Soft Makeup: Sweet with Sugar Plums
Soft Makeup: Sweet with Sugar Plums
Super soft look I did for Mother’s Day! Quick, easy, and wearable. 🙂
You will need the following…
- Eyes: Benefit Stay Don’t Stray (neutral beige base), MAC Seedy Pearl Eyeshadow (iridescent white-pink), MAC Shale Eyeshadow (gray-mauve), MAC Plum Dressing Eyeshadow (reddened plum), MAC Vanilla Eyeshadow (soft white highlighter), MAC Almost Noir Pearlglide Liner (dark burgundy), MAC Opulash Mascara (black)
- Face: Make Up For Ever HD Foundation (140), Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder (translucent)
- Cheeks: MAC Pink Rebel Lustre Drops (peach-gold liquid highlighter), MAC Hipness Blush (coral pink)
- Lips: MAC Sweetie Lipstick (soft pink), Dior Mauve Accent Ultra Gloss (plummy pink)
- Brushes: 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 226 (fluffy crease brush), 116 (dense blush brush)
- Substitutes: Pink Rebel = Benefit High Beam; Hipness = Benefit Coralista
For eyes, start by applying Stay Don’t Stray as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249. Using the 239, apply Seedy Pearl eyeshadow on the lower lid. Next, apply Shale eyeshadow into the crease with the 226, lightly blending outwards and upwards to fade to the brow bone. With the 239, apply Plum Dressing eyeshadow into the crease directly and then blended towards the outer corner and lid. Blend Vanilla eyeshadow with the crease shade and highlight the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying Almost Noir eyeliner on the lower lash line and finish by sweeping lashes with Opulash mascara.
For cheeks, apply Pink Rebels lustre drops on the apples and upper cheekbones. Then, lightly apply Hipness blush to the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116.
For lips, apply Sweetie lipstick first, and then layer Mauve Accent ultra gloss for a complementing lip.
This is stunning !! gorgeous soft eyes with lovely lips =)
Thank you!
I love shale and plum dressing! I should try this 🙂
Love Plum Dressing! Shale and I get along OK, but we aren’t besties quite yet 🙂
So pretty!
Thank ya, Steph!
Beautiful look.
Have you reviewed the Stay don’t Stray? I have it and am a bit indifferent about it. I don’t mind it as an actual concealor on my face, but I don’t like it around my eyes, and not as an eyeshadow base. I find it is really pro-crease.
I haven’t reviewed it – this is the first time I used it. I didn’t experience any creasing, despite wearing the look for around ten hours or so!
This is lovely. When I first started wearing eye makeup it was mostly plums. I tend to go more for purples these days but you’ve convinced me to give plums another shot.
Thanks, Steph!
I love this look!!! It looks so beautiful! I’m going to do my eyeshadow like this tomorrow.
Thanks so much, Chrissy!
Really pretty Christine! I don’t own Plum Dressing-would Sketch be a good substitute?
Hmm, it would be OK, but it’s a bit dark – maybe something more like Hepcat?
Beautiful look on you. Soft and lovely!
Thanks, Melissa!
really nice look! I’m impressed by the way Opulash looks here 🙂
Thank you, Tiffany!
sorry this is a bit off topic but how similar would you say fleur power and hipness are? thanks!
Fleur Power is peachier, I think…
BEAUTIFUL!
And don’t you just love the Stay Don’t Stray? I won’t use anything else. It’s really the only one that works for me! 🙂
Thanks, Wendy!
I’ve only used it once, so it’s hard to say.
This is one of my favorite looks you’ve done lately.
Thanks, Chennel!
i love this look! it looks gorgeous on you! 🙂
Thanks, Julia!
Wow, I love how Almost Noir looks on your lower lashline! I really wish I had gotten that liner now :).
Thank ya, Alexis!
This is really pretty 😉
Thank you, Andrea!
OMG Christine, this is possibly the prettiest look you’ve done in a long time! LOVE IT! 🙂
Thanks so much, Anita 🙂
wow this look is absolutely gorgeous.
im totally loving the eyes, and the liner is a really pretty color.
did you use the lustre drops as a highlight?
Yes, I used the Lustre Drops as a highlight!
Thanks!
I really love this look, so sweet and innocent. Perfect for the spring time.
Thanks a lot, Kristin!
Such a pretty look! Fresh and beautiful. How are you liking “Stay Don’t Stray?”
Thanks! It’s a bit too early to say 😛
This look is one of my most favorite ones you’ve done.
Beautiful.
Thanks so much, Stephanie!
Love it Christine. Can’t wait to try this look out.
Question though, you said you used the 219 brush, but you didn’t say where and how you used it.
Thanks for this!
Sorry, I didn’t use that brush in this look – I just use it in most looks, so it’s in my HTML skeleton for the post. Sorry!
Lol. Don’t even worry about it, its totally fine. I just wanted to make sure so when I do the look, I know what to use!
Thanks again!
This look is simply gorgeous, I wish I had half your talent 🙂
Thank you, Solangel 🙂
You look beautiful in pink! Love the eye shadow combo. It’s a nice ‘build a quad’ selection!!
Thanks a lot!
It’s also nice to see looks using products from the MAC permanent line…dust ’em off once in awhile!!
Such a pretty look, love it!
Do you know if “Hipness” is similar to Illamasqua’s “Hussy?”?
Thanks!
THanks a lot, Christine! It’s similar — I’d say maybe a little pinker/on the coral side.
I love this look on you it’s soooo girly.
Thank you, Diana 😀
Pretty! Sweetie lipstick looks so good on you– natural but with some color, you know? It always looks kind og bright on me. Hipness blush looks kind of like Benefit Coralista, one of my favs.
Thank you, Allison! 🙂 I can’t believe it looks bright on you! How crazy!
Love this look!!! now i know another way to wear plum dressing e/s, thanks Christine.
Thanks Lilly!
So pretty!
I recently got Seedy Pearl and will have to try this!! I’m loving Almost Noir liner as well – I wear it more than any of the other pearlglides, which surprised me a bit as I was so sure I’d like the others more…
Loving the lip combo as well, it’s just gorgeous! It almost perfectly matches your top too! 🙂
Thanks! 🙂
I think I’ve been using Almost Noir the most, too!
oh my gosh, this is so romantic and pretty!
Thanks, Cecile!
I love this so much. I’m going to have to go out and buy the shadows I don’t own in this look just to copy you! 😉
Aww! 🙂 Thank you, Catherine!
Love the look! very pretty on you, I’m going to try it myself
Thank you, Lupe! I hope you do!
This is so pretty! I love how soft it is, and Almost Noir looks fantastic with it!
Thanks, Ashley!
Can you think of any dupes for Seedy Pearl and Plum Dressing?
They’re permanent…
Awww man, you make me wish I had bought that Almost Noir liner now 😀
Aw 😛

LOL! Yes, poor hubby’s pocket!!
Thank you so much, Rashmi!
As soon as I’ve seen it all, I can make you some recs!
I love the way you used red-toned shadows without ending up looking like you’d been up all night! You’re a very talented makeup artist!
Aw, thanks a lot, Anne!
hello beautiful =)
🙂
gorgeous! i love how the liner matches perfectly
Thanks, Diana!
Gorgeous Christine! I really don’t do the whole matching shadow with clothes thing, but you do it so damn well :). You’re making me want those silly Lustre Drops. Which shade should I get? I am NC45, Neutral-leaning more towards cool.
LOL! Thank you, Shontay 🙂
Hmm, I think you could rock either, honest. They’re both great, versatile shades. Pink Rebel is a little more complementing to cooler tones.
This is really beautiful and it looks so pretty on you!! Thanks for sharing all your looks and your knowledge, it’s really helpful! 😀
Thank you so much, Susy!
Very pretty!
Thanks a lot, Patty!
Oh this is so gorgeous, Christine ! I’m sorry I didn’t get Almost Noir, it’s lovely !
Thank you, Claudia!
this looks amazing on you! plum dressing was one of the first mac eyeshadows i purchased but unfortunately it looks horrible on me haha. im glad it looks great on someone!
Thank you, AZ! 🙂
That liner looks so much like 1999 in UD 24/7.
Kind of – glittery, a little darker.
OMG so gorgeous! Love the colours 🙂
Almost noir looks amazing! Are there any dupes for it, like maybe from urban decay? Or is rave pearlglide similar (doubt it but worth a try!)
also is hipness a dupe for coralista because I dont want to become adicted to a limited edition colour…
Thanks a lot, Hannah! 🙂 Hipness is a little more coral – not quite as frosty as CORALista.
Hi Christine – I tried a dupe of this today but with purple instead of plum.
Used Seedy Pearl over Bare Study Paint pot, two purple shades from the Dior Purple Crystal quint, a smidge of MAC Mystical Mist in the crease and lined lower lash line with Designer Purple. Permaplum on the upper lashline.
Thanks so much for the inspiration!!! 🙂
Sounds lovely!! I’m so honored!
This is by far my most favorite look you have ever done, Christine! I am completely speechless!
Thank you, Mandy!
I love this look! This is not good for my wallet, I really want these colours! ^^
Thanks, Stephanie!
This is stunning !! gorgeous soft eyes with lovely lips

Nope, I’ve never worn contacts before!
Love everything and the dress that goes with !
Thank you! 🙂
