Editor's Review

Empreinte du Desert #4 id a muted, dark brown with subtle, neutral-to-warm undertones and a soft, pearly sheen. It had mostly opaque pigmentation with a soft, blendable texture that was a smidgen dusty in the pan. I didn't notice the dustiness when working with it on the lid, though, and it's the kind of shade that works well applied at full intensity, and then blended out, or used more sparingly and built up. The color wore well for eight hours on me. Anastasia Witch (LE, $12.00) is warmer (95% similar). Viseart Cool Matte #5 (PiP, ) is less shimmery (95% similar). Too Faced Everlasting (PiP, ) is warmer (95% similar). MAC Rising Passions (LE, $17.00) is lighter (90% similar). Natasha Denona Dark Sepia (47P) (PiP, $29.00)(90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Spring 2015 (LE, $45.00) is cooler (90% similar). MAC Collective Chic #3 (LE, ) is darker, brighter, cooler (85% similar). NARS Rue Allent (Right) (LE, ) is darker, cooler (85% similar). NARS Zagreb (DC, $25.00) is less shimmery, warmer (85% similar). Dior Golden Savannah #5 (LE, ) is warmer (85% similar). Probably my favourite shade in the whole Empreinte du Desert quad. This look so different applied than it looks in the pan. Don't get me wrong - it looks darned nice in the pan but more like a coppery golden brown. Applied, though, it looks much darker, cooler and smokier. It is smooth and gorgeous. To my dismay, even with all the brown eyeshadows I have, I've nothing else that is a "dupe" for this beauty, which means I'll have to use it in a rather miserly fashion since these pans are pretty small. I'm so glad I grabbed this quad as soon as it launched at the Chanel counter. It's a great quad but this particular shadow is the real star for me. I've learned to keep the plastic protective "shields" that come with Chanel quads; it offers some protection when travelling with them, thus making them "travel friendly".
