Cle de Peau Extra Rich Lipstick Review, Photos, Swatches (T2 Just Joey)
Cle de Peau Just Joey (T2) Extra Rich Lipstick
Decadence in Nude
Last week, I shared Red Abundance (R2), one of eight shades of Cle de Peau Extra Rich Lipsticks ($60.00 for 0.14 oz.). This week, I’m sharing Just Joey (T2), which is a browned-tan nude with a little peachiness to it. It is completely opaque in just one stroke, and it delivers a beautiful soft glossed finish without shimmer. This would be a beautiful, upgraded nude on both cool and warm skin tones, but particularly so on warmer skin tones.
The Extra Rich line-up includes a total of eight shades: R1 Black Bacara, R2 Red Abundance, R3 Leonardis, R4 Danse du Feu, T1 Halloween, T2 Just Joey, T3 Baby Julia, and T4 Calliope.
The Extra Rich Lipstick formula is opaque, smooth, and easy to wear. I get between three and five hours of wear, even with more nude shades like Just Joey. It clings and hugs lips without being drying (but actually hydrating), but it is still a lovely textured lipstick. It’s just not this thick or overly creamy lipstick that slips around lips, but it doesn’t feel tight or heavy either. I’ve also found that it de-emphasizes the lip lines with the effect really settling in after about fifteen minutes of wear.
Price aside, is this a nude you’d wear?

I have been eying this lipstick ever since it came out but have held off so far. I have only one lipstick from Cle de Peau – Extra Silky lipstick and it doesn’t have much staying power at all unfortunately. You’re tempting me w/this one though! Is it really that glossy on its own? I am hoping it is.
Yep, that’s it all by itself!
Another beautiful color, but I couldn’t justify spending $60.00 on it. I’m sure some will disagree with me, but what ingredients could they possibly be using to feel it is worth that much money? At the end of the day, its just the name you are buying…and can anyone see the label across your lips? Nope, so I’ll stick with finding a dupe/something close in a cheaper brand.
No, I would not wear this shade. Very unflattering on me, but perfect on you. Looks lovely.
for me this nude is too peachy.. i wouldn’t wear it.. maybe on darker skin types (NC30+) it looks a bit better..
but well i don’t like this colour at all.. it’s very unnatural!
That looks gorgeous on you, Christine. Will you be swatching any pinks from the line? By the way, I really like the way you sometimes tie in your makeup with a headband. I love hair accessories, and co-ordinating them with my makeup is really fun!
Thank you, Frances! Not sure yet, but I’ll try.
I like the color, but I wouldn’t say it’s a nude. It looks like it leans toward coral.
Way too expensive for me..
Wow, I think this is gorgeous! I’m not one to cheap out on a fabulous lippie as I just sprung for 2 Rouge Gs, (thanks or no thanks, lol, to this blog) but I do think $60 is pretty over-the-top. Have you found anything a little less pricey that’s a reasonable dupe in terms of shade, pigmentation level and wearing time?
I haven’t found anything quite like it yet 🙁
That texture and packaging (and price) – how luxe! I’ve always wondered how these compare to Beaute weightless lip cremes (which I’m guessing compare most accurately to the Chanel laques). I bet the red from this line, the glorious Chanel Dragon, and Beaute Masochist (VERY similar to dragon, but I hear it has an even MORE luxurious texture!) would make the comparison of the century! 😀
Can’t wear them – they completely tore up my lips 🙁 My lips were peeling and bleeding (not to mention my entire pucker was swollen and itchy) for a week after just doing *lip swatches* for the Beaute lip cremes. I would never use those again on my lips, unfortunately.
(I imagine this reaction is based a lot on whatever ingredient(s) used to “stimulate collagen.)
It’s been several months since I tried them, but I don’t remember being wowed while applying them initially. There are always certain products that you just get jazzed about right from the get-go, but it didn’t blow me away like the Rouge Allure Laques did (I fell in LOVE with the formula so much so that I rushed out and bought the other four shades the next day). This is not to say they aren’t/weren’t a good or great product had I been able to test them fully, but during the 20-30 minutes of lip swatching, my first impression wasn’t OMGOMGOMG! 😛
Of course, the aftermath kind of ruined the whole product line for me 🙁
Oh no!! That’s terrible!!! Sounds like some sort of allergic reaction to me, since this is the first I’ve heard of that happening to anyone. Yeek, that’s awful 🙁 Well, since I’m choosing between that and dragon for my luxe red lip, I better try them out in person first for sure! Thanks for the heads up, and I hope that never happens to you (or anyone else, for that matter) ever again!
Yeah, it was kind of like the ouch of a lip plumper (say DuWop, which was one of the worsts for me), except about 10 million times more, LOL.
I knew it was an individual reaction, but I didn’t want it to sway people to *not* try them purely based on *my* over the top reaction, so I chose not to review them.
I’m DYING to know what the black bacara one looks like. Any chance you’ll get that one?
Not sure yet!
Beautiful colors… but I don’t think I would ever pay that much for a lipstick, even if it ironed and walked the (hypothetical) dog.
Musttttt have this!!! BEAUTIFUL on you doll! ♥
