SUCH A HAUL!!! I recently had two days in Tokyo and spent the entire time shopping for beauty, makeup, and fun stuff in general.

SKINCARE: Shu Uemura cleansing oil in 2 formulas, Kanebo Suisai cleansing pods, Etude House snail masks, LuLuLun sheet masks, various VECUA Wonder Honey hand creams and lip balm, Biore deodorizing wipes…I’m most excited about my sunblock: I always wear Clarins sunscreen, and in Japan they sell a “Rosy Glow” finish—it’s the same formula but with a pinkish luminance that’s subtle and lovely. I bought 6. There was also one with a blue-ish tint, presumably for whitening, but I passed on that one.

MAKEUP: Jill Stuart blush in 04 and a Forever Juicy Oil Rouge Sheer in 01 (Cranberry syrup)—I love the feel and how buildable the color is, I wish I had bought 10 of these!! Also got a Canmake blush in 03, and a Shu Uemura Sheer Shine lipstick in RD 164. Plus a few Dollywink and D.U.P. lashes—I selected the most natural-looking ones to test-drive on my tragic lashes. Also a couple of mascaras with no English label that came recommended by a local. Finally, 2 pairs of colored contacts, in violet and gold, just to play around with.

Plus random stuff like candy and snacks, fun tees, nail art stickers, and odds and ends that are just fun and adorable!

PLANS: hopefully beating jet lag

GENRE: horror

Lauren Avatar

I’m excited for all of it 🙂 Although part of me hopes I don’t love anything TOO much, because then if I want to replace it I’ll have to overpay some import site for more products!!

Haul: SO MUCH in the mail from a friend: Tarte Peach Palette, Morphe 350 palette, all 3 Kylie metallics + Mary Jo and Dolce.

Weekend plans: holding a Eurovision party at my house, and running a lot.

What’s your favorite genre for movies: umm.. scifi/fantasy movies!

Wish List: Jeffree Star Beauty Killer palette! Also want to pick up the discontinued Catfight color in the UD lipsticks.

Michele @Binxcat4ever Avatar

KJH – I know! OMG I made the mistake of trying to drink my coffee while I was watching it! Have you seen his “Easy Look” using the palette vid yet? I like the fact that he included base and transition shades as well as different finishes. I’m also going to try for a couple of his highlighters and his metallic lipsticks when they release.

Julia Avatar

Oh my goodness, are those puppy mittens? I can’t – too cute!! And he looks thrilled…. 😉

Haul: I thought I was going to go a week without getting anything, but I had to run an errand and ended up near an Ulta… and came back with UD Matte Temper and Matte Afterdark. A little out of my comfort zone, but I think it was a good purchase all things considered.
Weekend plans: Packing! We are headed to Sarasota on Tuesday for vacation.
What’s your favorite genre for movies: Tbh I prefer tv series, but I do enjoy comedies and many based-on-a-true-story films. We watched The Big Short last night and it was great. Really frustrating to think about, but great.

Lea Avatar

Haul: Pretty nominal I think; four shadows from Trish McEvoy (cream, lilac, burgundy and peach) to finish a planner page that was bothering me. Very limited selections though; makes me wonder if she’s reformulating. Also finally picked up The Glossier Balm Dotcom and Coconut Balm Dotcom. Definitely enjoying the coconut the most. Picked up samples of Derek Lam’s 10 Crosby in Elipsis, 2AM Kiss and Blackout, a small bottle of Raw Sauce (Korean serum) from the aisle of doom in Sephora and 2 Tom Ford rollerball perfumes Noir pour femme and Black Orchid. Going to have to re-examine my definition of nominal…..

Weekend Plans: Driving 7 hours to visit my in-laws and very adorable nieces for a long weekend.

Favorite Genre for Movies: True mystery/thriller or action, since the former doesn’t get done nearly well enough anymore.

Lea Avatar

I like them actually. I have mostly sheen finished with a matte and shimmer in for good measure. I had the page and four initial shadows for ages but never really reached for it – either because I tend to wear more shimmer finishes or just because it got lost in my horrible organization system. But I’ve been wearing more mattes/sheens lately with my LE Chantecaille The Glaciers trio and really liking how that looks. So I was inspired to finished the page (or whatever the proper term is) and try to put in rotation more. The shadows blended really well and provided good pigment without sending fallout everywhere. Especially nice since I was doing this at my desk at the office and the rest of my face was done. McEvoy isn’t a brand I’ve ever used a lot, but I could see doing another six shade page if she comes out with more options. There used to be so, so many colors so I’m positive she’s tweaking the formula or colors. That whole system is too centered around the planner not to have more shadow options.

Side note: I’m itching to pick up the Tarte Rainforest eye palette. I don’t have a ton of neutrals in my collection and as I said, not a lot of mattes. I’ve never used Tarte before for anything though. Would you recommend that palette as a jumping off point? I saw the complaints were more about being too neutral, particularly if you have a lot of good matte nudes already.

Lea Avatar

Thanks Christine. I’m still tempted to pick it up, but if you were going to recommend a cool to neutral palette that’s has either all matte or a mix or matte to sheen to shimmer as a staple, what would be your top choices? I saw a sneak preview of the Lorac Pro3 yesterday and that looks more neutral and Pro2 looks pretty cool-toned, but I’ve not used Lorac in ages either. I hear raves about it from bloggers, but I’d be curious of your opinion. I will search the site too to see your reviews of the Pro palettes.

Lea Avatar

I do prefer a firmer press/creamier formula with less fallout/dust, but can work with it if the pigment, staying power and blend ability make the clean-up worthwhile.

Lea Avatar

Thanks Michelle, I’ll do that. I’m trying to break out my habits and standard go-to’s. Do you have any other color suggestions to look for if they’re just tweaking the formula?

Michele @Binxcat4ever Avatar

I don’t think you can go wrong with any of her shadows. I also have the Glaze ones in Rose Quartz and Sugar Plum and the Define in Blackberry Granite and I’m happy with them. Aaron’s contact info is: Aaron Novotney | Online Product Specialist TRISH MCEVOY BEAUTY Neiman Marcus Online Available Monday-Friday 8:00-4:30 CST 972.556.4670. He’s very helpful.

Lea Avatar

Thanks again Michelle! I’ll have to pop out all my shades and see which ones I have exactly and then start a list. I will definitely reach out to Aaron and see if Hejaz any scoop. Christine and her readers are so helpful to each other, it’s great. I also love that there’s no trolling and judgement for those who prefer high end and luxe versus those who like indie and drug store brands. People are way to comfortable with anonymous vitriol these days; it’s nice to have a genuinely collaborative forum.

Haul: Too Faced Melted Fig last week during the 20% off Sephora sale here. My mum bought a bunch of philosophy stuff so lucky me got to try a deluxe sample of the purity made simple facial cleanser as well. My verdict is that it’s good, not as harsh as I feared; the Beautypedia review made it seem very irritating but it’s been good so far on my combination dehydrated skin. It’s been taking decent care of my breakouts on my forehead and jawline but I’ve been sleeping earlier and getting back into nutrition and hydration so it’s not necessarily due to the cleanser. DEFINITELY more effective than the Kiehls’ Ultra Facial Cleanser though!
Weekend plans: Partying with 2 groups of friends over the weekend as a lot of my friends are May babies! Bought one of them KVD’s Lolita and another Jeffree Star’s Redrum. Hope they like them, it’s fun when you’re buying presents for fellow makeup junkies (:
What’s your favorite genre for movies: Action/Sci-fi or animation.

Mellan’s thinking -the things I have to do around here for doggie treats!
*Haul – MAC Chris Chang Poesia cream base in Sock It Xiqu and lipstick in Plum Princess, UD Alice lipsticks in Mad Hatter and Time, Natasha Denona shadow in Cloudy Blue
*Weekend-friend’s birthday lunch, relax, it’s been crazy week
*Action movies!

Katherine T. Avatar

So far, I’m really loving Sock It Xiqu! Based on pan color, I was hoping it would be a light lavender purple, but it’s actually a light cool- toned lavender pink on me. On my hand, Sephora Over the Moon powder blush is a little pinker and Sock It Xiqu is a little more lavender, but on my cheeks, the difference isn’t much. Since Sephora Over the Moon has been so sadly DC’d, I’m happy to find Sock It Xiqu, and I can use both at same time to boost pigmentation and staying power on my blush-eating cheeks. I also like UD in Mad Hatter and Time. As for Plum Princess, yikes, I look either dead or like an extra from a zombie movie. Pretty color, but probably not for me. Haven’t tested out Natasha’s Cloudy Blue yet, but will soon. Much as I hate plunking down another $30 for a single shadow with cheap, flimsy packaging, Golden Rose has become one of my all- time fave colors, so I’m hoping Cloudy Blue will give it some competition, but we’ll see….

Katherine T. Avatar

Michele, UD Alice Time looks like a shimmery navy blue with dark gray undertones on me, definitely an edgy, vampy color, but I like it. I think the beautiful shimmer adds complexity and keeps it from looking dead. FYI, I have black hair, light/light medium skintone, and dark brown eyes. It doesn’t look anything like the dark purple- blue that I saw here. It does tend to streak, so I have to swipe it hard many times across my lips to get opaque coverage, and even then, a little bit of my inner lip still shows through, but it kind of creates an ombre effect that makes it more wearable. But if you don’t like that, you can add a lip pencil to make it 100% opaque. It mixes well with different lip pencils from Colour Pop (gray, black, purple), and I got some interesting colors, including a nice blue purple. You can also sheer it down by adding a clear lip balm. As for MAC Plum Princess, oh dear. It’s a lavender gray, and I think it’s a little too light and too gray, so it makes me look dead. I’m going to have to fiddle around with my eye shadow/blush/lip pencil to see if I can make it work, but I have a feeling it’s going to get returned. I think the only way I can pull it off is to mix it with a lip pencil or a purple gloss.

Michele @Binxcat4ever Avatar

Thanks Katherine! My hair was black for a lot of years then i got a bug to lighten it into medium brown with red…then i went to dark brown with red…then I switched to dark brown with violet…it’s basically back to just bordering on black (lesson: should have left it alone!) Time sounds really interesting based on your description – I esp. love the tips to transform the shade. I might just have to pick it up bc it sounds like it would be fun to play with! Sorry about Plum – I was going to suggest adding UD Bittersweet to it… 🙁

Katherine T. Avatar

Yes, because it’s has some translucency, it’s definitely a great lipstick for mixing to create different grays, blues, blue purples, and blacks. So instead of spending $25 on a blue-purple lipstick that you might only wear a few times a year, just use UD Time, add a purple lip liner from Colour Pop, and voila, you have it! And because UD Time has such complex shimmer, less chance of looking “dead” in these alternative colors. I also mixed it with Colour Pop Lumiere lip liner and got an interesting pink mauve gray.

Haul: some kbeauty face cream supposedly made out of ingredients similar to human breast milk (!!), a few different eye patches with tiny dermarolling-ish needles in them, and a mask that’s somehow magnetized and can be removed with a giant magnet that sucks the formula off one’s skin. And Dior Diorskin foundation to keep things a bit more normal.

Weekend plans: cooking something from Chrissy Teigen’s cookbook. Lettuce wraps?

Fav movie genre: rom-coms, I’m so predictable

KJH Avatar

Lmao about some of the k beauty stuff. Starfish is the new snail. Swear I’m going to put that on a tee shirt, but then the Asians might think I know what I’m talking about! Love that head sling to give you the perfect Vee face. Actually, the Asian/ K beauty routines make a great deal of sense. Going to scout out some snail, Konjac, and synthetic snake tomorrow, locally, and planning a trip to the ‘local’ (hour away) Aritaum w/ my bff soon. Will add it to Paula. Hear that dermarolling is somewhat painful

Jenny Cupcakes Avatar

Haul: I got my Milani Amore Mattallics. I’m wearing Matte About You and it’s delightfully retro.
Weekend plans: Getting ready to move cross-country in less than two weeks. We’re having a garage sale tomorrow and hanging out with my family on Sunday. Probably carry over the garage sale to Sunday, too. PLEASE BUY OUR STUFF, PEOPLE.
What’s your favorite genre for movies: Comedies and Documentaries

KJH Avatar

Love Mellan’s eye look. Does he use Good Mood? Reminds me of Petrushka, my old mal, who pestered me until she got makeup, too. Think she really liked the brushes, but she got high color in the eye dots and vivid blush. Real 80s bitch (literal meaning.) Seemed to embolden her, which she really did not need. Miss that queen of the known and unknown universe.
Haul: maybe S came today. Just the bronze favorites and Hourglass Mood Light primer, neither tried. U did not have the UD d/c’d Sheer Liar I was getting for a coworker, so had to order online there, too. Also got Temper, After Dark, on and LQ Eden. Some travel hair stuff in the volumizing formulas.
W/E: SSDW, except that I started a big lipstick purge. If you can’t smell, you have to taste, cut off the tops to check discoloration. If uncertain, I apply and/ or wear for a day. (Got temper bec some of the orange reds were hitting the trash) At least 15 from upstairs are gone. No climate control. The only real observation I have is that some of the GWP l/s went bad, when the l/s purchased at the same time did not. More than once. Wonder if they really do lesser mfg for gwps?
Genre? Probably mystery or thriller, but that’s small screen only.

Christine Avatar

It’s always good to go through lipsticks and cull if anything has turned. I hadn’t done that in awhile, but before I moved, I went through all my MAC lipsticks to get rid of duplicates and found one or two that had definitely gone off (I was surprised that was all, though, lol). MAC lipsticks smell amazingly still like vanilla many, many years later.

Haul: Repurchased an oldie, L’Oreal True Match in W1. Lately I haven’t been happy with my foundation routines (mixing up various cocktails to get a color match) and my go to formulas haven’t been sitting well or wearing well. I remembered the True Match being a good color match–it’s pretty pale, still just a tad dark but hardly noticeable, and actually has a rather neutral tone. I went off it a few years ago because it would get shiny after a few hours and I was into the matte look then. But now I like a little bit more of a dewy look so I’m liking it. And god it’s so easy–no mixing, no “warming up” the product, no grabbing three or four different bottles. Just pour some out, brush it on, done. I don’t even need to powder it (but I did go back to using silicone primers under it, just in case). It doesn’t stay matte, but it lasts really well in the sense that it doesn’t separate which is paramount to me. Fingers crossed it keep working.

Weekend: Helping my parents demo their kitchen for a renovation.

Movies: I like all kinds of movies, I have favorites in every genre. But, if I look at my all-time favorite movies, most of them fall into sci-fi/thrillers (Alien, The Thing, Jaws) or family dramas (Ordinary People, The Way We Were, Running on Empty). Two very different wavelengths lol.

Michele @Binxcat4ever Avatar

Poor sad face! So adorable though!
Haul:
Beautylish: Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick (I’m Nude and Celebrity Skin). I may try a lip contour using these two.

Bloomingdales (Ebates 15%): Sunday Riley Effortless Breathable Tinted Primer, Shiseido Synchro Skin Foundation (Neutral 2 – backup).

Groupon (Ebates 15% and $10 Ebates Incentive): NARS Soft Touch Shadow Pencil (Heat, Trash, Corcovado, and Celebrate). With the deals, I ended up paying $47 for all 4 pencils so I figured it was a decent deal.

Neiman Marcus (Ebates 15%): Mason Pearson Styling Comb. (When you can’t afford the brush you buy the comb! LOL! Seriously the $200+ was too rich for my blood.) The comb is really a work of beauty though. Seems to create less static in my hair as well.

Saks (Ebates 15% and Saks 20% off): Burberry Full Kisses (Rosehip).

Skincare by Alana (Ebates 15% and Site 15% off): Lollia Shower Gel (Calm – 4)

Tarte (Mimi 20% off): Limited-edition clay pot waterproof shadow liner (Cobalt, White, Mint, Fairy Wings, Spirit Animal)

Ulta (Ebates 15%): La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo, Zoya Remove+ Nail Polish Remover, ULTA 3-in-1 Beauty Smoothie (2 – Buttercream Cupcake), Tony Moly My Little Pet Eye Patch, Tony Moly Panda’s Dream Brightening Eye Base, Tony Moly Banana Lip Balm (for my daughter), 8-pc Skincare Sampler (GWP)

Weekend plans: Mani of course. I think I may go looking for some plastic containers to sort and store my collectible beauty packaging and products. If we have a break from the 2 weeks of rain on Sunday, I may take a drive to explore.

What’s your favorite genre for movies: Depends on my mood. Sometimes it could be drama and other times a light comedy. Which reminds me, I may be going to see Jungle Book with my daughter this weekend.

Weekend plans: Keep on Farming

What’s your favorite genre for movies: Historical drama

Haul: got a bit of shopping done this week, first time in months that I buy so much stuff! So I received my Clarins Lip Comfort Oil in Red Berry (and Nordstrom sent the right one despite have it named “Cherry” on their site), the My Terracotta summer 2016 from Guerlain (not the duo you reviewed Christine, the one in the red sleeve), a bunch of monoi scented stuff from Yves Rocher, a Blot powder from MAC, a cushion blush from Lancome, the 2% BHA body cream from Paula’s Choice, a Real Technique set and their beauty blender dupe, a mini Nivea cream tin for travel.. and I think that’s it!

Weekend plans: there’s a community event here in our neighborhood so we may go to the outdoor movie tonight and concert on Saturday. Otherwise, running, hiking.

What’s your favorite genre for movies: I like thrillers (without gratuitous violence).

Lulle Avatar

No I buy everything online (hello Ebates 15% cashback!), I’m supposed to receive this one on Tuesday. I’m pretty excited though! I’m actually heading to the mall right now, and I might try to find and swatch them. I got the shade Orange Splash.

Tammy B Avatar

Haul: so I have now worn the Pat McGrath nude Skin Fetish for six days and I’m still unsure how I feel about this product. I did figure out how to build it up so that it can be seen on my skin, so that’s a plus. I like the red-blue-violet shimmer, which is why I purchased it in the first place (it is unique). If I lived on a deserted island where access to reviews was not possible, I would have already returned it; however, the way everyone raves about this product makes me think I’m missing something and I will eventually figure out why it is so wonderful and rave like so many others. Last night my Laura Mercier Matte Radiance in 01 arrived, and as soon as I put it on, my response was, “Yes, this is what a good high lighter is supposed to look like!” I guess I have my answer right there, but still feel sad about returning it. The quality just doesn’t justify the price, in my opinion?.

This week I also picked up the NARS eyeshadow primer and the Sigma highlighting brush (I like this smaller brush for highlighter, as I can control the application of my highlighter better than I could with my previous MAC brush).

From Sephora I picked up the Lavanilla deodorant, Laura Mercier Almond Coconut Soufflé body cream, and Cane and Austin Miracle Pads (30%). The body soufflé is exactly what I have been looking for: clean coconut smell without additional florals, spices, or other fruits. It is quite strong so a little is all you need and the fragrance lasts all day. I wish my fragrances had this kind of staying power. The Lavanilla smells nice but does not provide enough power for my long days followed by sweat sessions at the gym. It’s perfect for a non active day in winter and I do like the smell so I will keep it. Haven’t tried the Cane and Austin yet, but I will likely find them to do what I want them to do.

Weekend plans: I really need to plant my garden. I didn’t have time on Mother’s Day.

Favorite movie genre: Drama.

Mellan looks so pathetic. Poor baby! No more shark booties for him.

Weekend plans: The usual housework, laundry, and shopping. My son’s friend is coming over tomorrow. We haven’t seen him for awhile, so it’ll be nice to have him over.

What’s your favorite genre for movies: I don’t know that I have a favorite. I like well-done comedies, animated films, fantasy, sci-fi, horror (not slasher), visually interesting movies. I’m usually not so much into romances, non-animated musicals, “chick flicks,” feel-good movies.

Haul: Versace Bright Crystal EDT, body wash and body lotion set; Viseart Cashmere Theory palette (this was a Mothers Day gift); Diamancel foot rasp #20; Bobbi Brown Pink Retouching Powder (blaming this one on Wayne Goss!); Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water (the 1 ounce travel size); Urban Decay Aura highlighter; another sample in another colour of MUFE’s new(ish) concealer; Vichy Ideal Body Serum Milk

Weekend plans: a friend coming to stay to celebrate (belatedly) her birthday (I was so sick a few weeks back that we had to postpone) so we’re taking her out to a culinary college teaching restaurant for her birthday (and doing some shopping before-hand). I also want to go to the gym tomorrow as I’ve been slacking off for quite a few weeks – colds, vertigo, laziness….

Favourite movie genre: anything sort of “human” – rom-coms, human interest type stories (like The 100 Foot Journey or My Old Woman, to name 2). I don’t like sci-fi or loud, special effects/ CGI type films at all.

Like it? I absolutely ADORE it. I wrote a review at Makeup Alley and said it’s like they took 6 of my very favourite eyeshadows from Guerlain and Chanel and put them all into one little, perfect package. I was actually a bit worried that the quality would be poor because I have seen a lot of recent negative reviews at Sephora and wondered if the 2nd “run” of these (Sephora was “out of stock” on them for quite a while) was perhaps really bad (this happens sometimes – a difference between the first and subsequent production runs….that UD Pulp Fiction palette is a good example, not with regards to quality but with the incorrect placement of the split shadow pan in the first “batch”). So I was worried it would be a lemon but it is FABULOUS!

Haul/Trip/Weekend Plans On Sunday I am driving to Seattle (about 7 hours) with my daughter who is going to a concert on Monday night. I am going with her and although I am considerably older than my daughter, I had her late in life, I am looking forward to hearing the young lady who is performing. Her name is Tori Kelly. We are taking my mother who is 80 years old and never been to Seattle. So we are going to do all the tourist things and then shop. I am looking for a couple of Charlotte Tilbury products as back-ups, the Bronze Garnet, Emerald and Amber Haze Color Chameleons. I also want to swatch a couple of Tom Ford color quads.
Favorite Movie Genre: I have several genres that I enjoy but first is historical period pieces, better known to my husband as chick flicks and I love action movies.

Haul: Mostly Urban Decay; Iracebeth, Catfight, Easy Baked eyeshadow, and Jack Black lip balm.

Weekend Plans: Work and then being lazy!

Favourite genre of movies: Do documentaries count? Besides that probably dramas.

Haul:
– Two of the Lancome Juicy Shakers (technically 3 as they sent me 2 of the Mint to Be ones by mistake first, and then sent me the Mangoes Wild one after, so now I have an extra one!) which are so lovely and a nice pick-me-up/treat for “meh” days.
– My ColourPop sale purchases came in finally! I got one shadow in Porter, a highlighter in Wisp, an ultra satin lip in The Rabbit, an ultra matte lip in Are & Be, one of the matte x lippie stix in Back Up, and 3 gel liners in Get Paid, Dirty Talk, and Overboard. I meant to get a bronzer but the site was being all wonky because of the amount of people on it so that didn’t end up in my basket, so maybe next time. I’m so glad they had that sale as it’s let me try out some formulas and products I haven’t tried before.
– I also got the new NARS XL sized Orgasm blush which should be showing up today! For reference, it’s apparently the size of their normal-sized bronzers, and only $9 more than the usual $30 blush price, so those of you that use that one a lot may want to get on it before it’s gone.

Weekend plans: My mom is showing up on Saturday for an as-yet-undetermined amount of time, so try to survive that and try to enjoy that?

What’s your favorite genre for movies: SciFi! Though a well-written action film, intelligent comedy, or Pixar movie is always nice. I HATE horrors with a passion and I’m not big on anything that’s a combo romance/thriller. That’s messed up.

Haul: I’m (impatiently!) waiting for MAC X Chris Chang and MAC Vibe Tribe to come out in The Netherlands, but they’re being a bit sketchy about the release dates so some items are on my wishlist for now. Also found a way to order Colourpop (finally!) so my wishlist is more like a wishbook.. God have mercy on my bankaccount.

Weekend plans: Studying until I drop. I have “examen-month” starting next week. May God have mercy on my grades too, lol!

Fave genre for movies: I love anything that is a bit sci-fi, but I’m also really into stuff like X-Men and Divergent series. Some of my fave’s of all time are Waiting To Exhale and The Davinci Code so I guess I really don’t have a type ?.

Arantxa Avatar

Damn.. While writing that I almost forgot I’ve been dying to get my hands on MAC’s Raizin blush. The MUA put it on me when I was in the store and I’ve been obsessed ever since. Also heavily obsessing over NYX’ Maison lipstick, which I will hopefully order soon. I just got NYX Merlot lipstick and discoverd it can be a pretty good dupe for MAC’s dangerously red (from the zac posen collab) on my lips.

Haul: My low-buy is over!
Feel unique: By Terry Sun Designer palette – Flash and Tan Cruise. I’ve mentioned this once or twice ?
MAC Cosmetics: Hot Chocolate lipstick which my 2 year old daughter promptly bit the top off! Arrrgh! I did try it on anyway, the colour pulls warmer on me than it did on you. Will have to use a lip brush though, the tip is ruined, haha!
Selfridges: NARS Pool Shark and Deep End eyeshadows, Selfridges x Beauty Workshop bag (with Lipstick Queen Jungle Queen – an orange-coral lipstick and lots of fun skincare goodies)
Birchbox UK – theBalm Stainiac and Benefit’s Dew the Hoola, Spectrum beauty sponge plus skincare
Latest in Beauty x British Beauty blogger Precious Petals box – Erborian CC cream and lots of facial care stuff from Melvita, Erborian and L’Occitane, they all come from the same umbrella company.

Place for weekend: Nothing fixed but my daughter is going through a sleep regression so is struggling to get to sleep at bedtime. I have to sit with her until she settles, it can take an hour at least. So I’m tired the next day and so is she! It should last only 2-3 weeks so it’s not too bad, not as bad as when she had sleep regressions when she was smaller. It’s still a right pain though!

Favourite movie genre: I don’t really have one, I’ll watch anything except horror, lol! I used to be a real film buff when I was younger. My fiancé and I like to go to see foreign films, partly because they’re arty, partly because they’re subtitled and I can follow them as I’m deaf. On Mon we’re going to see My Friend Totoro which is an Hayao Miyazaki animated film (he did Spirited Away).

HAUL: Clinique chubby stick eye tint in Fuller Fudge. Oh man, I got this for everyday lazy looks were I can just swipe it on and blend it for an effortless, 1 colour look. This has been my favourite makeup buy all year. I’ve also restocked on my Shiseido cotten pads and bought Misslyn nail polish in pink elephant(amazing colour)
WEEKEND PLANS: Working a 12 hour shift on Saturday, Sunday is for gardening and the movie theatre.
FAVOURITE GENRE FOR MOVIES: Musicals and silly comedies (Airplane!, anything Mel Brooks, etc). But lately I’ve been on a romantic period drama kick?
WISHLIST: TheBalm liquid lipstick in Committed — I’ve been loving it since I first swatched it but the only place that stocks it here in my city is Rexalls and all their boxes have been suspiciously empty… For 4 weeks!

Soooo late to this one but it’s fitting since I hit an empty tonight (PC Clinical Retinol):

Haul: I received Bite’s new LE lipsticks in two shades, obviously Taro and Lavender Jam for those who know my all the purple tendencies. Still debating Thistle. The others are lovely but I can dupe them fairly easily. Got some routine staple HG Paula’s Choice replenished (oil booster, both exfoliating sets for AHA and BHA, 1% Clinical Retinol, c-booster, etc) and some Algenist. Have NARS Cressida otw.

Weekend Plans: Filming, resting w WoW and GoT post-work, hanging with my doggies, couple of meals w friends.

Genre is hard for me because I love very many so much, so fondly it’s hard to express. Horror is my all-time favorite.

Celia Avatar

Loving your new avatar picture! Gorgeous 🙂 Cressida arrived today and it’s absolutely lovely yet (not that I use the DI’s dry very often). Works great with Pool Shark on the inner corner. Pleasantly surprised with how different it looks than Giove.

Haul:
MAC: Pro Longwear Blush Blush All Day
ColourPop: Ultra Satin Lip – London Fog, Frick N’ Frack, Cozy, Super Shock Eyeshadows Porter, Krinkle, Bae, Weenie, Flower Shop and So Quiche
Sephora: Perfumes Nest Citrine, Atelier Orange Sanguine, Giorgio Armani Eye Tint #12 Gold Ashes

My Allure Beauty Box came in, my Sephora Play box is on it’s way, and my replacement Scentbird box should be here on Tuesday. My first order (Tom Ford Velvet Orchid) arrived empty with the canister shattered. I emailed customer service and they’ve been great about it. I saved the envelope and have been using it as a room fragrance until the scent fades. That is a very strong perfume!

•Weekend plans: Friday night tidy and clean the house while baking goodies (Walnut Snowballs minus the snow, Tres Leches cupcakes, yellow cake with chocolate frosting) to take to a family get together on Saturday. I’ll probably come home with some of my Dad’s cooking and I’ve already cooked a few things on Thursday so we’ll have leftovers to eat through until mid week so no cooking on Sunday (yay!). Sunday morning laundry and then lunch and shopping with a co-worker in the afternoon for a staff party later in the week.

•What’s your favorite genre for movies: It’s a tie between action comedies and animated (comedies).

I got a few things that I needed and some things that I didn’t! I got another Tom Ford Patent Finish Lip Color in the shade No Vacancy, which is warmer than Stolen Cherry that I already have. I love these!

I finally got my hands on two of the Chanel Rouge Coco Stylos. I got Message and Histoire and I’m really liking these. Smooth, great colour payoff and they don’t really dry out my lips. 🙂

I also got a Surratt Beauty Lipslique to try since I’d been wanting one for years! I got a nice everyday shade, Perfectionniste, and I am in love! The shade lovely but it’s the feel and the way this doesn’t dry out my lips AT ALL that I love, which is unheard of for me! I’d totally recommend them but I suppose that just because they work well for me doesn’t mean that they’ll work well for everyone.

I got a new lip balm to try, well balm and scrub in one. It’s one of the Clinique Sweet Pots in Sweet Rose. I was just curious, not expecting too much. The balm itself is quite thin but stayed on my lips for quite a while and was moderately hydrating. If you want something deeply hydrating then this isn’t for you. This works well enough for me but only just. I’ve not used the scrub part yet but I’ve only had it a day. 😛

There are a few more things but I’m not fully awake yet and I badly need to eat something!
