One of the best deals for Black Friday is from Anastasia: 60% off eyeshadow singles. They retail for $12 each, so with the sale, they’ll be available for $4.80 each, which is a steal–the sale starts 11/25 and runs through 11/28 (see our roundup of deals here). Like $4.80 for high-quality eyeshadow is insane. High-end, mid-end, or drugstore or not. I doubt they’re going to further discount against their buy 4/buy 8 pricing, but if they do that? Then it’s just beyond ridiculous. RidiculousI tell you!
This is awesome! I have a bad habit of neglecting singles because of palette mania, but this sale is definitely worth it and this post makes shopping so much easier. Christine, you rock!

I am just getting into eyeshadow and have never used anything other than bad quality drugstore. I have been looking to seriously upgrade my eyeshadow collection. I have strongly considered Mac and Makeup Geek, but when I saw $4.80 for eyeshadows that are usually $12, my ears perked up. How is the overall quality of ABH compared to Mac and MUG? Thanks.
ABH is really good overall. I swear they reformulated some of their eyeshadows (particularly mattes) in the last year or so, too, as I find a lot of the newer mattes much better than their older ones. Their Titanium finish is tops!
ABH is more consistent than MUG for me. The texture of MAC eyeshadows is firmer but often still builds well and works better in practice than if you just swatched it. ABH runs softer overall. MAC has some great staple mattes, though. I would consider mixing/matching MAC and ABH mattes, but I’d probably head to ABH for shimmers/frosts.
$4.80 each…I’m dying of envy! Seeing as they ship to Canada, I might just cave and purchase 2 or 3. I wonder what shipping and duty would be like.
Hopefully you can get some insight via their FAQ (it seemed fairly detailed) – and then maybe do some cost analysis between paying Canadian via Sephora or direct through ABH!

I’m so so excited about this! I used to have so much trouble with eye makeup until the Mario palette. All the shadows compliment each other so well and are long lasting without any fall out, even without primer! Thank you so much Christine for the in depth swatches and descriptions! Would you happen to know if ABH singles are similar to the MR or Mario palette formula?
They are similar, though I feel like the ones in the Mario palette (that aren’t mattes) are a little softer overall than some of the brand’s regular shimmers!

What a great post. I already chose 4 colours to buy (Rosette, Macaroon, Chiffon and Henna), but I’m tempted to go with one of your suggested palettes, too. I’ll also be buying the Modern Renaissance palette. I’m so thrilled that ABH ships to my part of the world. This sale is really, really good.
Do you know if the discount applies to products already in your cart or if you have to add them again once the discount kicks in?

I went nuts! I already had a bunch of their single shadows but I think I ended up purchasing the rest of the line almost. I set my cart up two days before the sale started and kept checking the site then one of my friends came over and we added a bunch more make up. I think the total was well over $500 and after the sale prices kicked in it went down to less than $300. I was so excited. Besides the shadows I got a concealer and their cream contour kit. I almost got foundation but I have so much already it didn’t make sense too. The night of the sale I opened up the page and refreshed and it crashed immediately. It took me about 20 tries and more than 45 mins to complete the purchase. I ended up losing one shadow but I got everything else. I checked back in the morning and all the shadows were sold out. Pure insanity!
This was nice of you to put together, Christine!! Very nice! This is the lowest I’ve seen ABH shadows (I don’t have a pro discount at IMATS), but they’re ALL SOLD OUT!!!! I could have cried on Friday morning (3am-6am EST)! They’re doing the restock now at the same price which is nice, but the still don’t have most of the shades I want. I don’t mind waiting for that price, but why couldn’t they have gotten them ALL restocked?? I haven’t seen Pink Champagne on their site in months. I bought a backup of Self-Made JUST for Pink Champagne & Treasure, so I have it at least.
I also unintentionally got a backup of the Mario palette bc they took forever to send the ship conf, & I’m not a huge fan of it… I need to do a giveaway on my measly little insta account or something lol cuz I sure don’t want it.
