing anything for not getting them.
I pamper myself whenever I have time.. before bed while watching Telly, before I put on heavy makeup, or just waking up on a lazy Sunday… So almost everyday? but I do have a fixed time for chemical exfoliating (Sunday).
I use many masks! Some are brightening, some more nourishing, some just hydrating. I also use the traditional muddy mask that draw out impurities from time to time, but I don’t like it that much. I’ve hoarded more than a hundred sheet masks that I’m still trying to use up, but I’m using more mud / clay type of mask inside a tub or tube at the moment.
I’ve also got this facial messager that I pretty much use everyday.
I don’t do facials, like ever. I don’t know, I’m extremely invested in my skincare and feel like they can mess it up. I don’t wanna be pushed products either.
I have several masks I keep in the fridge. I will massage one on. I would love to get a facial but I am allergic to most things out there so I would not risk my skin like that
That’s exactly what I do, too! Exfoliate, apply whatever mask my skin is needing from me (love me a good sheet mask!), then, once done, apply a soothing deep moisturizer!
Also, I pamper it from the inside every day, as well. A high-potency fish oil supplement and D3, for one. CoQ10 and L-Arginine are also in my repertoire daily.
Sheet masks 🙂
I’ve only ever done at-home stuff, and for me the main pamper item is face masks. Though I also do those as a sort of “regular skin maintenance”. I would love a nice bath but I’ve never had a decent bathtub for that.
My dream pamper would be either a day at a spa which I’ve always wanted to do but never done due to lack of interested company and lack of funds, or a day at an Onsen (Japanese hot springs). Ideally I’d love to have a Japanese-style soaking tub in my own bathroom for long, hot baths with Epsom salts and such for my chronic pain. That would be amazing.
I would use a sheet mask and a really good moisturizer.
I love to lock the bathroom door, light a candle, put on some music and run myself a bath! Then I’ll use one of my favourite face masks.
I used to use sheet masks during my me-time for a long time, but recently I just kind of stopped. So no more special pampering stuff for me at the moment.
I follow Caroline Hirons and do home facials per her directions. I don’t really get pimples or breakouts but I do have sensitive skin. Spa facials make me nervous for that reason- I’ve had some doozies! So I stick with hydrating masks, sprays, and oils.
I try to pamper my skin every day. I have been loving the SoKo 10-step skin care regimen. The nicest bit of pampering I’ve discovered in recent times is using a sleeping mask. What a lovely result to wake up to in the morning.
I have to say, most of what I do I do at home. I, literally, cannot remember the last time I had a facial. (Have I ever even had one? 🙂 ) I’m sure I’d love it, but it’s not something on my radar for whatever reason.
And, here’s to sleeping masks!!! And my little bottle of glycerin. Ah, the good things. Lol.
If my skin seems to need pampering, it’s most likely because it’s parched due to winter air conditions, since I keep it well-exfoliated on a regular basis. If it needed exfoliation I’d use glycolic or lactic acid, since they’re hydrating as well as exfoliating. I’d be extra gentle — remove makeup with coconut oil, wash gently, pat dry, and layer on moisturizing products over a niacinamide toner. I’d make sure to get plenty of humectants like glycerin and hyaluronic acid on first, then seal those in with rich emollients like argan oil and shea butter. Products I like for this include Paula’s Choice Skin-Balancing Pore-Reducing Toner, Resist Brightening Essence, Radiance Renewal Mask (these two have lots of glycerin and sodium hyaluronate/hyaluronic acid); and for sealing these in, PC’s Clinical Ultra-Rich Moisturizer and Eye Cream or Josie Maran Argan Oil, Whipped Argan Oil Face Butter, or Argan Balm.
My hands and feet can get really, seriously dry in the winter, so much so that my regular moisturizing products are not enough. Then I use Derma Topix as my daytime handcream, as it doesn’t wash off as fast as other hand creams (and I wear gloves if I go outside, so no need for sunscreen on my hands). At night on my hands (and after showering on my feet) I’ll use Paula’s Choice Resist Skin Revealing Body Lotion 10% AHA two or three times a week. I let it sink in, then seal it in with a thick, greasy, heavy, mineral-oil or petrolatum based cream (the kind I really hate, but they work in this situation!) like Vanicream or Curel Intensive Healing Fragrance-Free. Another option would be to just use AmLactin. On other nights I’ll use CeraVe moisturizing cream or First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream, followed after they sink in by one of the petrolatum-based products or Argan Balm.
I exfoliate and use a marine mud mask at home. It’s rare that I get a facial outside of home, but it’s fun when I do and feels like a real treat.
I do all things I normally do but I might multi mask! Like a clay or exfoliating mask, then a moisture one, plus my FULL evening routine.
Go to a spa for a deluxe facial. Oh I need one now just thinking about it.
I haven’t had a facial, but I do a home one. I cleanse, exfoliate and then use a hydrating mask. I follow that up with Argon oil later.
I like to do one for my hands too.
I use my lush fresh face mask in oatifix when I want to do a bit of pampering 🙂
When I REALLY want to pamper myself, i’ll run a bath, pop in a bath bomb, pour some oil into the water and soak in there for a bit. Then I’ll exfoliate my whole body (focusing on my arms because I have SEVERE Keratosis Pilaris) using a peeling gel. I’ll exfoliate my face using a chemical exfoliator, then i’ll pop on a sheet mask.
while the sheet mask is on, i’ll spread my all time favourite body cream on my arms, legs, stomach and chest. Then when the sheet mask is off, I’ll pat in the rest of the serum, then apply a thick cream, then some facial oil!!
Man! I’m not allowed to shower/bathe for the next four days (because I got my tumor taken out yesterday.) but this question’s REALLY making me want to do a pamper night LOL
Shannon, I pray you have a swift recovery.
I book a day at the spa….it’s not often, but oh so nice. I start with a wash, trim, and blowout. Move on to a 60 minute full body massage with different oils and hot stones on my upper spine (I have a degenerative disease in my spine and the hot stones are awesome). Then I’ll get a manicure and pedicure. I’ve never had a spa facial…not sure why. I’m probably too much of a germaphobe.
When I’m not being so indulgent, I’ll soak for 20 minutes or so in my deep tub or the outdoor hot tub. Followed by a nice body butter on everything but my feet. Then I’ll do a home pedicure and facial. My home facial is to use a mask like Glamglow, the one in the black. Exfoliate with my Clairsonic and then apply an essence and serum followed by a nice moisturizer. I’m slowly getting the hang of the 10 step Korean skincare regimens. Most of my treatments aim at moisturizing, reversing sun damage and antiaging. I’ve just found some nice sheet masks and little under eye masks to try….maybe tomorrow 🙂
I love the whole concept of a skin care ritual because it implies a bit of pampering every time the skin is cleansed. For this special times when I want to treat myself, I love a Kate Somerville facial. Those esthéticiens really know how to pamper a person with the skin care that is perfectly suited to what the skin is currently needing
At home, I remove my makeup with Tatcha cleansing oil and lightly massage my face with the crystal massager. I then gently exfoliate, apply a Tatcha mask, and go lie down for 20-30 minutes. While resting I like some soft and soothing classical music gently playing in the background. If I doze off for a bit, so much the better. When I get up and remove the mask, my skin is super soft and beautifully hydrated. When giving myself a facial, I use the time to relax and don’t do anything else.
To really go to town on my face, I really cleanse my face with a facial massage using a cleansing balm like Emma Hardie, wash off, then put on a hydrating sheet mask. I use a facial spritz like Pai Rosewater Affinity Tonic then put on an aromatic, thick facial oil like Caudalie or Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse to soak in before putting on a soothing moisturiser, my current fave is Barefoot SOS Repair and Revitalising cream.
Depending on if I want a mask that smells good I either like the Sephora rose sheet masks or the FRESH sample (that I use sparsely because I do not want to buy the full jar yet lol). If I want to do something that’s more for my pores, I’ve been liking the Origins charcoal mask…and the pink one too. I want to try the Rose Gold peel off mask though lol
I’ve never had a facial, but I am a huuuuge fan of face masks.
A facial massage with a nice face oil (almond oil or rosehip oil). 🙂
Pure honey face mask or moisturizing sheet mask (I like Benton’s Snail Bee), then hydrating serum/essence (I like Missha’s Ampoule), gentle moisturizer (usually CeraVe), and a few drops of oil (I like Acure Marula or Fresh’s Seaberry) to seal it all in.
I actually hate spas–they always stress me out!–so doing this at home in the tub is my favorite. 🙂
I have done very few facial pampering myself and have a nice place to go to near by they are actually practicing students. Mostly they’ll massage face, neck, arms and apply vitamins, etc. but they don’t mess with your face like cleaning deeply much which is good (besides I have a pretty nine skin they tell me) but find it so relaxing and face looks plumpy and with a nice glow for a few days. I should go more often. At home I apply mask one I like is from Borghese very moisterising. I tried Julep but find it too drying maybe great for polite skin I guess I’ll use for less than the 5 minutes recommended but it is good.
I have never done anything to pamper my skin before, just wash and moisturize, but last night I did my very first mask. It was in my Beautycon box, from Biobelle. I think it was called after the party or something like that. It was blueberry yogurt, and said it would soothe, moisturize, and make my skin look younger. It was so nice! Overlooking the fact that, like all sheet masks, it didn’t really have enough room for my eyes – the eye holes were closer together than my eyes actually are, when I took it off after 20 or so minutes, I had really nice soft skin. I don’t know if it made my skin look younger, but it’s still soft today. I always toss the masks in my subscription boxes, but now I think I’ll be using them!
