Dolce & Gabbana Laguna Eyeshadow Duo Review, Photos, Swatches

Dolce & Gabbana Midnight Bloom Collection

Dolce & Gabbana — Summer Preview — Laguna Eyeshadow Duo

Laguna Eyeshadow Duo ($36.00 for 0.17 oz.) is new for Dolce & Gabbana’s summer collection (due out in May), and I’m excited to show you a sneak preview of this perfect-for-summer duo! It includes a softly teal-shimmered muted sky blue and a rich, blackened forest green with gold and green shimmer.

At first, I thought that the bluish side was like Benefit’s Mermaid Eyeshadow, but it’s not. It’s more like a blue version, if anything, but after looking at both, they’re definitely not similar. The forest green shade originally reminded me of NARS Night Porter, but the finish is softer and smoother and it’s a shimmer/sheen rather than a glitter finish.

The texture of Dolce & Gabbana eyeshadows is amazing. It’s soft, smooth, and buttery. I love that Dolce & Gabbana puts out colors amongst more muted shades, too, because I think it gives them more variety. But even better is that their colors actually show-up true-to-pan!

Surprisingly, Dolce & Gabbana is cheaper by the ounce than NARS Eyeshadow Duos–$211/oz. vs. $228/oz. (and not so surprisingly, cheaper than NARS, Make Up For Ever, and MAC singles), but you do get the luxe, “gold” metal casing for your buck, too (but it does hold fingerprints as is typical with metal packaging). I’m actually surprised that these are priced so similarly to NARS Eyeshadow Duos, because the Dolce & Gabbana line-up is more comparable to Chanel and Dior in terms of pricing, typically.

Recommendation: If you love really smooth eyeshadows that go on like butter, Dolce & Gabbana Eyeshadow Duos hit the mark. If you’ve been hunting for a blue that’s not too bright or overwhelming, you may find this duo works well. I think this duo in particularly is suitable for both cool and warm skin tones, too!

Love the Duo. Hmm I’m going to have to find a Dolce & Gabbana counter first – I’ve never noticed one before here in Canada. I’ll probably find it at Holt Renfrew….

This is sad…. I really want this duo after seeing the good review by Christine.

Do you guys think this looks similar to Nars Cleo (e/s duo)? Cleo is more teal and this is more green.

Kristina Avatar

They are supposed be coming to Holt’s sometime this year. You can order D&G from Saks.com They ship to Canada for a reasonable rate inclusive of duties etc.

Well… it’s not really reasonable if you buy a single product. A $20 D&G nail polish costs over $20 for shipping. It’s incredible… in Canada we can’t get this stuff. I’m hopping over to Italy for work soon… and rest assure, I’m stocking up for my wife.

The green is absolutely gorgeous, but I’m not keen on blues! Gah! I’ll have to see if I have a dupe of that green in my massive collection. If not, this may be my first D&G duo!

I am usually a more of a safer eye type of a girl (hey a wild look is a blue smoky eye for me) but with the resurgence of Coral Colors I am more adventurous in my eye shadows lately. I love these colors, but will probably go for a knock off look of these colors and play!

The only D&G counters I know of are located in in New York (Saks), London, Milan and Florence. Does anyone know of others? It’s still a really exclusive line. But I still have a growing list of D&G eyeshadows, lipsticks, blushes I want to try! One day! That green color is so beautiful. :p

I love the green. I always liked the color concept of Night Porter, but hated the glitter. I’ll definitely take a look at this one. Even though I’m not crazy about the blue, the green might make it worthwhile.

Wow, this looks nothing like the promo pics.

It is a beautiful duo, but I am a little let down, because I was expecting a bright emerald/forest green. Did you also receive the fuschia nail polish?
