Bright Makeup: Let's Go to the Tropics with Yellow, Green, & Blue

Bright Makeup: Let’s Go to the Tropics with Yellow, Green, & Blue

I was getting a little tired of pink and purple, so I had to go with something totally different but still fun! Happy Friday all! 🙂

You will need the following…

For eyes, start by applying Soft Ochre paint pot as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249. With the 239 and water-based mixing medium (or water), apply Stacked 2! pigment (light gold-green) all over the lid area. Using the 239, apply Going Bananas eyeshadow on the inner third of the eyelid. Next, apply Bio Green eyeshadow on the middle third of the eyelid and lightly blend with the inner corner. Lightly layer Shimmermoss eyeshadow on the middle-to-outer portion of the eyelid. Darken the outer third of the lid with Freshwater eyeshadow with the 239, gently brushing it into the lower crease. Lightly blend Electric Eel eyeshadow, with the 226, on the outer corner and lid. Lightly tap and brush Going Bananas eyeshadow directly above the crease to soften. To finish the eyeshadow look, sweep Nylon eyeshadow as a highlighter on the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying 7L eyeliner on the lower lash line and Going Bananas eyeshadow lightly patted below the lower lash line with the 219 brush. Finish by sweeping lashes with Plushlash mascara.

For cheeks, apply Sugarbomb blush to the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116.

For lips, apply Victorian lipstick first, and then layer Gold Dust lipglass for a complementing lip.

Hi Kristi,

Sorry you didn’t like it – I just do my makeup on how I feel or build a look around new colors or ones I want to show how they work/look in an application. I don’t mind repeating myself, because there are some looks that I enjoy and want to do again or try it with different products 🙂

You’re an artist.
I always had the question: how do u distinguish between cool colours and warm colours? For example the Victorian lipstick…is it cool-toned or warm-toned?
Also, if you have warm colouring, this means you look better with warm tones, right?
Keep up the good work!

Love, love , love!!! You really made the colors popped and so bright. Very well-blended. One of my favorite combos of colors….

I tried using these colors…but somehow didn’t come out as good as you did. Always turned out quite light. Perhaps, I always use a light hand…sigh….that’s my problem….too careful to use a heavier hand…;)

I usually used MAC Bright Future and Haunting, plus Artistic License technokohl liner. Just love this combo. And guess you are right. The base I used is MAC Cream Color Base in Pearl but find it a bit too oily for my lids….
*shame shame….I don’t even have a Painterly/Soft Ochre Paint Pot *blushing…

Stoooop iiittt! You keep using Victorian in ways that make me LOVE IT and I’m already creeping past my spending limit for this collection. You’re so evil 😉 I’m going after work today to get my haul (yay for it coming out during a paycheck week!) and I’m worried it will be bigger than it should be. I have two B2M sets and I told my boyfriend I would probably only get 2-3 items on top of that. Um, maybe not. I might have to get Victorian and Gold Dust.

So I tried Victorian out and it did NOT look good on me, ha. Way too icy pink and frosty. I mean, I could see that it would be fabulous with lipgloss over, but I try to make a rule that I won’t buy a lip product I wouldn’t wear alone and I was already hauling enough!

I didn’t get Gold Dust either, not yet, but I may go back for it next payday. I got Rose Maiden and Fresh Salmon with my B2Ms (both made me feel like the hottest chick in the room! ;)) plus Bubblegum, and Purple Rage and Ember Glow lipglasses. And also Hot Hot Hot eyeshadow. Aaaand then I was like okay that’s enough spending for one paycheck! 🙂

Haha – you do love it when your readers like your favorites, don’t you? 🙂 I just have to be picky…

I am in love with what I got, though! Still trying to figure out what to wear with Bubblegum to enhance rather than overpower it. It does make the yellow/olive tones of my skin super apparent, but I like it lots anyway!

this is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO beautiful lol.. i LOVE blues and greens but i feel like with my hazel eyes/pale-ish skin that it never looks good on me.. only some times.. (well blues, i can wear green) i really want to try this out come spring time. I just dont have any of the colors which sucks lol.. but anyways you look gorgeous as always!

sorry, i also had one question, what brush did you use for the blue eyeshadow? you have such a nice thick crease, if you will, and i love that look, bc when i use a blending brush it takes away from that sharp corner and is way to blended.. thanks!

Hi Christine, I was wondering if you had hooded eyes or not. I have hooded eyes and am browsing your looks to look out for some techniques. Thanks!

Brazilian fellings in this look!

I’m a brazilian girl and a really love your site…your makes are gorgeous…

And…you know, you have a lot of “fans” in Brazil…you are very very famous to us, brazilian make-up lovers 😉

Now here in Brazil is Carnival and this is the moment that we all use and abuse of colors…so this post was perfect for this big party!

Thanks!

BEAUTIFUL!!! You always seem to rock bright colours!!! OMG and That victorian lipstick seems to look so beautiful with different lipglosses that u apply ontop!! I love the way the colour changes just with a different lipgloss! And you pull it off so beautiful!! When I look at the lipstick on its own it looks so bright! But the beauty just pops with different lipglosses!

Ferarri Avatar

Kindly do a consolation of all your green blue makeup looks so we could see the differenes? Very nice, all my fav colors but I am afraid my puffy asian lids just wont cut it.

LOVE this! I am not sure how it will look on me but I want to try it anyway. The combination of colours is just gorgeous; so fun and tropical. 😀
