LUSH Wants You To Get Naked!
We all know LUSH as an eco-friendly brand, but this really takes it to the next level! Today, at 12 PM sharp, they will be leading a protest that urges shoppers to go “naked” by purchasing products free of packaging. The main event is located in NYC (Outside LUSH Soho, Broadway, & Spring St.), but the activity will also take place in Chicago, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, Atlanta, Washington DC, Orlando, Portland, Aspen, Boulder, Carmel, Pasadena, Scottsdale, Maui, Annapolis, Bethesda, St. Louis, Las Vegas, Kansas City and Providence.
Why are LUSH employees shedding their clothes to talk about packaging? The environment is one of the biggest global issues we face today. In order to combat climate change and to protect the Earth’s scarce natural resources, shoppers need to take action by avoiding packaged goods. Unnecessary packaging can be found in almost every retailer: loose fruit individually shrink-wrapped or on plastic trays in supermarkets, the prolific use of plastic carrier bags and the mountains of plastic bottles used for cosmetic products are all contributing to the growing environmental crisis.
Did you know… LUSH only uses 100% post-consumer waste bottles for their plastic bottles? Their paper bags, cardboard boxes, and reusable tins are all made from recycled materials?
Good luck to those very brave employees! You wouldn’t catch me struttin’ my birthday suit all over town, even for a good cause, but then again, maybe I need to go on How To Look Good Naked, and then I’d be all over it.
Kudos for sure.
You know, the other day I redeemed my Victoria’s Secret “free panty” card, and there was nothing else I wanted to buy that day so it was just the panty. It made me grimace to see them wrap it in paper just to put it in the pink plasticky sack, so I asked if I could just take it and the receipt. The answer? “Um, I don’t think I’m allowed to do that. Security might think you stole it.” Even if I have a receipt? For a free item I didn’t even fork over any dough for? I at least got them to take the tissue paper back. I try not to buy things online because a giant box and loads of packing doesn’t make any sense, I’d rather at least order lots of items at once or find the item locally.
Aww, that sucks that they were like that 🙁
I loveeeeeeeee Lush, seriously… but I’m not getting nakies in public for them lol
By the way, I don’t know if you know this but Hard Candy is having a 75% off everything sale on their website.
LOL, I know how you feel!
I think brands like Benefit and all those cutsy brands need to learn a thing or two about packaging from Lush…
If their goal is to be greener, then yes 🙂
I noticed Boston isn’t on there, but I can guess why.
Random guy naked and wearing an apron = sexual offense
Lush employee naked and wearing an apron = sexual offense
Crazy laws! I’m surprised they can do it, though, anywhere, to be honest!
