Round-up: ColourPop Pearlized Highlighters Overview & Thoughts

ColourPop Super Shock Cheek/Highlighters

ColourPop Super Shock Cheek/Highlighters ($8.00 for 0.15 oz. each) launched fifteen shades ranging from cooler beige to icy lavender to warm purple. It’s a cream-based formula that is similar in feel to their Super Shock Shadows and Cheeks, but the formula is slightly more emollient than most of the original blush range but comparable to their more metallic eyeshadows. In general, the finishes range from luminous to metallic, with a few shades having more noticeable sparkle that sits on the skin but doesn’t seem to migrate to parts unknown. The pigmentation was mostly opaque when applied with fingertips, and then more buildable from semi-sheer to opaque when applied with a brush (as described). Personally, I enjoyed these more than the blush range, as they were really, really easy to apply (no learning curve!), long-wearing, nicely pigmented, and several were duochromes, which is hard to find in a blush formula. My personal favorites were Highly Waisted (A), Monster (A), Butterfly Beach (A+), and Sticky Sweet (A), but I enjoyed them all.

These highlighters/blushes in some instances are my new fave product. I love the texture, they wer for ever and through heat and humidity. I love that I can use my fingers or soften or keep it true to pan by brush choice. Here’s the kicker- I find myself picking these $8 highlighters over my HE highlighters pretty much daily! My biggest dilemma is I can’t decide how to organize them because some can be blush and a highlighter and I have mine separated as of now. So, I am working on that! lol! Yes, I still love my other ones and I’ll get back to them. But, I hope ColourPop never stops making these and I am still mising Boba form my collection. So, if any one spys that one (or Coconut) on the sight, please give me a shout out!

I pretty much love them all that I have gotten to use! But, my faves so far are Hippo,Monster, Sticky Sweet, and lunch money. But, I’m just getting into these. I just received the bull of them late last week. So, I can see me adding more to the list because I love how there is no powdery texture. When you have dry-ish skin..that is huge! I like creams. But these are so much easier and I just adore them.

Hi Nancy T. ,I know! I look at least once a day too! Lol! Christine confirmed with ColourPop that Coconut was supposed to be restocked within 2-3 wks. I would guess Boba will be restocked too as it is a permanent product. I just keep looking.:) I’ll cross my fingers for them if you do!

How funny! I was just placing an order last night and was looking for good swatches! I did end up ordering Highly Waisted. Can’t wait to see how it looks. Do you use fingers or a brush? If a brush, which kind?

The first ones that I’m going to buy, or try to buy, are: Tasty, Monster, Butterfly Beach and Boba! Also loving Avalon, Lunch Money and Highly Waisted too. All of these just look awesome and have shades to suit every skintone and depth, which is fantastic!

Lunch Money and Smokin’ Whistles are my holy grail highlighters now. So many highlighters either emphasize dry spots/pores, fade, or are major sparkle bombs. These are as subtle as I need them to me and I feel give my skin a healthier, faux-dewy look. Colour Pop is really knocking it out of the park with all of their products!

Hi Chrisine, thanks for your thorough reviews! Of these, which one(s) are the least intense in your opinion? I don’t want anything with a noticeable shimmer or duochrome. I am looking for something similar to how Laura Geller French Vanilla or even the Becca Liquid highlights look applied, and I was wondering if anything in this line is similar.
Thanks!

Hi Christine!

I love the formula of ColourPop eyeshadows, and the formula has ruined all other shadows for me. Lol! They don’t transfer at all and that’s awesome for my hooded lids. Shimmer doesn’t get everywhere now. Do you think that any of these highlighters would work as eyeshadow? Are they pigmented enough? Thank you!!!
