One Way to Win
Leave a comment on this blog post tell me what eyeshadows you’d pair with Nocturnal!
I just bought the Leopard Luxe eyeshadow quad, so I’d definitely give Nocturnal a spin with that!
I’d pair it with greys, pinks, purples, maybe blues.
I wear winged eyeliner every day, so experimenting with different colors of eyeshadow is one of my favorite things to do so I can add interest to my everyday look. I have two eyeshadows that I’m especially excited to mix with it: Nars cream eyeshadow in “Udo,” a silky light lavender color, and Loreal HIP loose eyeshadow powder in “Striving,” a very dark shimmery turquoise color.
I would keep it simple and just put bare study paint pop so that the liner is the key focus on the eyes 🙂
I’d use a navy blue or gold
I think I’d want to pair this with a dark purple eyeshadow
i’d pair it with black tied for an evening look!!
I’d use this with a super dark black smokey eye, maybe with a gorgeous blue into the crease.. atlantic blue, or freshwater 🙂 vellum would make an awesome inner corner/brow highlight!
I’d pair with mauvement!
a super neutral matte color swept all over the lid so the eyeliner can be the main focus
i’d pair it with satin taupe too. its such a pretty neutral colour that would look amazing with this :).
I think I would pair Nocturnal with Electra, Knight Divine and a little bit Carbon in the outer v.
I’ll probably wear it with grey e/s, Smoke & Diamonds or Sweet Sienna with dark color in the crease.
I would pair this with UD’s Gunmetal on the lid and Kiddie Pool in the crease to recreate the Naked palette look you created. I wore the look twice so far with Kiddie Pool instead of Half Baked, as you suggested as an option, and got so many compliments. Thanks. I think Nocturnal would look great with the look too.
They go with almost everything, but i’d use with a dark black or navy blue smokey eye.
Hi! I’d pair it with mac honey lust eyeshadow, or purple haze (This one is my favorite of all times, I can mix it up with anything =] )!
I would rock it with a deep purple lid darkbrown or black outer corner and ivory highlight.
I would do a simple black smokey look and then use this on top for a pop!
I’d pair it with Quarry,Tete-a-Tint and Blackberry OR Brown Down.
Definitely golds and bronzes. Amber Lights, Tempting, Woodwinked, Coco pigment, Tan pigment.
I would pair Nocturnal with black or even a navy e/s and do a winged line with the Nocturnal.

oh my gosh this liner is so gorgeous 🙂 i swatched it in my local store. 🙂
i would pair it with a very dark (black) smokey eye. 🙂 and then use it as a pop of colour on the upper lash line 🙂
i really think i would wear these beautiful eyeliners almost alone only with a champagne coloured e/s just for a higlight… but especially nocturnal i think would also look great with a neutral grey e/s,or evn a metalic e/s for a smokey look using eyeliner only to my upper lashline
I would pair it with Allthatglitters.
I’d pair it with a nude shimmery peach eyeshadow and pink lipgloss
I’d pair it with a very deep matt blue or purple eyeshadow
I would pair Noctural with a dark blue or black eyeshadow.
I would wear Nocturnal either dotted on black liner with bright colours, like Midori on the lid and Perfect Plum (both Sugarpill) in the crease,
OR with smokey eyes to add that little extra.
I would use black tied to make it dramatic but still pull in the sparkle!
A fun bright colored eyeshadow look!!!
I’d pair it with a very dark smokey eye or a more subtle smokey eye.
I’d pair Nocturnal with Smoke&Diamonds by MAC
I would pair it with Plum Dressing, Handwritten and Mylar.

Nocturnal is such a gorgeous, silver – white color with some hints of an off blue.
I would have to say that it would look fabulous paired with too faced’s rich b**** eyeshadow.
http://www.amazon.com/Too-Faced-Duo-Eyeshadow-Bitch/dp/B000RWJ2XW
The white would look dazzling on the bottom inner water line to make your eyes seem more bright while the blue and light yellow – green eyeshadow make the eye a bit smokey and light as well.
Perfect match.

I also think it would go good as a top and bottom liner paired with the maybelline Chai Latte eyeshadow quad.

I would probably do silvers, dark greys, beiges and browns..
i would wear with brule and arena… my go to colours 🙂
I would wear it with a neutral like shroom or naked lunch.
I would definitely pair this with satin taupe and espresso from MAC!
i would say bright fuschia, your eyes will really pop with the color and it goes along well with the liquid liners.
Hmm…so many possibilities! I’d love to play with this and the UD naked palette.
id pair nocturnelle with purples, soft browns, maybe a hint of cranberry..
I’d pair it with grey eyeshadow
They go with almost everything, but i’d use with a dark black or navy blue smokey eye.
I’d wear it with purples 🙂
MAC Grape Pigment as a base and draw snowflakes with Nocturnal liner
I’d pair it with a neutral brown e/s look.. I love subtle e/s with bold e/l… so nice
I just bought Nars persepolis eye shadow duo and I think this would go nice with this duo. Persepolis comes with a seafoam green and bright blue. 😀
Hmm… I’d probably wear it just by itself, with maybe a wash of sheer champagne/gold shadow.
A nice neutral shade!
i’d pair this with black eyeshadow for a simple but exciting night look
I’m dying to get my hands on this one. I think I’d pair it with a dark smokey eye – mostly carbon on the lid, blended out in the inner lid with something like White Frost or Electra. Or a dark smokey purple, with carbon and entremauve pigment.
Honestly I’d just pair it with some low key neutals veryvery close to my skin color, and just a slightly darker brown to add depth. I’d use nocturnel as liner on the upper lash line, and for a cat eye 🙂
definatley a neutral colour, so it stands out!
I would pair with a very sheer matte lightgray and maybe some warm purplelish wine color on the crease.
Contrast and Crystal.
Mac’s Electric Eel and Carbon
I’d pair it with black or purple
I’d pair it with navy blue shadow!
Indigo Shimmer eyeshadow Bobbi brown..
Nothing too specific, but a nice rich, dark shade.
Electric purple eyeshadow
i’d pair it with browns and coppers to bring out contrast; like all that glitters in the lid and bronze in the outer corners and woodwinked in the crease
I’d pair it with All that glitters eyeshadow from MAC.
I’d pair it with turquoise
This would look amazing with the Tarina Tarantino Starchild Odessey palette. The purples have some silver undertones and the teal is a great complimentary color. Sticking to the MAC line, aquadisiac.
I would pair it with purples, Greys, or blues but it us such a beautiful color alone that I could probably keep it simple so that people can see the true beauty of the liner without any distractions 🙂
Grey and black ones for a nice smokey eye. 🙂
Or I’d use it under my bottom lashes to give me a wide-eyed look.
I would pair it with frosty blues, like MAC deep truth and freshwater!
I want to try it with kitten, and lots of black mascara
I would wear it :
with a dark black smokey eye and set courses with a kind of silver eyeshadow the Eyeliner would perfectly match.
(Scene mixed with Blanc Type ,Typographic mixed with Black Tied ,Black Tied)
or I wear it with a Blue smokey eye that looks like sky by night and the eyeliner would be like the stars on this wounderful sky.
(Gesso, Deep Truth, Nehru everything paired with Plumage in the eyelid Crease)you could although mix some more very dark purple in it that it looks more like the blue midnight sky.
I would pair it with Allthatglitters eyeshadow!
I would wear a black eyeshadow with gray for a smoky eye look i believe it would look fab
a super neutral matte color swept all over the lid so the eyeliner can be the main focus
I think I would pair it with a shimmery white or with Satin Taupe. It would look gorgeous:)
I’d pair it with good ol’ MAC Carbon
Personally I’d pair this eyeliner with a dark grey or black smoky eye (Scene/Print/Knight Divine/Carbon…)
To me this would go great with your basic smokey eye. If I were feeling really fun and out there I might even do it with a blue or turquoise look.
Hi Christine,
I’d match this eyeliner with a subtle gray smoky eye!I’d use:
MAC scene
MAC dazzlelight
MAc carbon
I really can’t imagine till I try it!
I would pair it with electra and silver ring
I’d pair this with a deep purple or a muted grey shadow. I wouldn’t want something over the top for the shadows because this is such a lovely liner, I’d want it to be where the eye is drawn
just black, MAC’s carbon
I’d wear it with Bobbi Brown Pewter eyeshadow!
Dark purple smokey eyes with a lilac duochrome in the inner corners!
Silver is easy to pair with almost every colour of eyeshadows, I’d prob use turquoise/ teal shadows with it
I’d try Nocturnal with greys, pinks, purples with winged eyeliner
Nocturnal would go amazingly well with my Chanel Smoky Eyes quad for a fun, metal look!
With Carbon & Satin Taupe – not sure what for under the brow? Would have to play around.
I would put Nocturnal with a silverthorn on the lid, texture in the crease, ricepaper as the high light, and plumage on the end with a touch of carbon to deepen and smoke out. That would be perfect.
smut&phloof
i would probably do a light blue smokey eye with a hint of silver and use nocturnal for eyeliner. light cheeks and nude lips.
I’d pair with a grey and a sky blue 🙂
I’d love to pair Nocturnal with a bright pink like Urban Decay Hot Pants or maybe even Too Faced Mess in a Dress!
Carbon and Satin Taupe !
I’m thinking a deep matte navy blue or maybe a dark pink!
i’m totally having some weird kinda writers block right now and can’t think of any exact shadows i’d wear with Nocturnal. i’m thinking a gorgeous deep purple would be perfect!
I would pair this eyeliner with a smokey eye look using top knot or carbon eyeshadow to really increase the dramatic look of the silver liner.
i would wear it with a dark smokey eye, maybe with dark soul and vex
I’d pair it with MUFE n°39, intense plum!! 🙂
I would wear it with expensive pink by MAC to tone it down since the eyeliner is very over-the-top.
I’d do a sparkly silver/black look using MAC’s Cinderfella mineralized eyeshadow, maybe Electra or something similar, and a matte black like Carbon or UD’s Perversion, with a neutral matte highlight like Brule.
I would pair it with silver. I think that will look nice 🙂
i would pair it with woodwinked and tempting….those are such beautiful colors
def a navy shadow
I’d pair it …hmmm, probably with a light sheer pink eyshadow in the lid and a really dark blue in the crease and Nocturnal to define the lashes and extended a little bit out. Simple but with a touch of color and wearble.
I would pair it with a smokey eye using the silver struck pigment
I’m too new to MAC to know all the names, but I’m thinking something mauvy or purple. Shadowy Lady quad? the new Pedigree quad?
I love these superslicks…. When I get some extra cash, I’m for sure gonna pick some up. I’d do it today, but the kids gotta eat LOL
maybe a lightly applied BE glimmer e/s?

Hmm, I’d pair Nocturnal with some matte dark navy eyeshadow… I think the contrast would be reminiscent of a starry night sky 🙂
I’d pair this with a blue eyeshadow
I would wear it with MAC’s Deep Truth!
For sure i’d go for smokey eyes look. I’d probably use my fave combo of purple and gunmetal shades from this one Tarte quad that i bought from sephora on sale. I LOVE those two shades, too bad there’s no name D:

Deep Truth by Mac
Just with silver or grey palettes (maybe for an smokey look?)

I would pair this with darker colors for a smoky look!!
Not sure, but I can’t wait to try it!
I would pair it with Satin Taupe and Carbon.
MAC Black gps and Cinderfella.
I would wear it with Shroom and Era, and make a thick winged line with Nocturnal.
I would pair it with MAC’s satellite dreams
purple eyeshadow
Probably with a neutral smoky eye.
i’d wear it with “Swimming” mixed with “Chrome Yellow”
I would pair it with my Urban Decay half baked eyeshadow. It blends in with my skin tone and leaves some shimmer to make the eyeliner pop.
Satin taupe for sure!
I would pair it with red eyeshadow for ultimate fierce-ness!
I would pair this eyeliner with satin toupe!
with a sexy smokey dark eye makeup look!
I would love it with a dark blue smokey eye, especially with plumage!
I would wear it on its own with heavy mascara & smolders liner in the waterline
I’d pair this to a black smokey eye and put this on the lower lash line
I’d pair it with grays!
A purple smokey eye!
I would do a gunmetal grey smoky eye (Blackground paint pot as a base, Silver Ring e/s all over, Black Tied in the crease, Phloof! as highlighter on the brow and inner corner of the eye), smoke out the lower lash line and waterline, and then put this underneath – I think the silver would make the whole thing really pop!
I would wear it with pinks
I’d use gold and green shades and go for a “forest frosted in silver” type of look. Gold on the lid as a base, green on the outer third of the lid and maybe a dark brown in the crease and then nocturnal as the finishing touch.
I’d definitely use natural mattes with this
I’d use the UD Get Baked palette and put half baked on my lid with flipside in my crease. I’d use nocturnal to line and keep the blue theme going. I’d add a little twice baked in the outer v and under my eye smudge along the lash line.
keep it simple use notoriety eyeshadow and furiously fabulous eyeshadow then apply the MAC Nocturnal Superslick Liquid Eyeliner on top of your eyes and under just a thin line you dont want to look like you got a black eye
I’d wear a neutral shadow, like NARS all about eve or alhambra, and really let the liner shine!!
id pair this with tete-a-tint in the crease. brule on the lid. and vanilla eye shadow on the highlight areas. then use nocturnal as an eyeliner. & wing it. on the lips i would use smoked purple (:
You can put this with so many things. A silver smokey eye, alone, blue smokey……….
I would pair it a smokey Satin Taupe look!
Lately I’ve been attempting to tone down my oranges and greens, so maybe a champagne shade. Or fuschia…
Omg, I would wear it with everything! I’d love to see it with purple!
I would either go all out sporting a vivid blue and silver eye for a night on the town. For something more “subdued”, I would blend it with gray and charcoal shades, using Nocturnal for pop!
Something crazy like Gesso all over the lid with Deep Truth in the crease and on the lower lashes. I’d extend the Deep Truth along with the Nocturnal wing for a double liner look. Oooo, I can’t wait to try that!!!
Gesso all over, with Deep Truth in the crease. Deep Truth to liner the upper and lower lashes. And Nocturnal on top to form a double liner wing. Ooooo, can’t wait to try!
I will use it with smoke and diamonds 😀
I’d use this eyeliner on the lower lashline. For the eyes, I’d use purples – a bit of white in the inner corners, Parfait Amour on the lid, and Graphology on the outer corners.
Id wear two out the three: on on my upper lash line (silver) and the other on my lower lashline. Then wear mac gaga lipstick and some 7 lashes.
I’d pair it with purples
i would pair this with a bronzey color (:
I’d pair it with something neutral so the liner can shine by itself!

Yo los usaría con la painterly simplemente. O con una sombra del mismo color o mas clara y encima una buena linea!!! I love MAC!!
I would pair it with MAC Satellite Dreams and Beautiful Iris!
Winged with a smoky navy eye, or all by itself!
I would love to pair it wiht blues – i have this very weird blue-grey from Body Shop (number 9) and I would love to put it just in the crease with the liner – smoky but still good looking for someone as fair as me.
I would pair the Noctural eyeliner on the bottom lashline with Idol Eyes from the perm line, and Her Altar Image and Vile Violet from the Venomous Villains collection.
I’d use Electra!
I would probably pair this eyeliner with just a blue/red/brown eyeshadow as the eyeliner is the focus of the look.
An amazing eyeliner!
They go with almost everything, but i’d use with a dark black or navy blue smokey eye.
I love my eyes with just a little winged eyeliner and mac tete-a-tint in the crease to add a little depth. oh and cant forget a few swipes of loreal telescopic mascara!
I would use it with my dark purples, plums and blacks for sure! It would probably look great with my glittery greens too, which I am loving lately!

I’d just wear it alone with some mascara
I think it would look amazing with a grey smokey eye.

i’d wear it over a black shadow or liner.
With the palace pedigreed palette i just bought!
Thanks Tempatalia for the video review and blog. Since Im very new to makeup and MAC I left work last thrusday to see the line as it came out and was not overly impressed. Definitely keep the eyeshadow to a minimum and let the liner stand out on its own.

A pale shimmery white shadow from the lid to the brow with a little bit of sable in the crease
I would keep it neutral and use my favorite MAC eyeshadow of all time Naked Lunch. That way the main focus is on the eyeliner.

with two eyeliner colors…
first a very thick Nocturnal and a fine black on the top

I would put sharkskin shadestick on the lid topped with tilt eyeshadow and deep truth in the crease. I would line the top line with nocturnal to give it that light pop of silver.
Would be great with “Naked” Urban Decay Eyeshadow palette.
I tried this in-store and I’m really impressed, so I’m getting too many ideas. The first is an eye look that combines Silver Ring + Satin Taupe with Black Tied in the outer v (but BE’s new Buxom Black Lab would be perfect there too). The other thing I noticed is that everything in my Tarte holiday package from 2009 would look lovely with this eyeliner, and that’s about 36 shadows, so way too many to mention by name!
Alone or with neutral eyeshadows.

I’d pair it with Patina and Birds and Berries. Both from Mac of course!
I would pair it with a smoky eye look to give it that extra pop!!! The colors I would use for the smoky eye would be carbon, black tied on top of that and print or knight devine just a little above the crease to finish it off!!!
I’d wear a nude minimal eyeshadow look, then add this as a pop of color.
I’d pair it with something teal
Any kind of black velvety eyeshadow.
I tried Nocturnal yesterday at the store and it’s gorgeous even on its own. But I’d pair it with some dark shadow like gray, or dark blue – smokey eye look. The silver would give a twist to the smokey look!

All over the lid as a base, or do a cat eye with the liner with a nuetral color so it is the main focus!
I would do a dark smoky eye using Carbon and Typographic as the main two colors – and White Frost to highlight. I think that would be a rather interesting look to use with Nocturnal.
I’d go for bare lids maybe just a wash of Vanilla e/s and a bold line of Nocturnal.
With the Urban Decay Naked Palette.. especially with Creep in the crease and Naked on the lid or with Creep and Gunmetal for a silver smokey eye 🙂
I actually would wear it alone or would pair it with a black gel-liner, a nice wearable extra for everday, and when it comes to e/s I’d definitely pair it with a more neutral-/skin colour looking e/s 🙂
I wanna try these so bad….I wonder how they compare to the Artliner…. the colors are gorgeous
I would either wear it with a flesh tone primer or purple or gray eyeshadow.
