Shadows! To see if they hold up on my oily lids before the return period expires. BTW, I like Tom Ford Cream Shadow in Siren Blue. On its own, I don’t think it looks too great, but it makes a nice cream base for powder blue shadows because it’s a light, sheer teal that won’t change color of the blue shadow too much. I had a blue shadow that was prone to fallout and fading, and Siren Blue really boosted its performance. And Clinique Lid Pop in Aqua teal is stunning on top of it! I then added some gold shadow, and was able to get a look that’s close to Natasha Denona’s Cloudy Blue, which seems perpetually sold out.

Haul: Bobbie Brown Lixe Lip Color in Soft Berry. Photos cannot do this lip color justice! It is so nice that I am thinking about getting one for my daughter. These Bobbi Brown lipsticks are making me change my mind about nudes (I generally can’t stand wearing nude lipsticks.) Yesterday I created a very pretty look with Pink Buff. I can’t wait to get neutral rose. I am so happy that there has been a lull in limited edition products so that I can pick up items that I’ve had on my wish list for months.

Weekend Plans: very early Easter celebration with my children and grand children. We are having turkey dinner and of course, Easter baskets!

Lazy again: Hmmm. How about spending an entire morning on nothing but online make up activities like reading this blog?

Tammy B Avatar

I can’t think of any other lipstick that compares, formula-wise. I have tried and owned many high end luxury lipsticks, but soft berry beats them all for pigmentation plus hydration. The formula is not quite the same for Pink Buff, so I am guessing it varies slightly from shade to shade.

Tracey E. Avatar

Hi Tammy, I love Bobbi Brown’s luxe lipsticks. I have 3, including Neutral Rose, which I love. I forgot how nice the texture is until I wore one last week. I’ll take at Soft Berry. I’m enamored at the thought of new Art Sticks, so will be at a counter soon.

Haul: Finally replaced my beauty blender after an embarrassing amount of time :-/. Also purchased First Aid Beauty Repair Cream for the second time. I never repurchase things but it’s worked so well with my skin! And it’s a great price. The tube lasts me a year! Oh and I purchased a WnW “gel” nail polish in a light pink and I’ve gotten so many compliments on it. It stays on my nails longer than my others and it was $4! Winning!

Weekend plans: Super quick trip to NY. I plan to eat, eat, eat!

Lazy day: Wake up past 9, mimosas, watch TV with hubby. Until I get bored. Then find something to do haha

Oh Mellan is so sweet. I have high hopes for this weekend. I was bad this week and made a big order on Sephora and should get it this afternoon or in the morning so that means playing with new stuff. One (or I should say two) of the things I’m really excited to try that I ordered are the Anastasia Glow kits. I’ve also decided that my puppy needs a day at doggy day care so I can have a quiet day of getting stuff done around the house without tripping over her or her millions of toys constantly. Even though the weather has been pretty mild in Calgary this week I seem to be constantly cold so I just want a cozy day of fat pants and my blanket on the sofa. Oh and my heating pad because I’m a thousand years old…
Wait!!! I just re-read above, does that say Estee Lauder blush palette??? Uh-oh, I gotta go. Hope everyone has an awesome weekend.
P.S. Good luck this weekend if you live somewhere where day-light savings makes the time go forward an hour. Ugh!

I was able to buy in-store on Monday! Nordstrom’s site showed they were in-stock at my location over the weekend, so I called ahead to make sure and they put one aside for me. It’s soooo cute! And so pink!

Haul:
9 West Salon: Kevin Murphy Doo Over and Plumping Wash. I want to try the Doo Over to see if I can use it to add more volume (like he does in his vids). I love his Plumping Line for when I dry and curl – adds tons of volume to my fine, flat hair!

MAC: Pearlglide Intense Eyeliner (Industrial), Prep + Prime Skin Sample. I’ve never tried the pearlglide formula and liked the duo-quality of this shade. Will be trying it this weekend.

Saks: Kiehl’s Powerful Strength Line-Reducing Eye-Brightening Concentrate

Sephora: Milk Makeup Shadow Liner (Trust Fund), Dr. Brandt Needles No More Deluxe Sample, 3 Free Samples. OMG I LOVE the shadow liner. Haven’t posted about it yet but will soon.

Ulta (3x Points): Lorac Color Source Buildable Blush (Ultra Violet (satin violet)), Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss (Metallic Rose (shimmery dusty rose)), Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss (Dusty Lilac (soft pinky purple)), 4-pc Marc Jacobs Daisy Sampler (GWP), 3 Free Samples. Ok, Christine, I blame YOU for the blush and gloss…I loved your reviews on these so I had to buy them. The blush is truly a unique shade (feels like a Spring version of my fav UD BIttersweet) and the Rose gloss is just a nice classic shade.

Urban Decay: Revolution Lipgloss (Big Bang and Gash), Ultimate Ozone, 5 Piece GWP, All Nighter Setting Spray Deluxe Sample. This is actually on it’s way to me – should have it by Monday. I thought about getting Gash as a lipstick instead but thought I’d get more use from it as a gloss. I may still get the lipstick since I’ve gotten my first UD “kickback” on their loyalty program.

Weekend plans: I still need to get more Spring/Summer tops. I had hit TJMaxx the other day but left with only 1 top (and 2 pairs of shoes and a scarf!) So, possibly shopping. Also doing a St. P Day mani and deciding between Zoya Ireland or the love-it-or-hate-it Peace Green 🙂

What’s your favorite thing to do on a lazy day?: I’m usually busy but I guess reading, catching up on stuff I’ve dvr’d, country roads driving….

Katherine T. Avatar

Michelle, I’ve been checking your blog out! I saw your review on the Milk lipsticks and grabbed the mini duo that Sephora is offering with min $25 purchase, it should be here next week, can’t wait. Also can’t wait to see your thoughts are on that Milk shadow liner. YSL Peace Green is sold out everywhere, going for about $70 on evil bay 🙁 but glad you snagged yours. And yikes on the MAC Pastel 9 palette, hope you were able to return.

Michele @Binxcat4ever Avatar

I hope to get the shadow liner reviewed this weekend. Oh my gosh – yes, Peace Green is gone! I totally would not spend $70 for Peace Green (or any other polish!) I think YSL is moving on to promote their Summer Collection which is actually now available. (Not sure if I’ll buy any as the shades look like they may run too warm for me.) Actually I gave the MAC Pastel away. Basically I just keep a running bag of the samples I don’t want and the products i end up not liking. I hope you like the lippies! I haven’t tried those shades but honestly every product I have tried from Milk has really lived up to the claims. I was surprised at how versatile the eye vinyl was (assuming the slight tackiness doesn’t bother you). I think it’s really going to be nice in the Summer for a healthy glow look.

Katherine T. Avatar

I googled MAC Undercurrent, and I think I need it in my life! Will go great with my teal blue and teal green shadows, and I’m a total sucker for gold shimmer! Will be my first Pearl Glide, praying it holds up on my oily lids

Tammy B Avatar

You are tempting me to stop by Ulta on my way home and pick up a few things because of the 3X bonus points. I am trying to be very, very good until the 21st, when Norstroms starts their triple points days!

Michele @Binxcat4ever Avatar

I actually give away items that don’t live up to promises or just don’t work that great for me – it helps keep my stash down. I also get a ton of samples and I’d say at least 75% I give away. I have 5 (36 count) acrylic lippie holders in a cabinet where they are organized by shade and by subcategory (lipstick, sheer lipstick, gloss, and liners/crayons). I also have a extra large train case where I keep products I’m using (by season and arranged by type and shade). the rest are stored in acrylic tubs in a closet with labels as to product type.

Katherine T. Avatar

Ooops sorry, I meant Michele with one “L”. I was typing too fast, and there’s like 3 Michelles at my work with double ” L’s” so I keep typing that !

Nicole Avatar

You do?? I’ve been thinking about it for months, but have yet to take the plunge. If you don’t mind me asking, do you find that the price is comparable to what you’d pay in the grocery store/worth it for the convenience?

I hope you like it Indya!

Christine Avatar

We’re just two people, and we tend to go out or end up shopping at Whole Foods and paying a premium on groceries, so for us, it ends up being worth it. What I like about it is that it does teach you how to cook, and you do try different techniques/cuisines, so it’s not boring. Portions, IMO, are close to what one should probably eat per meal, but they might feel smaller than what you’re used to!

Like for my mom, she cooks everything from scratch but grocery shops at regular stores and buys what’s on sale, stocks up, etc. and can make something without a recipe, so for her, it wasn’t worth it at all.

Nicole Avatar

Oh ok! Thank you for letting me know! That actually does sound really nice. I like that they switch it up-I get bored with food so easily and am constantly running out of ideas for what to make and then not eating or eating cereal-bad habit. And I don’t drive, so any groceries I get I have to carry home myself-this might be really nice for reducing that. Hmm.

I wish I had your mom’s ability to cook from scratch without a recipe! I don’t know how people do it.

Christine Avatar

I totally understand! I find figuring out WHAT to cook to be one of the harder parts, and then buying just enough for two is nearly impossible. My mom is SO much better at buying a few things and being able to make multiple dishes out of them.

LOL, I am lucky to have her. When she visited during Christmas, she cooked so many things and stuck them in my freezer.

Fran Avatar

When I heard of Blue Apron, I thought, ‘what a great idea’! Good home cooking makes such a difference in life. It works out for me because my son and I take turns cooking, and I walk to our local food co-op daily to buy just the fresh ingredients we need (I stock up on basics at Target once a week or so, and avoid the giant supermarkets altogether). I buy us a new cookbook every few months to encourage us to try new recipes, but my son would rather search recipes online. Food Network recipes are usually reliable. But when my son was growing up and I did all the cooking I’d get really tired of it. Even now we often make enough to have planned leftovers later in the week. Most recipes are written for 4-6 people, and cutting them down to 1/2 or 1/3 isn’t always practical. We don’t mind eating the same thing twice in a week if we like it. We just serve it with a different side dish and wait a month or so to repeat it. What I think can get really hard is cooking just for yourself.

Christine Avatar

I feel like we have learned quite a bit about time management, basic cooking techniques, and we have been able to explore different cuisines. I’ve only had 2-3 recipes (and we’ve had it for over a year!) that we didn’t like (but they weren’t disgusting or anything), and we only JUST had our first repeat recipe (which we loved the first time, so we were happy to see it).

But it can definitely be hard to buy/cook for two, unless you’re good at managing leftovers or freezing, so it is great to hear that you have managed to conquer that! We are working on it, haha.

Fran Avatar

Christine, I’m glad Blue Apron is working for you! I actually think it’s an awesome idea. You are right that managing the leftovers is key when buying/cooking for two.

Tonight my son is making pasta with the tomato pesto he made week before last, and serving it with 3/4 of a bunch of asparagus — he used the first 1/4 in a stir-fry earlier in the week — and tapioca pudding that I made this morning (a double batch, enough to last us three days). Last night he made pizza (generating enough dough for two pizzas, so enough dough for another pizza is now in the freezer; and using some of the spicy tomato sauce he made last Saturday to go with a locally made frozen stromboli that we like to pop in the oven on lazy nights) and a Caesar salad, and we finished the last of the chocolate chip cookies he made earlier in the week. Friday I served round two of a vegetarian bean and rice casserole (flavored with poblano and chipotle peppers, sweet onion, garlic, and cumin, topped with melted Muenster or Monterey Jack cheese) that I made last Sunday, and we’ll have the last of it tomorrow night. On Friday I served it with a salad (using up the rest of the cucumber and mushrooms in the frig) and the chocolate chip cookies, so tomorrow I’ll see which green veg looks best in the market and cook that to go with it, and serve the tapioca pudding for dessert. Thursday I made a tuna and white bean salad with red onion and capers, served it over a big salad of mixed lettuce, tomato, cucumber, mushroom, and red onion, and we had a fresh half-baguette from the co-op on the side. (I had leftover tuna and white bean salad for lunch Friday and today). Wednesday I made rigatoni with the tomato sauce that my son made last Saturday; I added more sauteed veg to the sauce (needed to use up some mushrooms before they went bad) and served it with broccoli raab in garlic and oil (chocolate chip cookies for dessert). Tuesday my son made a shrimp and veg stir fry (using the last of the spicy peanut sauce he made a couple of weeks ago) to have over rice that was leftover from the day before (when we had baked salmon and a giant salad with it) and we finished off the brownies he’d made a few days earlier. So that’s a little over a weeks’ worth of menus at our place, some generating leftovers, some using leftovers, some doing both. I don’t eat meat, but we do have fish or egg dishes one to three times a week.

On my nights to cook later this week I think I’ll make baked ricotta with rosemary, and beans & greens sauteed in garlic & olive oil (using a container of navy beans I’ve got in the freezer), both served over toasted Italian bread one night; and a frittata (mayb spinach and parmesan, or zucchini and feta) and a salad the next night to serve with the bread while it’s still fresh (at least fresh enough to make good toast) the next night. Or, if there’s enough bread left over to make bread pudding, I might make baked fish with mashed potato and a cooked green veg and/or a salad. By Tuesday or Wednesday it’ll be time for one of us to make a new dessert. By next weekend it will be time for me to generate some new leftovers, so I may make vegetarian baked beans, cornbread, and cole slaw (I make a buttermilk dressing for the cole slaw to use up the buttermilk leftover from the corn bread recipe, which inconveniently calls for 2-1/2 cups of buttermilk). That gives us two complete dinners plus enough baked beans left over for at least third dinner with different sides, or for several lunches; plus I’ll cook extra beans in the crockpot and freeze them before combining the rest of the beans with the other ingredients for the vegetarian baked bean recipe. If I’m busy and don’t want to do all that cooking, I’ll ask my son to make a big batch of homemade macaroni and cheese.

Having two cooks in the house makes it so much easier! I am a much happier cook since my so is old enough to take on half the job. And he really hates wasting food, so he helps me stay on top of planning for using stuff up and not just thinking about what I feel like cooking.

My son is especially good at making sauces that get used over and over again (to be fair, several of them are recipes he’s taken over from me), whereas I’m more likely to spend time washing and chopping lots of ingredients to make a casserole or soup. And we’re lucky to be able to buy smaller amounts of some things at our food co-op. It’s great to be able to buy a half baguette instead of a whole one! If I need just a few dried apricots for a recipe, but they’ve packaged them in half-pound quantities, I can ask them to re-package just a few for me. I need 5-1/2 cups of whole milk for a double batch of tapioca pudding, so I can buy a quart plus a pint instead of a half gallon, and end up with a half cup left over instead of two and a half cups left over. If I need a half teaspoon of dried tarragon, I can buy a half teaspoon of it out of the bulk spices. The turnover on the bulk dried grains, beans, nuts, fruit, and herbs and spices is good enough that they’re fresh when you buy them and you can buy just what you need and not have whole jars of rarely-used spices sitting around for years going stale. I wish every neighborhood had a store like it!

Indya Avatar

I was kind of unfamiliar with it and my coworker loves it and sent me a free meal delivery. Probably if not for that, I don’t think I would have tried it. I’ll see how it goes, it certainly sounds like interesting recipes. I am just one person, but still manage to overspend on groceries that just end up rotting in the fridge… Hopefully this will help me cook more and spend less eating out.

Nicole Avatar

Oh that’s awesome! I hope it works out for you! I have the same issue. I get groceries home and then can’t figure out what I want to do with them, or I buy a typical size portion (like of meat or whatever) and then find that it’s way too much for me to finish on my own-which I usually discover right when it’s about to go bad and freezing it no longer seems like a good option.

haul: anastasia liquid lipstick in paint, urban decay blush in rapture, marc jacobs liner in blacquer and bite beauty amuse bouche lipstick in radish (both 100 pt perks at sephora) … and birchbox came yesterday
weekend plans: take a midterm D: and sleep and maybe see a movie
lazy day: sleep and/or brunch

thanks!
I like paint, I have a thing for dark blues (especially sparkly ones) so I feel like I probably didn’t need another blue lipstick but … I wanted it

Haul: Natasha Denona 5 pan palette in collection #10 (the shimmer is super beautiful without raising eyelid texture, but the matte shade fades so darn quickly)..still love the colours..perfect for me. IT cosmetics eyebrows pencils (super fine tip and I love the colours which run a bit sheerer and therefore look more natural IMO), the Sephora diamond eyeliners (LOVE!)
Weekend plans: Two of my big groan least favourite tasks: house cleaning and taxes
What’s your favorite thing to do on a lazy day?: cook and bake. I love futzing around in the kitchen when I have no pressure to do anything else but.

Hi Julia! Yes, the sparkle translates well on the liners I have tried so far. They do not just look black liners with a hint of sparkle, they are definitely very shimmery and lively looking. I just received them this week and I picked up the gold (Canary), platinum (Cushion Cut), pink (Bling Bling), ruby (Swagga), and blue (Iced Out). I have only tried the pink and the ruby so far (wearing the pink for the second day in a row) and I love them 🙂

Haul: I have been literally waiting on a mini Sephora haul with goodies from Bite Beauty. I’ve been staying in all day waiting for DHL, it’s a good thing I didn’t need to go anywhere else today! Hopefully by close of day it’ll have arrived, have been waiting half the week for it! I was in both times they came on Tues and Wed but they buzz so quickly that they don’t give you a chance to come to the handset. It’s harder because I’m deaf so find it hard to hear the buzzer especially if I’m on the other side of the flat. Maddening! As I was writing this they came! Magic! I have: 3 Matte Creme lip crayons in Blanc, Blood Orange and Framboise, a mini Amuse Bouche lipstick in Radish as well as 3 samples. Just swatched and the colours look wonderful. Blanc works well with Blood Orange, like in your review, not quite so well with Framboise or Radish. I’m very pleased though ?.

Feel unique.com: Laura Mercier radiance primer, NYX Milk jumbo eye pencil, Urban Decay b6 facial prep travel size spray, Salcura face cream, 2 samples.

MAC and John Lewis: 4 LE Flamingo Park eyeshadows in Hello There, Just Wing It, Flock & Roll and Bird’s Eye View. I read somewhere that apparently Europe/the UK sometimes has a slightly different lineup to the US in products. So the first 2 that I have aren’t sold in the US (I think – correct me if I’m wrong!) and obviously we don’t have the eye palette.

And…(drum roll)…Too Faced’s Chocolate Bon bons eye palette from Debenhams! I have had it in my basket for weeks, I wanted it but have so many palettes already so I waited to see if I still wanted it and I did. Swatched it and I’m in love! I could have bought the cheaper dupe in Makeup Revolution but I think it was worth buying the original.

Plans for weekend: None, just chill.

Fave thing to do on a lazy day? Read a book, drink lots of tea and eat lots of chocolate!

Haul- I received a sample of RCMA color process foundation. I’m a little disappointed looking at it. I ordered their lightest color (Porcelain) and they say it’s extremely pale, and being a pro makeup company with tons of colors, I figured it actually would be very pale. But… it doesn’t look all that pale, and it looks very pink (I prefer more of a neutral undertone). I’ll have to try it obviously. Maybe it’s just the bad lighting in my office and it will turn out to be a good match.
Weekend Plans – Corned beef and cabbage, hopefully
Lazy Day- watch movies

Ginny Avatar

They actually don’t have very many pale shades! (Super super pale, that is. They have plenty of light shades with different undertones, but for me it’s Porcelain or bust). I was surprised, again, since it is supposed to be a pro brand, you would think they’re equipped for absolutely every skin tone (good news is they seem to have several deep shades with both red and blue undertones). They do have what looks like a beige-ier color called Ivory, but I’m sure it would be too dark. But, they do make a pure white in the formulation, as well. I definitely don’t MIND mixing foundations to get a match (been doing it for years), so if I really like the wear of the foundation, I could buy one or two shades plus the white.

I’ll report back next free for haul 🙂

Haul: Too Faced Peanut Butter and Jelly Palette. I love the colors, so I’m very glad the scent is light. Sonia Kashuk Knock Out Beauty Matte Lipstick in Power Punch. I love the packaging and it’s comfortable on the lips. Milani Baked Blush in Corallista. It’s sooo beautiful; I’m glad I finally snagged one. OCC RTW Lip Tar in Structure.

Weekend plans: My younger son is really ill now, and the older one is still recovering, so taking care of them and grabbing sleep where I can.

What’s your favorite thing to do on a lazy day?: I can’t remember the last time I had a lazy day. Before I had kids, most likely.

Tammy B Avatar

I kinda miss taking care of my sick children. They don’t need me for that anymore?

I hope both your sons are feeling better soon!

Rachel R. Avatar

My oldest just turned 21, and the younger one is almost 19, but they’re special needs and don’t live with their girlfriends, so it’s up to me and hubby. I don’t mind. I just wish I could make them less miserable. This too shall pass, though.

Haul wise I have products that I need to replace that I finished and loved. This is a rare occurrence for me because I don’t tend to finish things. I jump from one thing to another all the time to give everything I have some love! It’s a nice feeling to finish something (well, as long as you can purchase another one). You know then that it was money well spent. And to finish a handful of products at the same time is a first for me! I finished:

Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray (best one I’ve ever used bar Urban Decay Deslick spray)
Clarins Double Fix’ Mascara (essential for my lower lashes to stop them flaking or smudging- this’ll be my fourth one!)
Bobbi Brown Tinted Eye Brightener in Porcelain Peach (this has been my saviour when it comes to dark circles- I have a special way of applying it that gives great coverage and this stuff sets so well, it doesn’t budge)
Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Pressed Powder in 7 White (a nice powder that doesn’t add any colour to my face- I do have other powders I like but this is my favourite pressed one)
MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation in NW10 (I always wanted to be able to use this powder foundation but I had no colour match, until they brought out NW10- not quite light enough but if I use it lightly and take it down my neck a bit, or if it’s the summer, I can get away with it)

(On a side note I also chucked out a bunch of old mascaras. Why I kept them I don’t know but it was cathartic getting rid of them! I’ve been busy spring cleaning the whole flat. ?)

Gillian Avatar

The Clarins mascara is a clear top coat, just in case you thought it was an actual mascara! It’s an extra step but so worth it I think. It’s got me through birthdays, funerals, weddings, chopping onions and any situation you can think of where your eyes water or you get a bit tearful!

You can put it on your top lashes too for extra protection depending on the situation but for everyday I just stick with the lower lashes to try and get through each tube as slowly as possible!

I really hope that if you get it it works for you. It works for me and with my watery eyes that’s saying something! Let me know how you get on! ?

Fran Avatar

Gillian, I’m going to try ‘Double Fix’! Thank you! Anastasia seems to have discontinued ‘Lash Genius’, and the one I have should have been retired months ago! The equivalent Bare Minerals product does not work for me for preventing lower lash smudging. I have heard good things about Ulta ‘Rain Coat’, but it’s nice to have more than one option!

Gillian Avatar

Hi there! I really hope that the mascara works for you. I can’t be without it, unless I fancy looking like a panda!

I use it with L’Oréal Voluminous mascara and it works really well, even though it was one of the worst offenders when it came to smudging. I love that particular mascara though, enough to get the Double Fix’ so I could wear it!

Let me know how you get on. It’s always nice to know about other people’s experiences with it. ?

Mellan looks so comfy on his little egg pillows!

Haul: My HG Lubriderm Daily Moisture Lotion w/ spf 15, and a Sinful Nail Polish x King Kylie called Miss Majesty, a lavender with a green-blue duochrome. It looks gorgeous in the bottle, but on me it’s not too great. Makes it look like my hands are “dirty”. Just weird!

Weekend plans: Do my weekly hair ordeal, but use no straightening balm or serum because I will be dying my roots sometime in the upcoming week. Still no tip wear, and only one chip after nearly a whole week wearing this unflattering nail polish, so who knows? Meeting on Sunday. Try to go to park afterwards.

Lazy day?: Wear sweats or something else I normally wouldn’t wear out in public! Listen to music, dance, bake some gf brownies, test drive new makeup combos before debuting them in public. Sip hot cocoa or sangria.

Katherine T. Avatar

LOL I have a light gold bronze nail polish that looks great in the bottle, but it makes my nails look like they are stained yellow, like I left my nail polish on for 2 weeks without removing it (ugghh). I have some yellow undertones, so the polish pulls yellowish on me. Fortunately, the bottle only cost $3 so no big deal. I’m sure the color looks great on others, just not me!

Nicole Avatar

I hope you have fun with your relatives Christine! Mellan looks so cute!

In my last haul I mentioned that I was getting that sample of lipstick from Bite Beauty in Radish and I hadn’t tried it by the time the post reviewing it was up, so I thought I would put in my two cents here-I don’t like it. The color is stunning as far as intensity goes, but I wore it for about four hours and I had two problems with it-it bled, even though lipsticks/glosses don’t do that to me and around the 3 hour mark of wearing it my lips got incredibly dry to the point where they started to tingle. So yeah, I don’t think the formula works for me. Also on a totally unrelated note, a few months ago I mentioned that I had depotted my colorpop eyeshadows because I wasn’t using them at all and hated how bulky the packaging was (and didn’t read the label informing me that that was a stupid thing to do), and some people said they were curious about how long the shadows lasted after that. I have your answer! It is: Not long. About 2-3 months before they totally dried out. I feel kind of whatever about it because I didn’t use them (not even once), but if you like your colorpop eyeshadows it’s a really good idea to not depot them, lol!

Haul: I got in a huge haul that I bought from zulily back in mid-February. I bought from a few different brands, but mostly from Guerlain. I’ve never really tried that brand before (just a bronzer that I’m still torn about), but now that I have I don’t know what I was thinking. I am over the moon in love with the products I got!

All of these are from zulily:

Lancôme: Creme-Mousse Confort Comforting Cleanser for Dry Skin and 13.5-Oz. Rehydrating Comforting Toner-this is my favorite cleanser/toner combo. I love having skin care products that can clean my skin without causing dry spots/flaking, which is my skin’s most common reaction to cleansers/toners.

Guerlain: Beige Clair Tenue De Perfection Timeproof Foundation, Maxi Lip Shine Gloss in Pink Clip, Praline Blop and Rouge Shebam, KissKiss Shaping Lip Cream Color in Miss Kiss, Red Passion and Excessive Rose, Rouge G Exceptional Complete Lip Color in Gilda and Garconne, High Precision Lip Liner in Pivoine Magnifica, Iris Noir and Rose de Mai, Brun Cendre Eyeliner, Ecrin 6 Couleurs Eye Shadow Palette in 66 Blouevard Du Montparnasse and Rue De Francs Bourgeois, Ecrin 4 Couleurs Eye Shadow Palette in Les Violines and Lacquer Nail Polish in Champs-Elysees, Jardin de Bagatelle and Vega.

These products were in three or four separate orders, but yeah. The foundation I bought knowing it was going to be way too dark for me-Guerlain doesn’t make a shade that would suit me, so I figured I would lighten it somehow since I really wanted to try that formula. I love the lipsticks. The color is beyond my expectations, and although I haven’t had a chance to work with many of the eyeshadows yet I have swatched them and they look promising. Les Violines in particular I’ve had my eye on for months but I didn’t want to pay full price for it. The stand outs for me though are the glosses and nail polishes. I cannot believe how much I love the lip glosses. They are stunning and so moisturizing for me-they work better than my lip balm! I just painted my nails with Champs-Elysees last night and I have never had an easier time painting my nails. I don’t know if it’s the formula or the brush, but it was an absolute joy.

YSL: Baby Doll Kiss and Blush color in Rouge Effrontee, Glossy Stain in Corail Alla Prima, Couture Eye Shadow Palette in Ballets Russes. Love all of them. The eye shadow palette in particular is so gorgeous.

And from Chanel, Le Crayon Levres Lipliner in Orange Intense.

Clearly I should never be left alone when a designer beauty brand is on sale. Never.

Weekend plans: I wish I knew. If this weather doesn’t stop being so gloomy I know what I’ll be doing-sitting in my home with a glazed look on my face. I don’t know how much more of gray skies I can take.

What’s your favorite thing to do on a lazy day?: If it’s really a lazy day, can I count having other people do things for me as one of my favorite things? I would really love an in-home chef, for instance.

I’m sorry this was so long!

Lol! I think I was the last one to know that >.>.

It really seems like it! I’m amazed by them all. I have never loved a gloss so much. I normally don’t like glosses much at all, but those have totally changed my mind.

Hey everyone. Sorry for not commenting much the past few days. It’s just been crazy busy with work and doctors appointments. This weekend, I have to travel to Louisville,Ky. So, I’m just going nuts getting ready for that!
Happy Weekend to you all! 🙂

Haul: I did three separate Sephora purchases and picked up the Urban Decay Color Corrector in Green (which works fantastically for my redness), and then got the Sephora Give Me Some Nude Lip set, and then should get in the post today a few of the still-remaining $10 deals- the Sephora Collection Face Mask Explorer Set (which has the Pearl, Rose and Lotus ones), the First Aid Beauty FAB Cleanse & Exfoliate Kit (I use both the cleanser and the facial radiance pads so I’m just getting some for cheaper), the Ole Henriksen Cleanse & Glow On the Go set (which has the African Red Tea Foaming Cleanser and the Clean Truth Cleansing Cloths in Brightening, and I’ve yet to really try out the brand but heard good things) and lastly the CLEAN Rollerball Layering Trio which I’m on the fence about and was definitely an impulse buy but I can always pass on any I don’t like.

I got a few point perks and promo code samples- the Marc Jacobs Beauty Fineliner deluxe sample in Blacquer, the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick deluxe sample in Radish, as well as some point perks that had been in my basket like the Sephora CollectionRouge Infusion Lip Stain and their Contour Eye Pencil Waterproof deluxe sample in My Boyfriend’s Jeans (a nice blue color), the Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer deluxe sample in 2, and the Skin Inc. Licorice Serum RELIEVE deluxe sample.

Then I went to my closest CCO the other day and got a few things as well- the MAC Wash & Dry collection bronzer in Delicates (which has bad reviews but it suits my ghostly pale complexion well and the one I got is not crazily-hard-pressed like I’ve heard about), a Bobbi Brown lip pencil in Rum Raisin, two Bobbi Brown blushes in Clementine and Plum, and the Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight mask and Mega Mushroom Skin Relief mask.

Weekend plans: recover from the week?

What’s your favorite thing to do on a lazy day?: depends, though nowadays I’m limited to things having to do with screens

Haul: HAHAHA! Finally! I got my my UD Firebird and SR Tidal. I got a few mini’s too including Bite’s Radish. So stoked. I spent the rest of my beauty budget from the tax return on my mom, getting her some SR goodies to try. There is just a bit left which will be going to my haircut fund.

Weekend plans: Cleaning! Hubby will be home for a week and then he’s gone again and I want to have the house pristine so he can relax even though he’s going to be crazy busy while he’s back.

What’s your favorite thing to do on a lazy day?: Sleep in, brunch, nap, daytime sex, nap, and eat a stupid carb loaded dinner full of pasta, cheese, and wine! Then go to bed semi early. Maybe take a walk with the dog instead of the first nap. Not lazy but spending time with Elroy is my #1 priority anytime I have free time. Maybe pup and couch cuddles with a movie instead of nap then!

Mellan is so cute! Happy weekend, Christine!

Haul: Nars The Multiples in Copacabana (stick); from the Boston Store Goodwill Sale (20% off pre-ordered cosmetics), Bobbi Brown haul Nude Finish Illuminating Powder, Skin Nourish Moisture Mask, Pink Sugar shimmer blush, and Nourishing Lip Color in Rosebud.

I also returned the Bite Blanc/White lip crayon. It had a gummy feel and an orange-like scent, both of which remained after application. It did alter the color of lipstick.

Weekend plans: going to the symphony and enjoying continued warm weather.
Lazy day: catch up on tv, go out for coffee or a late lunch.

Haul: MAC Nordstrom Now palette
Weekend Plans: Laziness – clean the house and then play with makeup, maybe take advantage of some end of season sales online or in stores, probably make more soup(s) for the week on Sunday. I’ve got a MAC makeover on Sunday scheduled so I’m excited for that!
Favorite thing to do on a lazy day: Lay around in my pjs and cook/bake while reading or watching my shows, or spend the morning playing with makeup and meeting my girlfriends for lunch.

My MAC So Select lipstick came in – shoot, forgot to add that to the haul and also MAC Silver Dawn – so I’m thinking I’ll take that in and ask if we can do a Spring look with that (Macy’s doesn’t carry it) or maybe I will ask him to do a look with Pastel x 9 palette. 🙂

Haul: (no joke) Random clearance Wet n Wild shadows at Dollar General. Comfort Zone is surprisingly nice to be a drugstore palette. I also ordered Vice 4 and that set of 5 travel UD liners (which were on sale for less than 1 regular size) from Sephora.

Weekend plans: major spring cleaning, trying to avoid committing a felony

Lazy day: sleep late!

I’d heard it was good, but never expected it to be good enough to hold its own against some of my higher-end palettes…especially that duochrome in the lower right-hand corner! ?

Cute, sweet Mellan!
Haul, I got a bunch of nail products trying to make my nails healthier and happier. All from Depend, I’m not sure it’s available in the US, or anywhere else for that matter. A nail oil, a stop splitting gel, a nightly streangth giving product that you paint on the nails at bedtime and wash off in the morning, a ridgefilling polish and a pale shimmery greyish lilac polish. I just had to add something fun.
I also bought some bath products form Bodyshop, English Rose, I think the range is called. I liked the scent.
Weekend plans, nothing exciting or fun. I must try to sort my book storing, All my bookcases are filled to the limit and then some, and I have bought a lot of sewing books and books on Art Noveau lately.
Lazy day, sleep in, move to sofa, watch TV shows and/or movies, and having someone else fixing the food.

Haul: Alterna Replenishing Moisture Milk Leave-In Conditioner and… I don’t know. It’s been a sleep-deprived week so my memory is a bit hazy.
Weekend plans: Sleep! Try to catch up on emails and messages.
What’s your favorite thing to do on a lazy day?: Read

Regarding the Estee Edit Purr Pink blush, it blended out well with my Goss #14 brush, but I’m not thrilled with the color itself (on me). It is almost the exact shade of the redness I used to have problems with all over my face, and that I’m currently experiencing in smaller areas. I don’t think it’s going to work for me. =(

Haul: no makeup, skin or hair care this week — too many other expenses!
Weekend plans: I’m finally starting to tackle the reorganization of my bedroom/office/hobby workroom! Getting this done once and for all is going to be a 60th birthday present to myself, so I’m going with the KonMari method, since there’s a promise that it will stick!
Favorite thing to do on a lazy day: read 🙂
