The Spring Season: NP Set Havana Lipstick

NP Set Havana Lipstick ($15.00) is a soft, creamy medium pink with a subtle pink shimmer. This is an easy-to-wear shade for just about any skin tone, because it’s not too yellow or blue-based–very much neutral. It has a very soft feel when applied to lips and not at all drying. I got about three hours of wear with this shade in particular. There’s a bit of a glossy sheen to it, but I still like to layer a lipgloss on top for extra pop.

Is this the right pink lipstick for you? Would you wear it?

The Spring Season is a series of posts featuring my favorite soft beige, coral, and pink lipsticks and lipglosses — all perfect for the first blossom of spring — that runs through March 2010.

Wow, I’m shocked at the color on the lips from the color of the actual lipstick. The lipstick looks more nude but looks slightly pink on the lips (probably because your lips are natural and the pigment may not be high on the lipstick), but LOVE the result. It doesn’t look dry (like I feel most lipsticks are), but doesn’t look gloppy so my hair won’t stick to it.

To try NP set I bought this lipstick whilst on vacation in the US, it was the worse thing I ever put on my lips. I don’t know if i got a bad tube, but this would not cover my lips and my lips are only slightly more pigmented than yours. When I tried to layer it and it would end up in a goopy mess. It is so soft in the tube that it cannot take the slightest pressure from a lip brush or it gets mushy. Too bad though, it is a great colour.

i agree with noel. christine, this is a super pretty color but how similar would you say it is to angel? if the two are similar it’s pretty funny that this (drugstore?) brand is priced a whole dollar higher than mac’s angel.

I was just wondering if you get all this stuff to try for free or do you just have a ton of money?

I’m not trying to be rude.
I really just want to know if it is a perk of running this site.

Stunningly beautiful. I like how it sits on your lips as well as the colour. Good coverage with a nice creamy look. I love it. Thanks for showing it, Christine. 🙂

thanks for the follow-up, christine. btw, i have to tell you, after seeing you without makeup in a few of these segments on your blog, i think you’re a very naturally pretty lady. i hope all of the wear-and-tear from so many products you test on your face for us does not harm your skin in the long-run. God bless.

Aww, well, thank you! I’ve been trying to test less skincare, and I imagine I will probably taper off a bit more over the next few years as I find things that really work with me… love the way my skin looks… and be hesitant to muck with that, LOL!

I really want this shade to work for me because i want to have a pink that is not bright nor too pale…just natural. But if its like Mac Angel, it won’t. I tried Angel last week and the MAC MA shook her head no and I too thought it was too bright for me. I am medium N30-35 and will once again head to the store to try this one as i have a gift card to use up at Target! : )

Oh, I love it! I bought TWO tubes of Viva Glam Gaga after trying it at the store, but I’m having second thoughts (it’s too cool, methinks). Maybe Havana’s the ticket instead!

How similar would you say this is to CHANEL’s Ming? Your swatches look nearly identical in color — would you say it’s worth owning both?
