I don’t really wear lipgloss. Don’t like them if they are too sticky or too slippery and floppy. Don’t like if they are too drying.
Haha that word should be GLOPPY. Darn autocorrect. Lol. Maybe Gooey is a better word:)
I agree – I don’t wear lip gloss at all for your reasons too.
If I intend to wear it alone or with just lip liner, I don’t want it to be too sheer, or worse, gathering weirdly into my lip cracks or where my lips meet. And that’s a problem I’ve had with a decent enough amount of both lip glosses and lipstick, too. That migrating or bunching, whatever it’s called! It drives me to….eat it off my lips!!! If it’s going to happen, it will be like I mentioned, where my lips meet, or it may instead drift into the outer corners! My MAC, one Bite and Nyx don’t usually do these weirdnesses.
Very pigmented glosses that feather and bleeds are the bane of my existence — I’ve had them end up on my forehead. HOW.
Too sticky or/and bad smell.
Same as you! Stickiness, settling, feathering, no no no.
I think for me it would be anything that feathers a lot. I don’t mind a sticky gloss, but it’s not unheard of for me to experience feathering, and I will not purchase a gloss that I hear will do that.
Price. I don’t know why, and dog knows I spend my fair share of money on product, but I get very caught up in the price of gloss. I wear gloss alone more so than over a lipstick. I find it easier to touch up one or the other, but not both so while I love the looks layered, I hate the maintenance. Anyhow, gloss over 30 dollars Cdn makes me twitch.
I’m with you on price! I will very rarely pay more than $10 USD, LOL! I do wear it layered more often than not, though, and typically just go with a cheap, clear gloss (for special occasions, I *may* add some loose pigment for shimmer). I just find a clear gloss layered over a “drier” lipstick is less problematic for me than a pigmented gloss alone… I may as well go with a liquid lip color.
I also refuse to entertain the idea of a “matte gloss”. The definition of gloss is shine, LOL! If a gloss is matte, then isn’t it just a liquid lipstick…?
I believe a matte gloss would be an oxymoron! ?
If my hair keeps sticking to it!
I hate lipglosses with a passion. The texture, the sticky and stuck feel, the wet look etc, so if I buy a lipgloss if has to be pigmented, be able to be worn on its own, and be thick enough to not look wet but also not sticky. Also, glitter is a deal breaker.
To be honest, being a gloss is kind of a deal breaker for me. I am not a fan at all.
I love gloss! But, I do have dealbreakers: chunky, gritty glitter that I can feel when I press my lips (shudder), milky shades that gather in lines, and sticky tacky texture. I also tend to stay away from overly pigmented or bright glosses since it kind of defeats the purpose of and easy to wear and easy to apply product- which is why I prefer gloss over lipstick to begin with!
1) Has cinnamon oil in it (some plumping glosses). Cinnamon oil makes my lips itch like crazy.
2) Strong, unpleasant or perfumey scents/tastes that don’t dissipate.
3) Super-sticky and tacky. Thick gloss is fine.
4) Too runny and prone to bleeding.
5) Crappy applicators.
A disgusting/strong fragrance. Anything that is minty or tingles. I also hate sticky gloss as well.
First off peeling or any raised bumps on my lips as I do get dermatitis on my lips. Then I worry about stickiness or or any lip line issues.
Extreme tackiness, a super thick formula that doesn’t go on even, glosses that dry out my lips and the ones that are colorful in the tube but look completely clear on the lips (I already have a couple of those, and once you own one, you don’t need more!)
Um, the fact that it’s lip gloss to begin with? Hahaha … ahem … I’ll just see myself out.
When you put it on nice and then it pools in the corners of your mouth…
Yes I also don’t like When it is like glue
I am also very dissapointed When the colour Looks so Great in the Tube but on the lips it is just a sheer “no-colour” gloss.
A deal breaker would be a gloss with a gross smell. Like a chemical, plastic or a watermelon scent.
I very rarely wear lip gloss because they typically don’t last long before I have to reapply. Deal breaker when I do wear them is stickiness. Becca Beach Tint Lip Gloss formula is terrible – sticky and balls up on the lips.
1. Excessive stickiness.
2. Anything with a floral, chemical, or perfume scent. As with lipstick, a light scent of vanilla, fruit, chocolate, mint, etc is fine.
3. Odd texture. Everyone knows I’m not the least bit opposed to glitter or sparkle in almost anything, but when it makes the gloss feel gritty, just no. If the texture is more clumpy than smooth, that would be a “no” as well.
4. Streaky application in glosses intended to be opaque or semi-opaque.
Super deal breakers are overly sticky or tacky, something that’s very watery and starts to leak into the corners of your mouth and off your lips, feathering. It’s gotta stay, color or sheer.
Mint flavor or smell. Makes me feel like i have toothpaste on my mouth all day.
I’ll try anything, but the only ones I will wear again have just the right amount of pigment…not too much, not too little. Like many of you, I don’t want to have to maintain a layered look. so it’s either lipstick or gloss. For those of you who name money as your factor, if you’re willing to spend a little more, Chanel Glossimer hits all the sweet spots and comes in many beautiful shades. Not sticky, no hair in the gloss, no collecting in the lines, and just the right amount of color.
If it’s super sticky and makes you feel like your lips are stuck together, I really hate that. If the texture is weird or gritty, I don’t like that either. I don’t mind sheer or pigmented lipglosses depending on what mood I’m in or what I’m using it for, but I do like it to be noticeable. I usually wear lipgloss over lipstick but I like to wear lipgloss if I’m feeling lazy so I still want the colour to show.
I’m only just coming around to lipgloss (thanks to Tanya Burr’s line of lipglosses), as they all used to be quite tacky and I can’t stand the “stick to your hair” ones. I like them to stay put but not be sticky, which is a hard combo to find.
