*I can’t even remember the last time I used loose blush. With my cheeks being a blush-eating monsters, pressed blush probably sticks better and it’s easier to re-apply

While I don’t have NEARLY as many loose blushes as pressed, I do really love mine and should use them more. The shade selection and availability in loose formulas are incredible. If you’re having trouble finding a specific, unique color in pressed blushes chances are you can find it somewhere loose. And if you’re a fan of high-sheen and/or glitter blushes then loose powders rock. I also enjoy the blendabiiity of loose powder blushes since you can really customize a shade or blend smoothly with contour powders, highlight powders, bronze powders, other blush shades etc.
Still, they will never be as quick and convenient as pressed powder or cream, etc. Usually they do not have mirrors included since often it’s jar packaging and they are certainly not travel-friendly of course ha (though if you want to bring some with you, a good way is to use a retractable face brush and a protective baggie. Add some loose product to your brush before you leave, retract and bag it, have another application on you! But that’s not convenient and easiest on big nights out). And as with any loose powder, they can be a bit messy and require a careful eye/storage.

For sure 🙂 I find for my tastes personally indie brands produce my favorite loose blushes. Geek Chic Cosmetics has absolutely beautiful ones that run the gamut from more natural-looking colors to intense shining purples, oranges, and hot pinks. Aromaleigh also has some absolutely lovely ones. And Fyrinnae of course does them great justice as well. My Pretty Zombie has loads of unique colors (even things like dark blues) with great quality. My favorite loose contour is from Pumpkin and Poppy (Oak Bark). These brands also offer things like loose highlights, contours, bronzers, etc if you want to try loose powders together for layering and customizing a great look.
I really like them! I only have a couple, but they both blend very easily and look very soft and natural on, without the powdery look that pressed blushes can sometimes have. I agree that they’re messy and I don’t like to take them with me on trips!
Rave: Long-lasting, blendable, natural-looking color. Versatile.
Rant: They tend to be highly pigmented, so I have to be careful not to use too much for my fair skin. It’s not the most travel-friendly form of blush. It can be messy.
I’ve actually never purchased a loose powder blush. I think I’m more a cream blush and pressed powder blush person. Similar feelings about eyeshadows actually. I like the effects achieved and layering capabilities of loose products, but I don’t like dealing with them and tend to avoid the shadows I do have in loose form.

Loose blush? I can only remember my mother using this back in the last century….
I don’t use it and never will. I could forsee a big mess on me, the counter….. nope.
I think I had like one loose blush, and it was a BareMinerals one my sister gave me. I find them to be to messy, and I also find it hard to get the right amount on my brush so I end up looking like a clown. I gave that one away and stick to powder blush.
Loose blushes are not my friend – I somehow always manage to spill some on me or on the floor. Also I have a tendency to take too much at once sometimes, so it’s more of user error than anything. I also haven’t found any loose blushes that I like enough to keep. So, I’ll stick with the powder and cream versions.
Strange as this may sound, I am not even certain that I have ever owned a loose blush! So I have only one deciding factor when it pertains to whether I would try one: Scunci. ? So probably not!
I don’t really have a rant. It’s certainly less convenient than pressed, but not enough to make me disdain it. All but two of my blushes are loose, mostly because the companies I prefer to buy from sell (almost exclusively) loose powder cosmetics. I like my blushes because of their finishes, textures, and colors — the packaging has never been the point.
I have a couple BareMinerals loose blushes but, as others have mentioned, they are messy and hard for me to apply well. I prefer pressed or creme.
I love mine and use them often, but have more than I can. They tend to multiply, I custom blend. You often get an abundant amount of product in one jar, they are so highly pigmented a little goes a long way and the deeper jewel tone shades especially anything red can stain your skin a little. So those shades are long lasting, but they totally multitask. And generally really inexpensive by comparison to pressed. Since they are mostly mineral if you store them away from light and damp, they will have a very long shelf life. I still have an old terracotta mineral one from the 80s my mother bought, after she turned her entire face orange I inherited it. Still good, although at this point I would be afraid to put it on my skin, it makes a nice shade of polish and I mostly use it for art/craft things. But they are definitely not portable, travel is fine since I use a separate cosmetic case and ziplock bags, not for everyday. I would never carry one in my purse. I like my pressed for the convenience but for shades loose can’t be beat.
Love that they’re usually more intense. Hate the mess.
I actually went on a quest this last year to find elf loose powder blush in “joy”. Such a gorgeous color. I got 2 before they discontinued them. Similarly to loose eye-shadow, highlighters, bronzer- the shade range is beautiful but the application is cumbersome, so I hardly reach for them because I’m usually in such a rush. Has anyone ever pressed their loose blushes eye-shadow ect? I think it needs a binding powder added right? That’s my fantasy, to press all my loose product so I will actually use them!!
I have two that I never use because they aren’t flattering colors. (Which has now reminded me to get them out of my life and into the life of someone else.) I’ve seen a few that have have piqued my interest but, because I can’t be certain of the color or performance from swatches I’ve seen online (other bloggers tend to swatch them too heavily/don’t blend them out), I haven’t felt compelled to purchase more.
I’ve never tried a loose blush! I’d be scared of it being too pigmented, I prefer a light pinky glow and feel good about how this is accomplished with what I own now so I’m not too tempted!
Loose blush is super customizable 🙂 You can get sheerer ones that look very natural and light and can be built up or get super pigmented intense colors. Just like with pressed blushes, there’s a range of finishes and intensities available.
I just don’t like them usually. All rant here!
