The Spring Season: Maybelline Warm Me Up Lipstick

Maybelline Warm Me Up (#235) Lipstick ($7.49) is a beautiful shade of slightly milky-medium pink with a yellow undertone. It has just a smidgen of shimmer and a very creamy look. It’s smooth, easy to apply, and wears well for a solid three to four hours. I love that it’s a full color coverage shade, too–it gives me a quick and easy, everyday pink that I can wear alone or with smoked out eyes. Maybelline’s ColorSensational Lipstick line is really impressive–the shades I’ve tried so far have been wearable, creamy, and pack good color pigmentation to boot. If you’ve been hoping for a more affordable yellow-based pink, this might be it!

Is this the perfect pink lipstick for you? Would you wear it?

The Spring Season is a series of posts featuring my favorite soft beige, coral, and pink lipsticks and lipglosses — all perfect for the first blossom of spring — that runs through March 2010.

That color looks really nice on you. I have a tough time trying to pull off pinks, I think cause my lips are so pigmented to begin with but I might try this one out.

This is one of my favorite lipsticks!!! The store I bought this from was selling it for…5 bucks each and I had a 2 dollar off coupon…yay for 3 bucks!!!

Everytime I go to the drugstore to pick up a shade you recommend (usually a Maybelline), they are sold out! You certainly do recommend the good, popular ones 🙂

Such a pretty pink on you! However, on my nc37-40 semi pigmented lips it looks like a piky nude. Very neutral, perfect for everyday. Pinks like this (the way they look on you i mean) get lost on my lips =/

the color is so pretty and it is a warm pink that is great for everyday wears. i might buy this. how does this shade and formula compare to chanel in exquise that is also features in the sping look? thanks.

Looks like a very pretty pink. Very natural and not overdone. I’d prefer something a bit paler for myself just to tone down the colour in my lips. I’m a mac girl, but I might have to check out Maybellline. Weird question, but how does this smell compared to mac?

I really disliked the one ColorSensational lipstick I tried. I can’t remember the shade, but it was something coral? I loved the colour (just not on myself) but the formula left my lips looking.. childish. Even if my lips were hydrated or free of cracks/flakes, it went on with those unattractive crease lines, and seemed to collect around certain areas. Didn’t seem to deposit the colour 100% evenly and smoothly either. Perhaps it’s just the individual colours? But overall, I shy away from that line. I have swatched one of their Moisture Extreme lipsticks (my sister’s, I was curious!) and I really loved the formula. I guess my lips work best with hydrating formulas!

I love that shade. I wear MAC lipsticks almost exclusively, but I might have to pick this up! Do you find these to have a waxy or play-doh smell? I bought two when they first came out and the smell turned me off, but this looks like just the pink I’ve been looking for. Definitely pink but not too PIIIIINK.

Its me again….I just picked this up at Walmart for $5.50 with a $2.00 off coupon so final cost was $3.50 (I love Sunday coupons). In my previous comment I said I didn’t think I could pull off pinks but this one is actually working for me. Thanks again Christine.

Thanks for putting some Maybelline lippies in here too. I bought the Caramel Kiss you liked and I love the color. So I’ll buy this one too. I don’t find they’re that creamy though, they seem a little dry to me. Is it just me?

i have this color too but when applied on my lips its darker — more like a darker pink. I wish it would look like this on my lips! This color kinda reminds me of Rimmel’s Airy Fairy.

I love love this lipstick thank u so much christine!!! i just got this after seeing ur review and so I just had to get it 😀 unfortunately i have really pigmented lips so this lipstick is not as pinky as i thought it would be but thats ok i still love it 😀

hmm, perhaps its the lighting within your photos I own this particular lipstick and its more shot through with brown rather than pink. Your pictures actually remind me more of Color Sensational Lipstick in 025 Pink Please than 235 Warm Me Up. But either way, I have both and Love them. I actually own several from the Pinks, Neutral and Red lines of Color Sensational

This color looks very brown on me but Plaza Pink looks just like your swatches. It always amazes me to see how much lip color can change the way a lipstick looks on different people.

Are you sure this is Warm Me Up? This shade, at the drugstore is in the “brown” color family of shades and looks very nude-y brown. I of course couldn’t swatch to confirm but even the swatch on your hand looks verrrry different from what I’d expect Warm Me Up to look like. And the l/s itself doesn’t look that way either…

This is really pretty. I haven’t bought a drugstore lipstick in over a year. I love their mascaras, eyeliners, some shadows and more, but I can’t usually find a good drugstore lipstick so I go for the middle of the road price lipsticks like in the MAC price range. It is great to see a drugstore lipstick that is pretty and looks smooth not dry which is what I am used to at the drugstore. I cannot afford the $35 lipsticks that you post sometimes…although I am tempted I know I just can’t do it, but this is really nice to have a lipstick that I want that is lower in cost than I usually go for. Great price point. Kudos and thanks for letting us know:)

I went to CVS to buy this today and they only had 1 left… looks like there are a lot of Temptalia readers in my area 🙂
This color is nothing like what I expected from your pictures – even in the tube, it’s much more of a dusty-rose color – not really pink at all. It was even in with the “naturals” rather than the “pinks”.
Regardless, I like the color… but I’m still searching for my yellow-based pink!

muffingrl Avatar

i picked this up today and i’m pretty disappointed in the color. my super pigmented lips turned this into a dark mauve instead of a nudy pink 🙁
i guess i’ll take it back tomorrow and choose another shade, suggestions, anyone?

Lauren Avatar

🙁 i just got this because i saw it on ur amazing site [i check like everyday!<- woah, obsesive..]and in the tube its a gold shimmered-plum which looks nothinggg like this. like i checked the numbers and everything! its like a reddish-plum with warm undertones on me, i mean its gorgeous and great for fall, but i want urs, the warm tone milky pink..:(

I was really excited to try this out, because I’ve looking for a pink just like this–but when I bought #235 Warm Me Up it’s just so brown. ;_; It’s brown on the packaging, it’s brown in the tube, and it’s brown on my lips. (It’s even stocked with the “Naturals”, not with the “Pinks.”) I wish I had read the other comments more thoroughly first; I was so looking forward to the beautiful pink you’re wearing.
