Burberry Gold Shimmer No. 28 Complete Eye Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Gold Shimmer No. 28
Burberry Gold Shimmer No. 28 Complete Eye Palette ($60.00 for 0.19 oz.) is a new, limited edition palette for the holidays. It contained a “cooler” gold, medium gold, soft bronze, and brighter, golden bronze.
I expect that this palette is going to work best for someone who likes more mid-tone shades and does not want a lot of contrast–and someone who loves more shimmery finishes and does not expect a matte shade in their quads. The palette performed fairly well with good pigmentation, blendability, and decent to good wear; the only issue I had was that the texture felt a bit dusty at times.

Gold Shimmer #1
Gold Shimmer #1 is a light-medium gold with subtle, warm undertones and a soft, frosted sheen. The pigmentation was perfectly opaque, while the consistency was soft, smooth, and blendable on the skin without being too soft or too firm in the pan. It wore well for eight hours before fading on me.

Gold Shimmer #2
Gold Shimmer #2 is a medium gold with warm, yellow undertones and a frosted finish. This shade is a bit darker but significantly warmer compared to the first shade, though they are more similar than not! It had good color payoff with a lightly dusty, but smooth and blendable, texture that sheered out a touch on bare skin but would work just fine over a primer or base. The color started to fade after eight hours on me.

Gold Shimmer #3
Gold Shimmer #3 is a medium, golden brown with warm undertones and a frosted finish. It had mostly opaque color coverage, but the dustier texture made it more prone to sheering out without some sort of base or primer for it to adhere to. Aside from the dustiness, the texture was blendable and finely-milled, so it sat well on the skin. This shade wore for just over seven and a half hours on me.

Gold Shimmer #4
Gold Shimmer #4 is a brighter, medium golden bronze with warm, orange undertones and a pearly sheen. The pigmentation was fully opaque, and it had a firmer texture compared to the other shades, but it wasn’t difficult to get color out of or blend out on the lid. The eyeshadow lasted for eight hours before fading noticeably on my eye.

I love burberry eyeshadows ! I think that the quality is really good 🙂
Awesome!
I have this palette. It gives my NC30/NC35 skin just enough brightness and works as a highlighter. I love your eye look!!! I’m going to try it out 🙂
Glad you like yours, Cherie!
I swatched this in store, and think your review is spot on. Thought the colors were pretty, love the golds (which could double as highlighters for me) but like you said, not much contrast as the shades are kind of similar and blend together, but nice if you want an eye look that goes with everything, esp. bolder lips. And the Burberry formula is hit or miss on my super oily lids. Pale Nude shadow holds up nicely, but I had to return a gray/black smoky eye quad and a blue shadow (sheer, patchy, faded), although neutral shades tend to perform better. I will re-swatch in store and think about it
I wish there was at least one deeper shade in it!
That is true. I’ve had that issue with other palettes. I have dark spice and mocha which work well for me, but I did not like their gray and the blue was big no-no for me. To me this is very much a brightening palette and has a nice soft golden look. Perfect for work.
Very pretty but little too warm for me to plunk down the cash.
Totally understand! 🙂
I bought this on a whim and agreed on the dustiness – I use a primer which does help. I found it shimmery but still subtle enough to wear to work – especially, as you note, there isn’t too much contrast in between shades. It also looks nice for a nighttime look, especially if you blend in a darker (I use black) shadow in your outer corners!
Glad that primer helps! I can see it working well with a black eyeshadow!
This looks good on your skintone, and would also work on someone of my daughter’s depth at NC25-30. However, on me it would virtually fade right into my current NC37 skintone as if I just had glowy, shiny eyelids, I fear!
It gets a little lost on me (IMO), so I imagine it would be even more muddied on NC37!
It’s nice but a bit basic. I love Burberry blushes and lipsticks, I think they are great value for money in the high end price point, not so sold on the quads.
I love a good gold shadow BUT there does need to be a tad more contrast in the shades. I think that on your eye lid the colours would look pretty much the same. Beautiful eye look Christine.
This all looks a bit too bland and “nothing” for me to lay out that much moolah! As you said, Christine, a bit more contrast/variation in the colours might have been nice – one darker brown, for example. If I were splashing out on a Burberry quad, I’d want to get something like Smokey Brown or Dark Spice from the regular line – they just have a bit more “oomph) and for $64, I want some “oomph” which is why I passed on Chanel’s Tisse Mademoiselle quad…looks pretty and soft and neutral and soooo almost invisibly neutral which is quite a criticism coming from Mrs. Queen of the Neutrals!
I think a lot of people will love this one. I do like a little more contrast between the shades in a palette, but the shades being so like each other will make it very easy to use. I think it’s very pretty, but I do have a lot of gold eyeshadows (and nailpolishes) so I’m going to pass.
I do love the look you did.
What a beauty!
I have a thing for gold eye shadows . I rarely meet a gold eye shadow palette that I didn’t love, lol.
