Ahh, Rouge G — I Still Love You

Guerlain Galante (09) Rouge G Lipstick ($46.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a slightly brown-tinged, plum-kissed pink. Sephora describes it as a “rosy plum,” and I see the plum, but I also feel like you can’t not say there’s some brown in there, too. It’s a shade that’s difficult to describe. Not that that really matters, because it’s such a beautiful shade.

Every time I apply one of the Rouge Gs, I am reminded of how amazing the formula is. It’s soft, smooth, and moisturizing while delivering rich color in a whole slew of universally flattering shades. Galante has this subtle light rose pink micro-shimmer that dazzles and shimmers in the light in such a lovely way. I love the way they feel and wear–I get anywhere from three to six hours, depending on the shade. With a shade like this, I usually hit the four or five hour mark.

Guerlain’s Rouge Gs are scented with fragrance, so if you’re sensitive to scents, you may want to stop by and give it a whiff before committing $46 to it. I don’t notice it when I wear it, only when I smell the tube itself, but I’m not bothered by it either way. I still have a secret wish that they made the Rouge G formula available without the fancy case (which is truly fancy with its substantial weighty feel and flip mirror), just so the price wouldn’t be as high.

It kinda reminds me of Chanel Rouge Allure Incognito… it’s a really nice colour and my ‘nude’ lipstick 🙂 this looks gorgeous on you!

I’ve been craving a Rouge G for a long time (I don’t own any), but I was waiting to fall head over heels for a color. I think this is the one!

hmm, it looks pretty intense in your last picture but you mention that it goes on sheer – do you think it’s pigmented enough to show up on a darker skinned girl?

This is just a gorgeous, gorgeous color on you, Christine! I almost did a double take when I saw it on you, ’cause you looked so stunning wearing that shade. 😀

i just bought this one 3 days ago and seeing how it looks in your lips now, really made me realize how a lipcolor can look different from one person to the other. This lipstick looked reddish brown on me.Its really pigmented and moisturizing and one of my fave lipstick at the moment. It doesnt make my lips dry and chapped…highly recommended.

You got me hooked on these lipsticks. I own three right now. I don’t mind the fragrance on these as much as the Chanel lipsticks. With both, the smell goes away after applying so that isn’t a deal breaker for me. I have Gil, Giulette (love love love) and Gentiane. I think I spelled them all correctly. These lipsticks really are amazing.

Beautiful! I’d call that colour cinnamon rose – it’s not quite brown, not quite pink, not quite berry but altogether lovely!

I LOVE this color and it looks especially gorgeous on you. I must try this one in store to see if it suits me because this is EXACTLY my sort of thing. Very, very tempting.

How is it that Guerlain can release a lipstick line (and a ridiculously expensive one at that) with SOOOOO many beautiful colours, shades and textures and make me want them ALL… and something like YSL Rouge Pur (or even the Rouge Voluptes) just look so flat and one dimensional and bleh? (that IMO only, sorry to all the YSL lippie lovers!)

Guerlain’s lipstick designer (is that even a job? If so, I want it!) is a genius.

Guerlain does lipstick color so well. I agree — Rouge Voluptes look rather one-note (and I do find a lot of the shades harder to wear alone). I would say Cle de Peau and La Prairie both do lip color similar to Guerlain. Chanel does lip color amazing well, too, but in a somewhat different way.

Very Flattering colour indeed. And wearable too. I could see a business woman or a lawyer doing this shade in court and look pulled together and confident without being in your face.

Lovely color and definitely something I could wear.
I really appreciate your lippies swatches, cause I always have a hard time in stores imagining what a shade looks like when worn (no way I’d try them on my lips). I often skip shades that kind of look blah and then have a revelation when I see them on your blog!
