It’s a new, limited edition highlighting powder described as a “luminous gold.” There is a strong, glittery overspray that sits on top of the powder, and while I did my best to brush it off, it took a few uses for it to really go away and reveal a more pearly finish. The initial glitter makes the finish more over-the-top with visible glitter particles that sit on the face without adding luminosity (they can look like dirt, if the light doesn’t hit them right!). To the touch, the powder had a drier consistency and didn’t feel finely-milled. I think it looked better on the skin than one would expect from the swatch, as the shimmer is softer and more luminous once blended and buffed into the skin. It had good pigmentation, and the color wore for just over eight hours before fading.

Thanks for posting a photo of it without the overspray! I loved all of Burberry’s previous limited edition cheek releases, but this one just looked really odd with the gold and then silver overspray. It almost looked like a corrupted photograph to me! I can safely say I will skip this, based on your review.
No problem, SHeila! And this one was REALLY hard to brush away, because the glitter didn’t want to get off the powder.
Loved the eyes ….
am eager to know your top 5 current favourite highlighters …
pls bring back that Fav Five ASAP
I will try to soon! 🙂
Yes please! Would love the favourites back! Such a great help amongst all this offer we nowadays have! I don’t know which way to turn…
Please comment on the Mac Diwali collection, if you haven’t already! The best impression is always one, from whom the collection is most culturally relevant. Thanks, Rashmi.
I’m a sucker for yellow gold highlighters, but this is too pricey for me! I’m glad to see Becca Prosecco Pop listed as a dupe because I have it in one of the champagne splits
Phew! You’re covered!
I have it but I’m not a fan of the chunky overspray 🙁
Me neither 🙁 The underlying powder is a lot prettier on the skin, but it’s tough to get all the glitter off of it!
I need another LE highlighter like a hole in my head but the textile theme really speaks to me. Not that I could use this shade either. 😉
Haha! I hear you. So many gold highlighters!
Yeah, still trying to figure out to whom I will give the ‘mistake’ Taraji highlighter to….Boy, are there a s…ton of gold highlighters.
I hate when companies overspray with glitter. I feel like I end up wasting so much product just getting the glitter off! This is too warm for me I think and I am not sure how it would look over my very cool undertones. At the price point with the overspray, this is an easy pass for me.
Same here, Deborah! It’s so messy 🙁 My floor is all glittery!
It’s really beautiful to look at, and I love how it looks on you, Christine. Does it smell like the blushes or the original illuminating powder? I loved the scent, however I know most people would prefer it unscented!
Hey!
Took me awhile to remember to go smell it again, but no scent to me at all!
It sure looks pretty but what’s the deal with the overspray? For $65 I’d expect that sparkly stuff all the way through it. Oh well, I guess I’ll hang on to my $65 !! (ha-ha.)
It’s actually more annoying than a normal overspray, because it’s SO glittery compared to the powder itself.
It actually looks very nice applied! But not $65 dollar nice. Oh well, I have way too many highlighters that I had better use up before adding anymore that are not unique to my collection, eh? ?
It is a pricey one, but it is definitely dupable by more affordable products!
It’s not as yellow as the Tom Ford night bloom powder, but still too yellow for my taste and skin tone. Seems like it would be a nice option for warmer tones. Can we have a rant/rave about oversprays?!
LOL! I will try to remember when I do Rant & Rave next!
I agree about the rant/rave. Although something tells me that thread would be all rant and no rave. I hate oversprays so much. SO MUCH. I want to see the product I’m buying, not a weird layer of useless product that doesn’t represent what I’m spending my money on.
This packaging reminds me of the Revlon “Floral Affair” blushes from oh… 10+ years ago? I still have mine, ha!
Blast from the past!
The design on that compact is so beautiful that I don’t think I could use it. For $65.00, I wouldn’t buy it either.
No need to worry about using it or not then, haha!
I LOVE this! I’ve had mine since mid September and I’ve worn it nearly everyday. I’m so pleased that it’s gold and not another rose gold or “peachy” shimmer.
I’ve been buffing it into my cheeks before using blush and although I don’t notice a big difference, I kinda like that it makes my blush seem more luminescent.
I was confused by the addition of the “eye brushes” included in the envelope, but after some research I discovered that it can be worn with their new “eye/face glitter” as an accent. That I haven’t tried as of yet, since I bought the black glitter and found that the glitter can shift downwards & appear like makeup spots or worse yet- nasty skin problems!!
Otherwise, I’m pleased with the look it gives me for daywear. More subtle and so Burberry.
Happy to hear you’ve been enjoying yours so much, Trish!
Is the glitter they have just loose glitter?
Yes Christine, it’s loose glitter and it sticks like crazy when first applied near your lids- or cheeks. But it drifted within the hour for me and it seriously looked like tiny black spots that you could see a mile away. I got the black glitter and perhaps that’s the problem. I liked how it looked on the models for the runway show, but something was lost in translation that’s for sure!
Now the Ruby Glitter nail polish is neat. It’s a sheer black base with the ruby red glitter in it. I wasn’t sure at first if I liked it- but I’ve gotten plenty of compliments and since I wear a lot of black clothing, this polish is perfect without being too loud.
I think I should have skipped the glitter and doubled up on the nail polish. Hope this helps!
This is a really pretty powder, minus the overspray. It seems like the extra glitter was more for cute packaging design purposes than contributing to the formula, which is only annoying since it seems to get in the way of using the actual product. :/
Pretty much! 🙁
Looks better without the overspray!
It does!
With the overspray, it’s very pretty. Not so much without it. It’s too yellow for me.
Gotcha!
While the glittery overspray can make a product look prettier, or gaudier if you don’t like the sparkle, I really dislike it because you can’t tell what the product would ultimately look like, and it can be very messy to remove. It’s also rarely clear if it is overspray or part of the product that goes all the way through.
Yep – it is messy to remove and can take a few attempts to really get all the glitter away!
It looks nice applied, but I do not need a new highlighter, I think I’m set for life 🙂
I sometime wonder how many are fooled by the oversprays. What a disappointment when it wears off! Of course as it’s quite common these days most everybody probably know.
See, I’m almost doing the rave and rant already.
Interesting how glittery the compact is in the photo after you brushed off (most of) the overspray.
I do, too, Helene! They can look SO different when the overspray is gone!
I usually always love most everything Burberry but I don’t like this one at all. I love the way you look in the photo Christine.
Thanks, Maria!
This product was very off setting on the skin with the over spray! Can’t want to get rid of the over spray so I don’t have glitter setting on the face!
Take a separate brush and brush away the overspray first 🙂
Thank you for this review, Christine. I bought this palette mistaking it for the Burberry Nude Gold palette from Spring/Summer collection 🙁 Hated the chunky glitter! Do you think after the overspray glitter is gone, its base colour would look similar to Nude Gold when worn (not swatched) on the skin? Thanks!
I don’t think so! 🙁 Nude Gold is darker and less yellow.
