Dior Summer 2016 Collection
Dior Summer 2016 Color Collection
Inspired by the iconic Dior polka dot pattern, Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director for Dior Makeup, created vibrant color palettes comprised of energetic shades balanced by soft, milky hues. Delicate pinks are paired with audacious Mediterranean blues and bold melon for a confident, eye-catching look. Nails top off the look with corresponding color duos designed for pattern play; pair soft nudes with dots of bright azure, cherry red or chic melon.

The nail polish duos with the dotting tool are so cute! I am betting they will be out of my nail polish price range, but I do like it.
The nail polish duos are $31. That’s a free dotting tool and 2 .24 oz polishes each versus regular price of $27 (price matched at Nordstrom now for $24.30) for 1 .33 oz polish. I never use up polish so for me, it’s not such a bad deal.
Nail polish isn’t my splurge zone (I am totally content with just buying salon or ds brands, and flash sales for h/e are pretty easy to find); so this is still a pass for me. Sounds like a great option for Dior polish aficionados, though!
Totally understand. There usually isn’t a big range in quality between the better less expensive ones (I like Zoya and Target’s Defy & Inspire) and the higher dollar ones. I’ve had hit and miss with Dior, YSL, and MAC polishes. The only more expensive polish that is consistently great (IMO) is JINSoon which I do splurge on more often than I should.
Hi Julia, the brand Essence, sold at Ulta as well as other stores in Europe, has a dotting tool for only several dollars!
Pupa too!
I love the nail polish kits!! I love each color combination, and the dotting tool is really cute.
Unfortunately, this whole collection might be a skip for me. Not holding out much hope for the Dior shadows, I’m well stocked on glosses & highlighters (incl Dior Nude Glowing), and I don’t wear polish, but hoping it scores well for those interested
If D can do a milky tint that doesn’t pull into lines, they’ll get the Nobel Prize in Makeup…which really should be a thing. Putting a cream in with the powders in Reviver kills it for most people, but nice concept for the palette. Could work as a topper, but the cream in there is likely to get messy, esp. if the shadows are powdery. Don’t have high hopes for this oeuvre.
Julia: there are lots of dotting/nail design kits out there…don’t let the price point discourage you. Colors are pretty, though, cooler pair, warmer pair, springy/summery.
Thanks for heads up on FAB triple duty primer. Great product. I love the texture.. perfect.
It IS good. Wee tad of correction, good skin care ingredients. That and CFX are the only non-Paula products I use. FAB overall is a good line. Nancy likes some of their product. Pretty well consumer reviewed. Glad you are liking it. And like the channeling of Louise Brooks (Google if unfamiliar) in your current cut.
Louise’s force is with me. Weird how a cut changes everything. I bought this beautiful charcoal grey cashmere cabled slouchy beanie which looked so horrible on me..until I got my hair cut. Now I wear it all the time.. even today.. 76 degree weather, a sleeveless racerback tank..and my hat. I loves it so 😀 danke schön dudette.
Completely agree on the polish! I just never feel the need to spend more than about $8-10 per (full sized) nail polish, there are so many great colors and great formulas out there at much lower price points (if it were a really unique color I would stretch, definitely not the case here). I don’t personally find it worth the spend to go luxury. I prefer to throw my money at eyeshadow, cheek products, lip gloss… 🙂
Be VERY WARY of the Milky Tints. I ordered Milky Plum and detested it. There was nothing ‘milky’ about it; it was just a sheer tint. The 8-hour moisture it promised only last as long as the tint itself which was about 90 minutes.
Fun little conspiracy theory about these as well: I gave a 2-star review on Sephora, yet it never posted. I tried again and it still never posted, and every other less-than favorable review is getting significant down-votes as well. In case you didn’t know Sephora will remove ratings/reviews with a certain metric of down-votes. Seeing as they’ve (in at least two instances) neglected to post an honest, unbiased, unfavorable review and these helpful-yet-unfavorable reviews keep getting down-voted somehow, something makes me think this is happening on purpose. Maybe I’m being paranoid but it all seems a little too coincidental, especially once you consider that Dior Cosmetics is owned by LVMH, the same parent company that owns Sephora. Just some crazy food for thought!
Andrew, interesting theory. I can tell you (for sure) that Sephora does not abide by their posting rules when it comes to blog references. There are dozens, if not hundreds, of reviews posted by bloggers which include references to their site in either the post or video and yet any post I attempt to make with just a named reference (no site link) to my blog, is rejected. Also, the bloggers that are posting all do have favorable reviews of the products. I called them this weekend to ask them about their posting policy and the Rep. went to a few posts I referenced for him and he said he would send the query to management to “look into it”.
Aww crap.. rather what I expected on the milky tints. 🙁
Didn’t have to see it to know that milky would be too good to be true. What you say about Sephora reviews is 1000% true. It is not conspiracy theory; it’s reality. They have let some dead pans about Touch in Sol liners stand, but I think they limit the negs, so the overall average never falls below 3, average. Since they have not published my last 2 disses, and always publish my +s, I’m not going to write that I took 3 back, for various reasons. Wish I could go back and reread the KVD duo blush reviews, the ones they pulled. It’s def open the floodgates on positives, while curtail the negs. Interesting to read about Kendo, the LMVH arm that will be responsible for the development of Rihanna, and is for MJB and KVD. Kendo used to be part of Sephora, like their R + D. Now it’s separate, but still under the same parent co. Maybe that is so Kendo can develop for LMVH brands that are not marketed through Sephora, whatever they may be…..
You’re not the first person to say this about Sephora, so I don’t think it’s crazy at all. I’ve noticed some iffy practices in their review posting process.
I’m liking the sound of the milky tints.. but recognize a more ‘pastel’ lip could be epic fail. The quads are gorg..but yeah..we all know that story. I would love to be proven wrong.
The nail enamels are pretty! I like the blue..duh 😀
I’m not a fan of “milky” – it so often looks scummy and cakey in lip products….just UGH. And why would they make these Air/Skin/Glow/Radiance powders permanent but not the ones from Spring, which sold out in 5 minutes (I’m so glad I got the pink one but if they’d hung around a while, I’d have got the warmer one as well). That one 6-product eye palette looks interesting but I am wary of Dior’s shadows so I’ll wait to see how the reviews pan out.
There were these amazing limited edition ‘milky’ lipsticks done by Revlon, I think, way back in the mid 80’s and they were amazeballs.. looked so completely Mod on and defied the usual hideousness of a pastel lip. I had the one in a mauve colour and used to get compliments all the time. It was beyoootiful. But I hear ya. They so often fall incredibly short of the bar.
Wendy, was one of the Revlon milky ones “Pink In The Afternoon”, by any chance? Which they did make permanent, but it does NOT look or even go on as beautifully as the 80’s one! I went through multiple tubes of the original.
That sounds so familiar, Nancy, but I’ve been wracking my brain and I cannot make the connection. I was a huge Revlon lipstick junkie in the 80’s so it wouldn’t surprise me if it is a shade I owned at some point. These shades I am talking about had quite whitish base and I don’t know how, but they just worked. The word milky describes them perfectly.. they were quite light pastels. Even lighter than what Pink in the Afternoon is looking on google search. 🙂
The nail kit in Plumetis is calling my name!
I have a Milky Tint in Milky Plum and I am enjoying it. It is more sheer than I expected, but still adds a nice wash of color and does not settle into lip lines. I fear the lighter shades may, however. The formula is nice and does indeed feel hydrating, which is no easy feat on my desert-like lips. I don’t care for the slightly perfume-y scent, but it dissipates quickly and doesn’t bother me after application. I am very sensitive to fragrances, so this may not be an issue for most. I want to get another shade or two as I rarely find a lip product that is truly hydrating and I enjoy these types of soft shades for summer.
Is it just me or is this collection begging for blushes?!? Come on, Dior! You are masters at a beautifully-packaged blush and these polka-dots are begging to be turned into an embossed pattern on a blush. The lovely washed-out pastels are also prime for blush shades. Missed opportunity here. Sniff, sniff.
I love the last nail polish set. So gorgeous.
I’m not holding out much hope for Dior shadows and “milky” lip tints. I just read “zero pigmentation.” I hope I’m wrong. The nail polish colors are cute.
If *only* Dior would for once in a very lonnnng while, make HIGH QUALITY eyeshadows in their LE collections! That, even though none of these palettes are calling to me. The nail polish kits are another story! But I won’t be running after any of them because the one I love, ivory beige with bright blue, I can dupe within my ridiculous NP stash, and just purchase the Essence nail dotting tool at Ulta.
I’ve seen the loose powder swatched it’s really nice.
I was a bit underwhelmed by this collection at first, but I have to say I love it, especially the Diorskin Nude Air powder in Fresh Light. I NEVER wear bronzers and I’ve been wearing this religiously since I got it. I’m so glad these are permanent!
As a rule, I don’t purchase LE products but this looks interesting to me: DIORSKIN NUDE AIR SHIMMERING LOOSE POWDER | $56.00 |
Sorry – but those palettes look dry and dusty from here….and the two blues are nearly the same colour…..
The top palette is full of very dupable colours.
The nail polishes are pretty colours, but very expensive……
Dior fails to excite me now a days. But the lipsticks and nailpolishes are really cute. But will wait for reviews… Before buying anything.
