Sponsored: QVC's TSV -- ghd Eclipse Professional 1" Styling Iron for $179!
Are you ready for Today’s Special Value at QVC? It’s the ghd Eclipse Professional 1″ Styling Iron, which normally retails for $245, but it is available for $179 today only, July 6th!
The ghd Eclipse Professional 1″ Styling Iron is designed to deliver a consistent 365°F (185°C) temperature and can straighten, curl, flip, add volume, all while reducing frizz. In 2014, it won Allure Magazine’s Best of Beauty award for Hot Tool/Flatiron. It uses six sensors, three on the top plate and three on the bottom plate, to keep the temperature consistent while you’re using it. The contoured, precision plates help you style your hair with smooth, snag-free styling. ghd says it heats up in a mere 20 seconds, making it ideal for those who are short on time. It contains aerogel technology that keeps the exterior cool to the touch, while the iron also comes with a heat guard and will shut off automatically after 30 minutes. The Styling Iron also features universal voltage, so you can travel with it wherever you’re going!
I love that the very first word is sponsored. I don’t mind sponsored content. I know people need to make money, but I hate seeing or watching something and wondering. I like videos that tell me in the beginning that it’s sponsored or blogs like this.
Thank you for understanding the need for sponsored content from time to time, Staci! 🙂
You so rarely do sponsored content Christine, considering the sheer volume of reviews you put out! Its so impressive!
I try to keep a good balance 🙂
I agree, Staci! Christine is one of the few people who do honest and high quality reviews. I hope she’s well compensated for all of her time and effort!!
Thanks, Jaimie!
Anytime I see a youtuber raving about something I’m always waiting for the “and they were so kind to offer a discount code to my subscribers…) I’m like yup there we go. SPONSORED. I do not trust any of them anymore. Christine is the only one I trust 100% if she says a product is great I will order it blindly and know that she’s not lying to us, and if she says something is not good I won’t touch it with a 10 foot pole. After years of visiting her blog I have never been disappointed with any of the products I have bought based on her recommendations. And it’s because of things like this post she maintains her credibility with me. So thank you Christine for all you do. I visit your blog multiple times every single day and won’t buy anything online before I know what you think of it first.
Since I’m on the other side, I can say from my personal experience that sometimes discount codes are genuinely just for the audience (there’s no kickback/commission), but they can definitely be paid-for as a flat fee or there can be a commission associated with any sales made using that discount code. They are often connected to a commission, though. It’s probably at the point where if there’s no kickback, it should still be disclosed (kind of like when I purchase something, I disclose that I did, in fact, purchase it) so there’s no confusion either way, especially as there is still some confusion as to what should or shouldn’t be disclosed and where across different platforms and social media!
Thank you so much, Alis! 🙂
Wanted to add my 2¢ – I love your blog and I don’t mind at all you doing sponsored content (and thanks for the transparency of the first word being sponsored). I sincerely hope you are well compensated for all of the hard work you put in on Temptalia. That being said, I think I would prefer makeup or brush or nail sponsored posts instead of hair.
Thank you, Averymae! 🙂 I have seen that most readers understand the need for sponsored content, and there’s always a right and wrong way to go about it, so I appreciate your suggestion!
Make sure to read the reviews on this item. I checked it out of curiosity. It has received MANY negative reviews. Sure you can always return it but you still lose. You have to pay postage twice.
I checked reviews across a few sites, including QVC, based on your comment, and it seems like there are a lot of 4-5 star reviews and then 1-star reviews (not a lot in-between), so definitely worth reading reviews!
I don’t use hot tools on my hair, but I also wanted to expand on Staci’s comment: this is the kind of honesty that makes me love this site. As far as I’m concerned, sponsorships help you continue to purchase products to provide us with great reviews, and it’s certainly not like every other post is sponsored.
Thanks Christine for consistently providing the transparency that has us always trusting your reviews and recommendations!
They certainly do! Thank you for also understanding, Sarah! 🙂 It means a lot!
I have the classic GHD and the 2″ GHD. I wonder how/ if the eclipse is different/better. It looks sleeker
It does have a more modern edge to it — I think it’s the gray, haha.
I know that they could be genuine sometimes but you just never know anymore, especially since they rarely disclose that they are being sponsored and act like the product is the best thing ever. I was watching a video the other day and the girl started talking about this game on her ipad and she went on and on about how great the game is and I thought to myself “she must really like this game” and then the next day another big youtuber was raving about the same game and that’s when I knew it was sponsored but at no point did they mention that. Like I said, I only trust you and I absolutely don’t mind the sponsored stuff and if you did them more often I wouldn’t mind that either. Keep up the amazing work!
I completely understand, Alis! I have seen some of the same as well (on blogs, YouTube, and social media). I think most are understanding, like you, but it’s so important that it is disclosed early on and not buried somewhere (or nowhere)!
Thank you 🙂
