I learned that you can use Cleansing Oil to help make brushes whiter!
Thanks to Courtney for today’s question! Got a question idea? Submit yours here.
Using crushed aspirin as a mask or spot treatment!
red liner on your inner corners can help whiten your eyes, kandee johnson told me =)
I learned that wetting your brush intensifies mineralize eye shadows I didn’t know that and I’ve been wearing makeup for years
i love that tip, i’m gonna try it.
Can you explain me how you make brushes whiter with cleansing oil? (my 239 becomes grey…)
Take a little MAC Cleansing Oil, work it in, add a little water, and then rinse! 🙂
The importance of eye-primer 🙂
oh yes me too. and i keep asking myself how silly i was all these years…
ive gotten heaps of beauty tips off blogs but the two biggest were using olive oil as a moisturizer and a shave cream. totally amazing!
What?! How do you make brushes whiter?! I use baby shampoo on my brushes about once a week or two. They are white but not as white as they first were when I bought them!
Take a little MAC Cleansing Oil, work it in, add a little water, and then rinse!
Speaking of cleansing oils, do you have a favorite? I have oily skin but I reallllly like the sample of shu uemura I got.
I love shu’s! The orange one. It’s the only shu one I’ve tried, but I’ve almost finished a bottle… I think it’s a 32 oz bottle, LOL!
I have oily skin and the pink one is light enough for me 🙂
what do you mean to make brushes whiter???????????why do you want them to be whiter???
p.s…which cleansing oil do you use for removing make up??!!!
Take a little MAC Cleansing Oil, work it in, add a little water, and then rinse!!
oohh..and the best tip i learned is to use castor oil on my hair!
Before beauty blogs, I used to use sponges and sponge applicators for face and eye makeup. Since then, I use only brushes to apply my makeup. Best decision I ever made, hands down. The net best thing I learned is how truly important eye primers are. I could never wear eye makeup without it!
I have certainly learned A LOT about applying eyeshadows and creating bold looks from you Christine! 🙂
Aw 🙂
Mine’s kind of embarassing…
Toilet seat covers [like in public bathrooms] can be used as oil blotting sheets in a pinch! It does work!
I thought that was kinda gross when I saw that as a tip but lo and behold I forgot my blotting papers and powder and was out and getting all shiny and I ended up doing this, lol! I grabbed one from the back and tore off a piece and it worked. Of course someone walked in while I was doing this in front of the mirror but since I only had a scrap it didn’t look too crazy.
the best I learned is so embarrassing but I only learned about using eye lid/shadow primer from blogs. I’ve been in the dark on this one for such a long time!!!
don’t worry, so have I! 🙂
Using the opposite tone of skintone in the concealer and choosing pressing powder in 1 shade lighter than the foundation.
I’ve learned lots of make up looks but the best tip was from Clumps of Mascara. She showed me that if I cut my UDPP open there’s SO much product left in the container. LOVE IT! Genius.
I love that one too!
How to contour! It makes such a big difference for a look!
I use highlight and contour more often then blush myself since I’m always trying to hide my flushed checks/sides of my face. ^_^ I wouldn’t be so bad if it wouldn’t be so bad if it was just the apples but it gets red from my check bone down to my jawline and it not flattering. lol
I pretty much learned everything I know about makeup from blogs and youtube. 😉
• White or nude eye liner on you waterline to look more awake.
• Using Jojoba oil as a makeup remover as well as a leave in conditioner for your hair ends.
• using grease pencils or paints to intensify powder eyeshadows.
• the plop and plunk method for letting curly hair dry.
what is the plop and plunk method???:D:D
Here’s an explanation and a video. I use an Aquis microfiber hair turban when I do it.

I get so much enjoyment out of beauty blogs! The best tips I’ve learned:
– Use eyeshadow primer
– Using brushes to apply eye makeup takes your look to a new level
– Apply a highlight color such as Shroom to the the inner corner of your eye to brighten your face and make you look more awake
– Think of makeup as a hobby or a collection
baby oil as eye makeup remover..works like a charm!
The best thing I’ve learned is that makeup is fun! Seriously. I hated makeup, thought it was the most boring and shallow thing in the world, and only wore it to conceal flaws until I was 26 or 27 and accidentally discovered the world of beauty blogs and Youtube gurus. Now, well…I’m here aren’t I? 😉
LOL !!
I’m 25 and I feel the EXACT same way! 🙂
To use eyeshadow bases
Using colored cream bases as eyeshadow primers make my MAC eyeshadows super intense! love it!
Using jojoba oil as an overnight moisturizer. It’s such a multi-tasker, too. I use jojoba oil to tame frizzy hair, treat dry spots, and even condition my makeup brushes.
to put my de-puffing eye roller on at night before I go to bed; when I wake up, the puffs are’nt there, with no wait time for the stuff to work 🙂
oops–aren’t there–typo from not enough coffee yet
oh, and PRIMER, PRIMER, PRIMER!
castor oil on eyebrows make them grow.
stippling brush is invaluable when applying foundation and cream blushes
eyelash curler is not a necessity
simplicity is always in.
set my under eyeliner with carbon
Washing my brushes with antibacterial dish soap and olive oil is the BEST beauty tip I’ve ever received. It not only disinfects, but it gives the brushes moisturizer and helps them from shedding/drying out!
what a great tip. Do you just mix the Olive oil with the dish soap?
Yep, just a squirt of each on a dish and swirl your brushes in there 🙂
Michelle Phan has a video on it! It works very well, I prefer it to brush cleanser – much better value too! Alternatively, many people use baby shampoo as opposed to washing-up liquid(uk)/ dish soap. 🙂
1) Setting my eye liner with an eyeshadow
2) Using an NW concealer to cover blue under eye circles and NC concealer to cover red spots/blemishes
A few: Using shadow primer is a MUST; using the right brush to apply liquid foundation, using a concealer brush to apply concealer and to “highlight” the NL lines and other areas that need more light.
yesterdays blackhead removal from renee ? salon from dallas, tx.
Using colored cream bases to alter-brighten the color of eye shadows! I also learned about lip scrubs from beauty blogs.
using eye shadow as a eye liner i love it and that anything cream is best when set with powder
Use tweezers or pliers to remove the rubber stopper from Urban Decay Primer Potion. Stuff lasts MORE than double the amount of time it used to!
babywipes as makeup wipes! sooo much cheaper and nicer for your skin.
I learned my favorite tip from you, Christine! You taught me how to make my own mixing medium. I also bought Ricepaper eyeshadow after seeing it used in many of your looks. I love it!
I am eternally indebted to Karen from MBB for showing me the wonders of Benefit’s Creaseless Cream shadow in Birthday Suit, lol.
Applying concealer with a fluffy brush, as opposed to a flat, synthetic one! My skin looks sooo much better when I do.
I’m learned sooooo much from forums and blogs! The top three being applying my eye makeup before anything else, small brands, and mineral foundation.
Eyeshadow primer- TFSI not udpp
Tubing mascara
Cleansing oil
Different concealer for eye bags than blemishes
Loads of other things like Lipstick Quedn Medieval, EL DW
Thanks to beauty bloggers I now use face and eye primers, which are a godsend for my oily skin, and apply/blend my makeup with the right brushes. I also learned that I look better in warm colors than cool ones.
That Sheabutter is a lifesaver!! Since Ive been using this my hands are soft and that hasnt happened in years.
The importance of using primers and how to use my brushes 🙂
All the good things that TCA peels can do for my aging and sun-damaged skin: they’re fantastic (once I got over the initial fear) and really do reverse the damage!!
