What was the last eyeshadow combination you discovered and loved?

I used a bunch of MAC greens (Gorgeous Gold, Swimming, Humid), but it was using Sumptuous Olive in the crease/above crease that was really pretty!

It’s a tie!
1.) Today’s look was, well, a bit of a copycat…but it looked gorgeous! Used Lorac Lt. Pink, MAC shades: Haux, Da Bling , Fig 1, and Indian Ink, with Nyx Jewel Slide-On liner on lower lashline, Marc Jacobs Blaquer to tightline upper, Essence black gel liner and Smashbox X-Rated Mascara.
2.) A wild purple double cat-eye cut-crease. Used MAC Vapour as a browbone and as a base for Sephora Purple Stilettos to cut the crease, used a blend of MAC Crystal and UD Bordello for lid shade, then drew and blended upwards Purple Stilettos, used UD Flashback to help blend it out more and to intensify it, UD Backlash to blend out harsh edges above the purple and to soften the outer lid, , added a black winged cat-eye with Essence Midnight In Paris ( my HG black gel liner), lower lashline Bordello inner lower lid, Flashback outer lower lid, lots of black mascara and my ever present MJ Blaquer tighline! Flatline for inner corner.

BITE Amuse Bouche Taro lipstick is a very cool, grayish lavender purple, so I paired it with some matching shadows in same color family
*City Colors Shimmer Shadow in Spring Fling over the lid and outer V
*MAC Foiled Shadow in Magic In Your Eyes on 2/3 inner lid – the strong sparkle gives life to my eyes, so I don’t look dead in these colors!

Bellini from the Sweet Peach palette with Candied Peach in the crease. Bellini is the most beautiful rose gold shade, I’m in love! I think I wore this combination for two weeks straight!

Just last night, I used the original Naked palette for the first time in quite a while. I wanted to use Toasted on most of my lid, with Dark Horse on the very outer lid and to deepen the crease a bit but I didn’t want either Sin or Virgin on my inner lid. As I had been searching around for ABH Legend anyway (it’s a lone 5th shadow so I’d put it in another palette and couldn’t remember where!), once I found it, I decided to use it for the inner third of my eye and it was just right.

Giving my MAC shadows some much needed love thanks to your post.

MAC Patina as an all over base top and bottom because the shimmer level isn’t too much for my hooded eyes and it makes all other shadows layered above take on a metal look without running too warm.
MAC Handwritten layered with MAC Embark smoked into outer corner, lower lash line, and blended into crease.
MAC Folie just above crease.
TFCB (too faced chocolate bar) creme brulee in inner third mobile lid.
Lined with GA ETK liquid liner in 02 a dirty gold.
Tightlined in black.
Lower water line in a pale light gold liner (08 Pearl) by EL.

I’ve just started playing with the Colourpop shadows I bought back in December. Amaze turned out to be a really beautiful lid color when paired with transition colors such as Mac’s Soft Brown and Anastasia’s Intense Gaze (World Travelor Palette). I deepened the crease with Colourpop’s Game Face, put the thinnest line of liquid black liner across the top lid, and finished with MAC’s False lashes mascara in extreme black. Very classic look!

I am really loving the Manny MUA palette at the moment. Sora as my transition shade, Artemis on the lid, Insomnia and Mars mixed in the crease and Luna is a highlight.

Urban Decay Cosmic on the lid (with glitter glue to adhere), Buck in the crease, and Becca Pressed Pearl on the inner corner plus thin black liner, tightline, and fluffy lashes. For the lower lash line, Buck on the outer 2/3 and Cosmic on the inner 1/3 with lots of black mascara. I love this combination for a glamorous but soft and kind of ethereal look, and it looks great with any lip color.

I recently combined a matte red-orange (think NARS Persia) with a metallic indigo purple (Urban Decay Frigid) by mistake and loved it!

I used cream shadows: bareMinerals BB Eyeshadow in Soft Linen to brighten the lid, but I felt like I needed something in the crease to add dimension, and I just went for Clinique Lid Smoothie in Currant Affair. It worked really well, blended perfectly, and emphasized the green in my eyes while remaining very “no-makeup”.

MAC Patina over the entire lid & lower lashline, Soba through/above the crease & to “smoke out” lower lashline, Orb as transition, random pearly white as inner corner/brow highlight, and Handwritten to deepen crease. Then I just added a thin line of black liquid liner on upper lashline, black pencil to lower waterline, and a coat of black mascara. I also used Bare Study Paint Pot as a base. Simple, yet sophisticated smokey eye, appropriate any time/occasion, and will work for just about anyone.

Soba is such an underrated shade! It doesn’t look very pretty in the pan, the “swatch* is even worse, but once applied to the eye, it magically transforms to something really beautiful!

I was playing around and used MAC Nylon as a Browbone highlight and in the inner corner, then MAC Expensive Pink on the lids, MAC Saddle through the crease (sheered out – not heavy), and then MAC Moon’s Reflection for a little pop of color. I really love how it turned out!

I use a basic four color combo every time. I switch up the look depending on the color of my outfit. (I’m so matchy matchy). Lol. I do a taupe over the lid to match my skintone as a base. Mac ricepaper always as a brow highlight. A chocolate brown for my crease. And, then Shiseido shimmering cream eye shadow in VI305 (violet shade). Just depends on what I’m wearing. Sometimes I focus on navy & cobalt. Sometimes a Mac silver with Mac knight divine. Coral & yellow. Turquoise & green. Sometimes teal. I really need to start incorporating some black eye shadow. I need to practice with that more b/c black is a little scary. Lol. Ooooh. I just hauled about seven of those reduced price refill Mac shadows. So I’ll be having fun with those as well. Excited….

I’ve been using the Makeup Revolution new-trals vs neutrals palette this spring. The coral colors are just perfect for all the spring outfits I’ve bought and the neutral colors go great with those splashes of color. It’s my first Makeup Revolution palette an I can’t believe how good they are.

I just bought one of their blush palettes but I saw they had many eyeshadow palettes that intrigued me. I don’t usually do palettes bc I find them limiting but I am not bored with these. I may just have to pick one of them up!

Trippytink Avatar

I really like mine, I usually wear Urban Decay shadows or Tarte. I wear the urban decay primer and the Makeup Revolution Palette lasted all day without having to touch up. I was highly impressed so I’ve ordered the blush palette now. Do they last all day too?

Jessica Avatar

I totally remember you rocking that combo, Christine!

I once saw a MAC girl wearing Free to Be (peach) in the crease, Gleam on the lid, Besutiful Iris on lower lash line, a red/violet on outer and inner corners and it was gorgeous! I have copied this look many times and love it every time:)

rose gold (lightly) on the lid, light taupe on outer third of the crease, blended towards center, MAC Shroom for brown bone. Jane waterproof rose gold eye liner outer 2/3 of upper lid. smudge a short dash of taupe on lower 1/3 of lid, black/brown mascara. Perfect for summer. Fast and light.

I recently discovered a lovely combination for a no-makeup/makeup look! A little Mac painterly paint pot as a base, groundwork pain pot all over the lid (I apply this two with my ring finger) blended with naked basics naked 2 on the crease just for a little definition, foxy in the browbone and venus as an inner corner highlight. A little mascara and Mac NC15/NW20 chromagraphic liner in the waterline and I’m ready to go!

The other day I used the cream shade from Dior’s Jardin over my lids, the beautiful teal shade on my lower lid. Suspect from Naked 2 in the crease and a touch of Verve. Because I have hooded eyes, the darkest shade I use has to be on my lower lid. I loved it.

By the way, Sumptuous Olive is such a divine shade.

I wanted to try an all purple shadow look so I used:
Colourpop Dance Party in the inner corner
Colourpop Dare in the middle
Colourpop leopard in the outer corner
Same placement on my lower lash line and black eyeliner on the waterline. I loved how bright and shimmery it turned out and my coworkers loved it too ?

Caroline Avatar

MAC Shale + Shadowy Lady. Like it when I want something else than my usual bronzy look (which is almost always MAC Patina + Brulé).

Megz Avatar

My favorite new smokey eye! Mac vex on lid, phloof inner corner, typographic to line and smudge, blended into copperplate in the crease. Buff a bit of UD mushroom in the outer third on top and it’s sooo hot, especially with a light pink or nude pink lip, like MAC please me!

NYX Ombre Brights. 16 gorgeous colors that you can keep bright and intense or blend into a more subtle finish. I love the yellow, orange, and green shades, but there are blues, purples, and pinks for those of you who like those cooler colors. Not a brown, gray, black, or white to be had here though.

BonnieBBon Avatar

I had this weird idea to mix UD Heartless liner with their fireball shadow. I put heartless on the lid over primer and smudged it out all over my lower lid. I just put fireball on top and one of the shades from my Gwen palette in the crease. The mixture of heartless and the pink shift in fireball looked really cool! I don’t have it mastered yet though. I know there has to be a way to make it look more “finished” or refined. I wish my idea had been more complete but oh well it leaves me something to play with when life lets me have time 🙂

Angie Avatar

i usually set my eyeshadow primer with either my powder foundation or my hourglass powder so i can blend easier

cream bisque for all over lid colour from nars l’amour toujours palette
colourpop wilshire (and if i want more gradient, i add mac soft brown) as transition colour
colourpop crenshaw in in the crease
mac brown script halfway in the crease and in the outer third
deepen everything with black truffle from the nars palette in the outer v
golden starlight in the inner corner
colourpop melrose on the lower lashline

tightline with black kohl liner (right now using mufe xl in m-10)
mufe ink liner. wing it.
marc jacobs velvet noir mascara (with the lash defining mascara on the lower lashline)

it’s distinctly orange-brown and sometimes i’d go ahead and add a bit of red into the look or use purple-blue/navy eyeliner to make it look a bit more fancy

I’ve been really into light blue eyeshadow and thick black liner for a 70s/Bardot inspired look. I’ve been putting MAC Clearwater Paint Pot on my lid, the light blue from the MAC Pastel x9 palette on top, Soft Brown and Saddle in my crease and KVD Tattoo Liner in Trooper. MAC 35 lashes are always my go-to, but I just discovered Battington Lashes in Harlow and they are amazing
