You know…even though yes, the colors are all dupable and I probably have all those colors in my Naked palettes (I own all 4 big ones) this looks like such a convenient travel case where it has everything you need and you’re good to go, no need to bring a bunch of products. And I LOVE the colors in this palette. Man, MJ, wish it wasn’t $70.

It’s pretty, and would be convenient for travel. Looking at it, however, I know I have dupes I’m happy with for every single offering in that palette.

Is everything is starting to look the same? Or is it me? The game is changing for me anyway. Since so many offerings are similar (I don’t do bright eyeshadows) it’s all being reduced to quality of application, duration, and effect on me. I have to say I’m getting less and less tempted by eyeshadow offerings. Then again, I’m not above saying, this too may change. 🙂

Yes! I’m also really not inspired lately by makeup (although I’ve seen some sneak peeks of the Guerlain holiday collection, and that’s really pretty). It seems that there a ton of new releases all the time, but nothing really that unique. I’ve got MUFE eyeshadows that are excellent, the Naked ones which I like, a Marc palette which is great….and I just don’t see much else that I need. Does that mean my collection is complete? lol.

I don’t think it’s just you; it’s all starting to look alike to me too.

Honestly, I don’t know how much better than everything else I already own this would have to be, in order for it to justify the high price tag. As it is, I already have a small travel palette with six neutral eye shadows (the shades aren’t spot-on identical, but very similar), blush, bronzer, and highlighter that I’m very happy with, that I paid about $12 for. And it’s more than good enough quality to keep me happy using it.

I’m with you… To me, so far I’m not finding much that’s holiday-ish, that would inspire me with products to play with in the sparkly season. And, my collection of all products is pretty complete plus some these days. I’m sure I’ll pick up a little shimmery something to be in the season, but so far I think it’s as likely to be a single item or two than a collection.

You’re not the only one! Nothing I’ve seen in the Holiday collections so far is really tempting me – except for the Guerlain collection but I’ve only seen a couple photos. Everything IS starting to look the same. I wonder if this impression is caused by the sheer amount of new products that are launched each month nowadays. There’s so much new stuff all the time that new doesn’t even feel new anymore. Call that new product fatigue?

Hi Lulle,

You said — “There’s so much new stuff all the time that new doesn’t even feel new anymore. Call that new product fatigue?”

That is EXACTLY it! Couldn’t put my finger on it, but that is my sensation. Enough already with the same neutral color simply configured differently, and highlighters by the thousands. Lipstick fatigue is catching up too. Nothing seems special at the moment.

It’s as though the makeup execs are sitting in their bubble responding in fear to what everyone else is doing, and by extension diluting the entire experience. There is no end in sight, I’m sure.

I’m with you on that sentiment too Lulle. I definitely am having some new product fatigue this “holiday” season already haha. The fact that it’s earlier every dang year and also, there’s more and more every year as well, it’s just too overwhelming to the point where you stop caring as much.

NancyM Avatar

Linda, et al, I totally agree. The Sephora sale will be in November, but other than stocking up on skin care, I can’t think of a dang thing I really need.
I may get a palette case for my Surratt blush, but that’s about it.

Beautiful palette ! Only one I’m not crazy about is that hot pink blush eehhhh :/ will have to see he palette in person to see if I will make good use of it cuz good lawd that price tag !

After Marc Jacobs’ behavior regarding their NYFW show/defense of thus on social media, I don’t think I’ll be purchasing any of his products any time soon.

Tamara Avatar

This is such a pretty pallette, but why does it have to have hot pink blush? That would look terrible on me. I guess I have enough shadows that are similar, though. Money saved.
