The Summer Season: NARS Schiap Lipstick
NARS Schiap Lipstick ($24.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a bright, fuchsia-pink with a semi-matte finish. It has no shimmer, but it does have a slightly glossy sheen, so it doesn’t a completely matte finish. Schiap applies beautifully–soft, smooth, and the color looks even with little effort. I like that it’s not totally matte, because I think if it was, this shade might be drying. The slight creaminess and glisten to it give it enough moisture to keep from drying your lips out (but if you have really dry lips, I recommend prepping well before wearing this). NARS lipsticks are scent-free and taste-free (though you might detect a wax-y scent). I got about four hours of wear before it started fading, but it held on pretty well.

This is my only Nars lipstick! When I saw it, I just had to have it even though this doesn’t flatter my skin so much.
SUCHHHH a pretty color but so drying! 🙁 Plus, it smells like the stuff I use to bleach my hair.
I have this shade and I love it. It is so vibrant and pigmented and it stays on forever. I never need to touch up because by the end of the day, it clings on like a lip stain. However, I do find Schiap quite drying on my lips.

Is it worth having both? I have Milani’s Rose Hip, but I am addicted to ultra bright pinks like this. Is this a near dupe or a few shades brighter?

I love the fact that this hot pink lippie from NARS doesn’t have any blue tone on it. It’s perfect for my color, especially when I wanna be unique from all the rest! 🙂

I used to wear this in my ’20s and I loved it; on me it was edgy and oh so cool. I don’t know if I could pull it off any more but it’s one of my favourites
This is one of my fave hot pink lipsticks along with petals & peacocks and impassioned. I just find schiap drying on my lips you really need to put a lip conditioner first before applying this. One thing i discovered also is to layer schiap and pink nouveau it really tones down the brightness of the color and the outcome is a beautiful bubblegum/barbie pink color.
By the way, i think of all the hot pink lipsticks you featured here i like this one on you the most. Also, i really love this lipstick review you do. The photos are very clear. Thanks Christine … i really enjoy your site.

Oh, wow… so hard to say! MAC Fabulously Fuchsia would be it, even though that IS limited, lol. Maybe Frenzy or Indulgent by Illamasqua!

We all have different natural lip colors, which may make lipsticks look slightly different or for one to be seemingly more pigmented/less pigmented 🙂
Im Asian and have a yellow skin tone. Will this shade be ok with my skin tone?
This color is so beautiful on me! I must say 🙂 but it is too drying and didnt last an hour. Not sure if they changed the formula?? It is still a creamy texure but matte at the same time. So upset I had to send this back. Still looking for replacement….

Christine! i really need your help with this! I’m an olive skin tone with black hair. I’ve been researching with lipstick colors and getting really into it. I want a lilac color (so i thought of MAC’s love forever!), pink (MAC pink nouveau), and a fuschia color (this one – NARS schiap OR MAC girl about town?) but i’m not so sure if all these lipstick colors are too similar? This color is so pretty but it looks so intimidating!
Love Forever/Pink Nouevau are different enough from Schiap/Girl About Town – but you’d only need one of each!

Will this shade suit NC15? Will pigmented lips alter the color? How does it compare to MAC’s Candy Yum-yum?
I think it’d work! It’s not as bright as Candy Yum Yum, and it’s pretty opaque, so it should still work out on pigmented lips.
