A synthetic brush for liquid foundation, something lightly domed, moderately dense, small-to-medium in size. A medium crease brush with a more rounded edge with light density. A paddle cheek brush for blush with some spring and density and a more domed edge. A dome-shaped, small-to-medium eyeshadow brush with a few mm of thickness so it could also blend. A large pencil-style crease brush with a rounded edge.

MAC 217, 239. Hakuhodo J146. Coastal Scents Bionic Flat Top. Nars #47. Chanel #4.
Based on the brushes I use the most: a flat shader brush to apply eyeshadow all over the lid; a fluffy angled brush for outer corner and crease; a round, soft brush for crease and/or blending; a thin angled eye-liner/brow brush; a synthetic round flat-top brush for foundation; a soft and dense large domed brush for powder; a medium to small round, soft brush for blush.
Oh gosh, errrr, let me think… Two flat eyeshadow brushes in two sizes, one smaller one and one bigger one, a good blending brush, a pointed tapered crease brush, a pointed pencil brush, an eyebrow brush, a super precise angled eyeliner brush, a big fluffy powder brush, a kabuki brush and a blush and contour brush. Oooh oooh, and some retractable portable powder brushes too!
MAC #239, #208, #217 , #116 and Oval 6 Brush.
For eyes, I love my double ended spoolie/angled brush for eyebrows, and the double ended flat/crease brush that came with Naked2, its a simplementation set to travel with. I could make a set just for cheek brushes though! An angled powder brush, a stippling brush, and a fluffy domed duo fiber, plus a smaller fluffy domed duo fiber for highlighter, and a bronzer brush. For face, the UD airbrush brush for their liquid foundation and a flat but fluffy brush for finishing powder, and I’d probably throw a lip brush in too. I think the cheek brushes are the most important though, because the right brush can make or break your blush, bronzer, and highlighter.
I’d included brushes like the following: my wonderful little Shiseido foundation brush; Sephora Pro Cream eyeshadow brush (for concealer AND cream shadows); a MAC 239 and 217; a Sephora smudger brush; the Smashbox #15 Detailer brush, an angled blush brush and something fluffy but not too too large or fluffy for setting/finishing powders. All with fairly short handles (easier for packing). Oh, and a retractable lipstick brush.

These are basically the brushes I take away with me on holiday in my little brush roll. They’re my absolute favourite brushes ever!
I’ll say this much, whatever I would put together would be made ENTIRELY of non-animal, hypoallergenic, synthetic materials!!! Oooh, and very beautifully crafted handles with say, orchids or lilies painted and laquered over on them! I believe others who posted before me covered the perfect brush head types beautifully! Especially the perfect idea of 2 flat eyeshadow brushes in 2 different sizes: BRILLIANT!!!
good quality long handled kabuki brush and long handled mini buki brush. the minis are so great for getting around nose and under eyes.
A large rounded brush for setting powder
An angled brush for blush
A flat shade brush for eye shadow on lid
A dense brush for applying main eye shadow colour
A fluffy brush for blending
A thin brush for adding colour to the corners and crease
I’d include a paddle brush like the MAC 239 and a blending brush similar to the Wayne Goss 06 brush. A synthetic base shadow brush similar to the one by Real Techniques and a smaller blending brush like the MAC 222. For face, a brush like the Real Techniques buffing brush that could be used for powder or foundation. I’d also add a domed blush brush similar to the one in the Sonia Kashuk line. Lastly, a face brush similar to the Real Techniques Multitask brush.. Oh and an angled liner brush! I clearly use too many brushes 🙂
Honestly, I can’t improve upon the collection I’ve managed to slowly find, piece by piece… My favorites are in my stash & I could not be happier now, especially since the addition of SephoraXHakuhodo, so I guess I wouldn’t make one.. (Cop out for this makes me think way too much) 😉
